Today's new coloring page I drew for you is of an Elm Fairy.

Tree Fairies - Alexulmia the Elm Fairy

Alexulmia is a Tree Fairy. That means she probably lives in an underground village that is under an elm tree. This is not a dirty or muddy hole in the ground. This is a carved-out cavern that is brightly lit and has hundreds of little Fairy houses. Alexulmia gets part of her name from the Genus name for elm trees. That word or name is "Ulmus."  Alexulmia is seen here just sliding off a tree branch to fly away. She is also known to be kind to animals, especially dogs. She will find lost or abandoned puppies or dogs and find them new, safe homes. So as you can see, Alexulmia is beautiful, but she is also very kind. Kindness is a HUGE part of beauty. 

Elm trees are kinda unique. Notice that the leaves are NOT symmetrical. You might think I drew the leaves carelessly. But I did not. The retired science teacher in me won't allow that. The leaves on an elm tree are actually asymmetrical and clearly are not a mirror image on each side. By the way, Alexulmia's wings mimic elm tree leaves. If a mortal that was not gifted to see Fairies were to see an Elm Fairy, they would only see elm leaves. 

There are American Elm native to North America, but here in Utah, our elm trees are transplants from Asia and are more likely Chinese Elm or more likely Russian Elm. American Elms were once common, but Dutch Elm Disease killed a lot of them off.

Dinosaurs and Pterosaurs from Brazil

Esses animais são um espinossauro chamado Irritator challengeri. Esse dinossauro terópode media 8 metros de comprimento, ou 26 pés. Tinha 3 metros de altura. O Irritator tinha um focinho alongado com 80 cm de comprimento. Ele se alimentava principalmente de peixes, então só iria incomodar um saurópode se a pesca estivesse ruim. 

O saurópode, ou dinossauro de pescoço longo, é um Tapuiasaurus macedoi. Esse saurópode tinha 14 metros de comprimento. Ele pesava 9 ou 10 toneladas. Tinha 5 metros de altura. Isso equivale a 16 pés de altura na altura dos ombros. Aqui ele está em pé sobre as patas traseiras, erguido para desafiar o predador. Provavelmente tem cerca de 30 pés de altura nesta foto.

O Pupuxuara era um pterossauro com uma grande crista plana. Essa crista pode ter funcionado como um leme durante o voo. O Tupuxuara tinha uma envergadura de 4,7 metros, ou seja, era bem grande.

Today's drawing or coloring page I have drawn is in honor of my fans in Brazil.

These are some animals of the Early Cretaceous Period from

what is now Brazil.

Dinosaurs and Pterosaurs from Brazil

These animals are a Spinosaur called Irritator challengeri. This Theropod dinosaur was 8 meters long or 26 feet long. It was 9 feet or 3 meters tall. Irratator had an elongated snout that was 80 cm or 2/6 feet long. It fed mostly on fish, so it would only be messing with a Sauropod if the fishing had gone bad. 

The Sauropod or long-neck dinosaur is a Tapuiasaurus macedoi. This Sauropod was 43 feet or 14 meters long. It weighed 9 or 10 tons. It was 5 meters tall. That is 16 feet tall at the shoulders. Here it is standing on its back feet, reared up to challenge the predator. It is probably closer to 30 feet tall in this picture.

Pupuxuara was a Pterosaur with a large flat crest. That crest may have acted like a rudder in flight. Tupuxuara had a wingspan of 4.7 meters or 15 feet wide, so it was pretty large.

Today's new drawing is of Jesus with a doggy.

Jesus with a Doggy in the Woods

You often see drawings or paintings of Jesus with a lamb. We don't have a lamb, but we DO have a couple of doggies in our house. So I thought of Jesus saying that not one sparrow would fall to the ground without His Father's care. (Matthew 10:29) So, I figured Jesus loves animals, and considering how pet dogs and doggies are a big part of many people's lives, I figured that Jesus loves dogs too. 

The type of dog pictured is a small, wavy-haired doggy. (I'll admit it looks like our pet micro-mini goldendoodle.) Although in Jesus' time on Earth, dogs were more working animals helping shepherds guard the sheep, etc. The Canaan dog was probably the most common. It had erect ears, was hardy, and was medium-sized. I suspect shepherds became bonded to their dogs. So, here is a coloring page of the Canaan Dog.

I am thinking about drawing a shepherd boy with his Canaan dog. I will also draw a shepherd girl with her Canaan dog. It turns out that girls and women were shepherds too - even in the time of Christ. 

