Transformation of Ginevra the Mediterranean Mermaid coloring pages

Today's new post

is  TWO new drawings

showing a Mermaid

before and after

transforming to

mortal form.

Ginevra in her natural Mermaid Form

Ginevra in Mortal Form with Seagull Friend

Mermaids are related to Fairies.  In fact, both have the magical ability to change into mortal form.  This is Ginevra, who you see in the first drawing in her natural Mermaid form.  She has swam close to shore, sat on a rock, and is about to change into mortal form.  In the second drawing, she has transformed into Mortal form.

You will notice the Black-headed Gull who is her friend.  He is flying in, in the first drawing and he is hovering and talking with her in the second drawing.  Ginevra is also friendly with the Shore crab that you see crawling on the rock in both drawings.  Shore crabs are native to the Mediterranean area.

Black-headed gulls are a bird with a very wide range.  They live from Northeastern North America along the coast... to many parts of Europe, including the Mediterranea area, and across Asia and into western parts of the South Pacific.

Mermaids can talk with animals, just like Fairies can.  Although most animals have limited intelligence, Mermaids (and Fairies) know the animals' languages.

You will notice a sea stack with a balancing rock and a sea arch in both drawings.  These are erosional features that sometimes form near the shore in some coastal areas.

When Mermaids (or Mermen, for that matter) transform into mortal form they also magically make some of their natural clothing.  Or they can conjure up clothing (like a swimsuit) that looks more like mortal clothing.  In this drawing, Ginevra is in an isolated place off the coast somewhere near Capri Italy.  So since there is a small chance that she will see or be seen by a mortal, she is wearing her natural kelp-based clothing.  If there this were near a busy beach she would have conjured up a mortal-style swimsuit.

So Ginevra is a Mediterranean Mermaid.  In fact, her name means White Wave in Italian. . . so I think I will post this in Italian as well.

NOTE:  These drawings, in printable form, can be found by clicking on the button labeled . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Fantasy, Myths, and Circus.    Since there are identifiable birds in the drawing I am also posting the drawings under the button labeled . . . . . Birds.

Remember to scroll down because new drawings are at the bottom of the list of printable drawings.