By the way, Jesus loves us the most of all. He died to pay the eternal price for our sins. Because of Him, we can one day return to live with our Heavenly Parents. We must repent of our sins and strive to do better. We must have faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement for our sins. We can even live eternally with our family from our Earth-life. We need to be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, receive our Temple Blessings, and be sealed for time and all eternity to our spouse and children.

New Theropod Dino from the Late Triassic Period of Wales coloring page

Today's new drawing or coloring page is of a newly

discovered Theropod predatory dinosaur from Wales.

New Theropod Dinosaur from Triassic

A newly discovered dinosaur related to Coelophysis was found in Wales. It lived about 200 million years ago in the Late Triassic Period. It was about a meter tall and 2-3 meters long. It was lightly built and was one of the earliest widely successful theropod dinosaurs. 

It actually does not have a name assigned to it. But the Late Triassic Period Pterosaur is called Caelestiventus. The flying pterosaur was found in North America in the Saints and Sinners Quarry. I have seen a Coelophysis skull in the rock at that quarry. So, although Caelestiventus lived far from what is now Wales, the Earth was still pretty much one continent in the Late Triassic. And these two ancient animals may well have lived together.

Jesus turns Water into Wine

The first known miracle that Jesus performed was turning water into wine at a wedding. I suppose He may have performed other miracles as He was growing up and as a young adult. But this is the first of His miracles recorded in the New Testament. But also consider this: Jesus is also Jehovah, the Son of God the Father. Jesus created the Earth. He was the God the Son, and He was behind many miracles we read about in the Old Testament. So, from that viewpoint, turning the water into wine was certainly not His first miracle.

Kaycia the Pet Fairy coloring page

Today I am posting a drawing of a Pet Fairy.

Kaycia the Pet Fairy

Kaycia is one of those Fairies that lives a double life. She lives among mortals to work with animals, but goes on patrol at night to help lost pets. When in mortal form, she magically internalizes her wings and goes to mortal size. Here she is seen still in mortal size and helping a lost micro-mini goldendoodle. 

Kaycia is a Pet Fairy, and she is also a Swallowtail Fairy. Her wing patterns are similar to those of swallowtail butterflies. There are close to 600 species of swallowtail butterflies worldwide. 

People who work with pets, and Fairies who work with and care for pets, are some of the kindest people on our planet. Kaycia is no exception. She is beautiful on the inside, and that enhances her considerable beauty on the outside. I have to add that a coloring page style of drawing falls short of sharing her beauty. But I can tell you that she is so kind that her beauty makes her glow - in mortal or Fairy form.

To be clear, this is an American Robin, not the European Robin. American Robins live throughout most of North America. Many robins winter in some southern places and migrate back to northern regions. Others stay in place year-round. 

They are omnivores, and so 40% of their diet is invertebrates like insects and worms etc.  While 60% of the American Robin's diet is plant-based. They especially like berries. When robins eat a lot of honeysuckle, they tend to get intoxicated. Can you imagine a drunk robin?

Male robins have a darker head plumage and a brighter red breast. In fact, it is kind of a red-orange breast. Eggs are a distinctive light blue that is called robin-egg blue.

Princess of Egypt finds Moses

Pharaoh had ordered all male Hebrew babies to be killed. This was a barbarous action. Jochabed was a Levite mother who wanted to save her baby boy. So she put him in a basket and set him into the River Nile. She certainly prayed for him, and God heard her prayers.

Moses' basket (with him alive and well inside) was found by the Princess of Egypt. She adopted Moses and raised him as her son. So Moses was highly educated and had every privilege of a Prince of Egypt. Moses went on to flee Egypt and return as the deliverer. He was an instrument in the hand of God to free the Children of Israel from Egyptian bondage. Of course, God had also heard the prayers of the Children of Israel.  So one lesson here is that God hears and answers prayers. 

In this drawing you can see part of a pillar and the bull rushes that line parts of the River Nile.

Skyphia the Jellyfish Mermaid

Jellyfish Mermaids, like Skyphia, love jellyfish  All Merpeople are actually immune to jellyfish sting so that is not a problem at all.  Here we see Skyphia with several species of jellyfish and other marine animals nearby, at a coral reef. Skyphia got to choose her name of adulthood and so she chose the name Skyphia because true jellyfish are in the Class: Scyphozoa. Do you see the similarities? 

See if you can find the different animals. I am only naming one of the jellyfish. The biggest one is a Portuguese Man-O-War. Then there is a lobster. There are 3 types of coral. Can you identify the brain coral? There are some reef fish - 3 species - including an eel. There is also a sea turtle and a shark. There is a squid and a trio of sea worms, AKA sand worms. The plants include kelp. But kelp is not a plant. It is a type of organism in the Kingdom: Protista.

This is a simple portrait with no background. Feel free to add any type of background.

Jesus willingly gave His life for us. To quote Elder Gong, "Christ's Atonement changes everything."

Because Jesus Christ paid the eternal price for our sins, we can repent. Because Jesus died and then was resurrected, WE will one day be resurrected and get immortal bodies. Then, if we repented and strove to do better, we will get to live in glory with our Heavenly Parents and our spouse and family for all eternity. 

My granddaughter colored this drawing. 

Jesus being led to Golgatha

Jesus had to carry His cross. There is some thought that he had to carry the crosspiece, not the entire cross. I did not draw them, but certainly many people would have lined the path to Golgatha, where Jesus was crucified. I have previously posted new resurrection drawings this Easter Season.

Sinning at all separates us from God

But since for our sins, Christ paid that great price

We can still repent and have eternal life

Today's new drawing is of Joseph who was sold into Egypt... when he met his brothers there.

Joseph meets His Brothers in Egypt

THIS is a stylized drawing - done in a modified ancient Egyptian style of drawing. The drawing shows when Joseph greets his brothers. These same 10 brothers had sold him into slavery. Joseph had suffered, even having been falsely accused and imprisoned... but he had triumphed. He interpreted the Pharaoh's dreams, and he, Joseph, was put in as the number 2 man in Egypt. 

Joseph had predicted an upcoming 7 good years of harvest... followed by 7 years of famine. He had been put in charge of storing the excess food for when the famine hit.

Meanwhile, over in Canaan, Joseph's father and his 11 brothers and their families were suffering due to the drought and famine. So, Jacob, or Israel, had sent his sons to Egypt to get food. Originally, only the 10 oldest brothers went, and the youngest son, Benjamin, was left at home. 

After leading them on a bit, Joseph forgave his older brothers and told them that it was all meant to be.

A Butterfly Fairy and a Moth Fairy coloring pages

Erina the Butterfly Fairy

Erina is a Butterfly Fairy. She is seen here on a branch of a tree. She is resting after a full day of helping the butterflies pollinate flowers. Butterflies also receive protection from Butterfly Fairies. They can use their magic to confuse a bird or other predator, like a frog. 

Polilla the Moth Fairy

Did you know that moths are also pollinators? Some flowers are primarily pollinated by moths... at night. Interesting fact, Moth Fairies have feathery antennae, like most moths have. However, Butterfly Fairies rarely have any antennae.  Moth Fairies can light up the end of their wand to attract moths. Moth Fairies have large eyes for seeing at night.

Have you ever thought that maybe leprechaun gold was leprechaun-sized? With the current price of gold at $5,022.80 per ounce... this little pot of probably 250 ounces of gold would still be a LOT of money.  Do the math: 

250 oz of gold x $5022.80 = $        ?

But first, let me tell you about the Peacock Butterfly. It is a species found all over Europe, the UK, and, of course, Ireland. It has bright eye spots on its wings to startle predators.

Today's new drawing is a simple drawing of starships of the future.

Starships leaving Orbit

These are clearly starships of the future. They are of our future, or they are from a different sentient civilization. We, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, believe that God has millions of worlds peopled by His children. The ships above, IF they are Terran ships, then mankind has developed faster-than-light travel, because these planets and moons are clearly not from our solar system.  These two starships are leaving the orbit of the nearby planet.

Moabosaurus and other Animals from Cretaceous Moab including an Early Iguanodon coloring page

Today's new drawing that I have done is of Cretaceous animals near Moab, Utah. 

OK, they were found near Moab, Utah. 

In fact, the largest dinosaur found in the area is called Moabosaurus. 

Moabosaurus on a River Plain

Moabosaurus was a large animal. But it was far smaller than its large Titanosaur cousins. That being said, these Sauropods were still the largest animals in their Early Cretaceous environment. It was 33 feet or 10 meters long. It weighed around 22,000 lbs. or 10,000 kg. It appears that earlier Sauropods had died off in the area or never lived there near what is now the Moab, Utah area. 

Moabosaurus was named after Moab, Utah, by paleontologists from Brigham Young University.  Brooks Britt was the lead BYU paleontologist in this study. The scientific name of this Sauropod is Moabosaurus utahensis. 

There are other dinosaurs in the background. BYU student researcher Stefan Arriscorreta recently presented research that showed that Iguanodons evolved 25 million years earlier than previously thought. They lived in the same area and at the same time as Moabosaurus - around 125 million years ago. Stefan found Iguanodon eggs in the area. This area is now a desert, but back then it was a wet river plain. 

There are two Pterosaurs in the sky. They are also from the Early Cretaceous. They are Uktenadactylus. This was a large Pterosaur with a wingspan of up to 29 feet or 9 meters wide. That is a big flying reptile!

If you are wondering why I included flowering plants, it is because new research is showing that flowering plants were flourishing as far back as 125-130 million years ago. New research has also shown that grass evolved in the Early Cretaceous.

Today's new post is a Science activity that you can do at home. This activity is based on the four animal drawings I have posted recently. Look at the example. Write the name of an animal you see, then write the name of its class. So, "elk" is a mammal of the Class "Mammalia."  So, you need to write on the lines:       elk          Mammalia.     You will probably need to do some research on the classes of animals, but the names of the classes for each picture are on the first page below.

This is a simple drawing of a few animals that live in the ocean. This drawing includes animals from several classes. The setting is supposed to be off the west coast of North America, like off the Baja Peninsula of Mexico. Below is a list of the animals. See if you can find them on the coloring page.

Sea horses by some kelp. Kelp is actually not a plant nor is it an animal either. Kelp is in Class: Protista.  Sea horses are not invertebrates. They are actually a type of bony fish. There are some other bony fish in the drawing as well. 

The sea anemone LOOKS like a plant, but they are a type of animal.

Clownfish live in or near sea anemone.

Marine worms or sea worms live on beaches and underwater in the ocean. Beach-dwelling worms are also called sandworms, albeit not the size of the enormous desert sandworms in Dune. 

There are a couple of types of coral in this coloring page. Coral is not a rock, nor is it an animal. Coral is a type of marine animal. By the way, one of the corals is brain coral. Do you see which one?

Starfish are seen in this drawing. Starfish or sea stars are members of Class: Asteroidea. That is a cool name. The starfish live on the sea floor.

There is also a clam, a sand dollar, a sea urchin, and a crab on the sea floor in this drawing. You will need to look up the class of animal for each of them if you do the Classification activity. That acticity will be posted tomorrow. 

There is a dolphin and a whale. They are NOT fish. Do you know what class they are in? Here is a hint: they both nurse their young with milk.  The whale is a sperm whale, and it is actually blurry because it is far in the distance. Sperm whales are actually huge and can reach a length of up to 68 feet, or around 20+ meters. 

The shark is not a bony fish. Sharks have cartilage for bones. When ancient sharks died, the only thing we find is their teeth. Look up what class sharks are in. 

There is a mushy translucent dome-shaped invertebrate called a Portuguese Man-O-War that swims or floats in the sea. It has tentacles that can sting you badly. Can you figure out which animal I am talking about?

The birds include a laughing gull. They have a black head. There is also a diving Blue-footed Boobie.  Boobies dive bomb to catch fish that are visible from up high in the air. There are other birds far in the distance.  

The only type of large reptile that survived the dinosaur extinction was sea turtles. 

There are three types of swimming animals with tentacles in this drawing. They are in the same class. They are the octopus, the squid, and the nautoloid. A nautilus looks like the now extinct ammonite.

Ugly Duckling discovers He's a Swan coloring page

Today's new drawing is part of a set of animal drawings.

THIS is what it would look like for the Ugly Duckling to discover that he was a swan. These are still animals in a  North American river, pond, or lake.

I love this story. For some reason, an over-large egg winds up in a duck's nest. The egg hatches, and the "duckling" looks different from the other ducklings. He is rejected and persecuted because he looks different. To the ducks, different is ugly. Yet when the "duckling" matures after a long, lonely year, he discovers that he is actually a beautiful swan. 

I love the song from the old movie, Hans Christian Anderson.  Look it up on YouTube. It's a great song! Like the story, it shows that someone who starts out seemingly inferior or different and seemingly ugly can grow into an exceptional or beautiful being. 

Since this will be part of the Classification Science activity, here is the list of animals to look for:

swans, ducks, fish, butterfly, dragonfly, bee, grebe, and a mammal. Do you spot the mammal?

Desert Iguana and other North American Desert Animals

The desert iguana is a species of lizard found in North America, primarily in the Southwest portion of the USA and the Northwest portion of Mexico. They are about 13-14 inches or 33-36 cm. Some large adults grow to 16 or so inches. That is around 40 cm long. They are omnivorous but mostly eat plants. They also sometimes eat insects or carrion. They really rely on the creosote bush for food and even burrow underneath the bush. 

This drawing includes a roadrunner, a tarantula, two ants, a crustacean called a pillbug, a scorpion, a diamondback rattlesnake, flying birds that are probably vultures or some other bird of prey, and a cottontail rabbit.

Bull Elk and a few other Rocky Mountain Animals

A full-grown bull elk can weigh over 1100 lbs. or almost 500 kg. They are actually a large type of deer. They are known for a powerful bugle call that is a type of mating call. Bull elk also spar or joust with other males for the right to mate with the harem or the females of the herd. 

See if you can spot the other types of animals in this coloring page. There are 7 other species of animals in the drawing. They are: a mouse, a rabbit, a lizard, a butterfly, and 3 birds of prey. Look at the river to spot the seventh animal type or species.

Today's new coloring page is Sir Josh, a knight on his horse.

Sir Joshua on his Steed Captain

Sir Joshua is seen here on an overview of a mountain valley. His noble steed is named Captain. The horse is standing in deep grass on a mountain overlook.  This is a rather dangerous place for a horse. But it is not quite as dangerous as you might think because the grass is very deep and the edge of the cliff has a bit of a lip. Still, it is fairly dangerous, but Captain is a national treasure in his country. Josh, as his friends and family call him, knows how to guide this extremely intelligent horse in dangerous places like this. Sir Joshua is on the lookout for orcs, goblins, dragons, or mountain trolls. 

Can you tell which "bird" in the distance is actually probably a dragon? When Sir Joshua turns around, then he will be able to tell which flying animal is actually a dragon.

Tiffania the She-Elf Warrior

Tiffania is a She-Elf warrior. Yes, she IS very beautiful - like nearly all elves. But she is also both deadly when necessary. That means when she is in combat with orcs, goblins and\or  trolls. However, Tiffania is also a kind wife and mother. She knows that true beauty is in far more than the physical. Sir Joshua knows this as well. 

Interesting that Tiffania chose marriage to a mortal, namely, to Sir Joshua. Sometimes they go on patrol together and sometimes individually. Often one stays home to take care of their children. Tiffany gave up her Elven immortality to marry Joshua. Tiffany is like Arwen, who said something to the effect: 

    "I would rather spend a lifetime with you, rather than an eternity without you."

I should add that in our belief, we DO get to spend an eternity with our spouse if we are both worthy. I also want to remind you that coloring pages can not capture the full physical beauty of people or Elves or Faries... but I try my best.

Tulip Butterfly Fairy on a Clouy Day

This is a type of Flower Fairy. She is also a type of Butterfly Fairy. Her name is, appropriately, Tulipia. She is seen here with three butterflies. She has wings similar to these butterflies. They are called Papilia rey butterflies. (I admit that I made that up. But they ARE similar to a viceroy or monarch butterfly.)

Tulipia is leaeding some butterflies on a cloudy day, so she has ignited a magic lamplight on the end of her wand. This allows the butterflies to see the tulips they are seeking. Yes, butterflies DO help pollinate tulips. Notice that the shadows indicate that the wand is the primary light source on this cloudy day.

Today's new drawing is a simple portrait of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

This portrait shows our Savior Jesus Christ AFTER His resurrection. But his life did not start at His birth in Bethlehem. He lived with us as our elder spirit brother. We had Heavenly Parents in what could be called our pre-mortal life. Some people call it a "pre-existence.  

Jesus volunteered to be our Savior. He volunteered to pay the eternal price or punishment for our sins. Then we were sent to Earth to be tested. We all sin. Jesus Christ performed His atonement in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross so that we would have the opportunity to repent. 

Jesus earthly mother was Mary, a mortal. But his father was our Heavenly Father. So Jesus was actually very powerful. He COULD have stopped the crucifixion, but He went through the terrible pain because He loved us. He STILL loves us. If we keep God's commandments and repent when we don't... then we will be able to live again one day with Him and our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother. We also will be able to live with our worthy family members - including our spouse if we have been sealed for time and all eternity in one of Heavenly Father's Temples.
