Jessalyn the Barefoot Elf Warrior and other Barefoot Elf coloring pages

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

There are no ads on this blog and no fees to print a coloring page.

Today's new drawing is Jessalyn the Barefoot Elf Warrior

Jessalyn the Barefoot She-Elf Warrior

I have drawn some other Barefoot Elves.  Jessalyn is my latest drawing.  She is an Elf Warrior, but as a Barefoot Elf, she is very sure-footed and great at concealment, so she spends most of her time as a scout.  If you have not heard about Barefoot Elves let me tell you that they are descendants of marriages of Elves and Hobbits.  So, Barefoot Elves prefer to go barefoot, like their Hobbit ancestors.  That is how they got the name "Barefoot Elves."  They are long-lived because of their Elf ancestors.

Barefoot Elves are known for being beautiful people.  They are often active at night so they have large and beautiful eyes.  Their legs are a bit shorter than the legs on regular Wood Elves.  This is a trait they get from their Hobbit ancestors.  The ability to conceal themselves is also a Hobbit trait.  When they choose to use a bow instead of a spear, the Barefoot Elves are excellent shots.  Many an Orc never knew what killed him when a hidden Barefoot Elf hit them with an arrow.

Barefoot Elves originated in Hobbiton and lived for a time in Rivendell, but they emigrated to Mirkwood and joined themselves to the Wood Elf community that lived there.

NOTE:  This top drawing and the drawings down below are available, in printable form, by clicking on the button labeled:  "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus."  Then scroll down to the bottom of the list.   Below this paragraph are a few other Barefoot Elf drawings from previous posts.

A New Wildlife Fairy drawing and some other Wildlife Fairies coloring pages

Welcome to my blog!  This is a free coloring pages blog.  There is no fee to print a page to color.  There are over 1000 pages to print.  There are no ads on this site.  Have fun coloring.  Today's new drawing is a Young Wildlife Fairy helping a Fawn.  I am Robin Lyman and I drew these pictures.  I am a retired - Disabled Science Teacher.   I live with an endotracheal stent to keep a collapsing trachea open.   I started this blog to keep busy and to get off pain medicine.  Drawing distracts me from the pain.  I hope you like the drawings and will print some for coloring.  The category buttons have all the printable drawings.  But if you want to read what I wrote about when I posted each drawing you can scroll down on this main blog page.  Then click on the "Older Posts" button and scroll down.

Josephus the Young Wildlife Fairy (with an injured fawn)

Josephus is a very young Wildlife Fairy.  He has transformed to Mortal size to help a young fawn that has been injured.  The Fawn's mother was killed by a cougar and the cougar injured the fawn. The fawn escaped the cougar and was hiding near a river when Josephus found her.  So Josephus is using Fairy Healer Magic to heal the fawn and he plans on taking care of her until she grows up enough to care for herself.  With deer that will be about a year.  Josephus is doing this under the direction of his father, (Scotus) and his mother, (Meqalia).

There are many  Wildlife Fairies that most mortals are very unaware of.  There are some Wildlife Fairies who go to Mortal size and attend Mortal college to get degrees in Wildlife Management.  They then get jobs at National Parks, Wildlife Refuges, and National Forests.

NOTE:  This new drawing of Josephus, can be found, in printable form, by clicking on the button labeled "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus."  Then scroll to the bottom of the list of printable drawings for the printable drawings. New drawings are at the bottom of the list.  Below are some older drawings from previous posts that are all Fairies with some form of wildlife. Remember that a snail or an insect is still wildlife.  Not all wildlife is birds and mammals.  All these below drawings can also be found, in printable form, by clicking on the button labeled: "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus."  I have re-posted several Wildlife Fairies before, so this time I included some additional drawings that have not been reposted before.  All these Fairy drawings are of Fairies with wildlife. . . and some magical wildlife like Unicorns.

Dawndraco and the Native American Piasa Bird-Dragon coloring pages

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawings are a Pterosaur called Dawndraco,

and a type of Native American Bird-Dragon called a Piasa.

These drawings are part of my series of drawings that pair up

a Pterosaur or Dinosaur with a dragon name...

with a type of Dragon from the local mythology

where the fossilized animal (with a Dragon name) was found.

Dawndraco with a Fish

(Did you notice the fish in its mouth?)

Piasa Bird-Dragon

Dawndraco was a type of Pteranodon from the Cretaceous Period of North America.  It was around the size of a Pteranodon but perhaps with a bigger head in relation to its body.  So it had a wingspread of around 18 feet or 5.6 meters wide.  It also had an overbite in its mouth.  There is some debate on whether Dawndraco is just a type of Pteranodon, and should not be in its own genus.

The full scientific name of this Pterosaur or flying reptile is Dawndraco kanzai.  It's Genus or Generic name of Dawndraco is referring to the Iroquois tribe's God of the Dawn. (I am part Iroquois.)  And the part of the name that means "dragon" is the Latin word for dragon or "draco."  The species name of kanzai is a nod to the Kaw Nation of Native Americans.  This tribe is also called Kansa or Kaw or Kaza, or Konza or Kans, or Conza, or Kasa.  The tribe is sometimes referred to as the People of the South Wind or People of the Water. That name works well for a Pterosaur that flew and glided on the wind AND fished in rivers of water.

If you have not figured it out yet, this tribe is where the United States state of Kansas got its name.  Dawndraco fossils were found in the State of Kansas in rocks that date to about 86 million years ago.

The Piasa Bird is a type of Native American Dragon.  It is known from rock drawings along the Mississippi River.  Legends say it is a bird or dragon that eats people.  Another legend says a wise chief acted as a decoy so his warriors could kill it with poison arrows.

NOTE:  These drawings can be found, in printable form, by clicking on the correct button.  For the Dawndraco printable drawing click on the button labeled:  "Paleontology.  Then scroll down to the bottom of the list of printable drawings.  New drawings are at the bottom of the correct list.  For the Piasa Bird-Dragon drawing click on:   "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus."   And remember to scroll way down to get to the new drawing.

Wood Elves coloring pages

This is a free Coloring Pages blog.

There are no fees or ads.  Feel free to print pages to color.

Today's NEW drawing is of a young Wood Elf named Fen.

Fen the Young Wood Elf
(This is a new drawing.)

Wood Elves are amazing Elves.  They have the light footedness and athleticism of a North American Cougar.  They can climb trees and jump out of them in amazing ways.  Their skills are way beyond what we mortals possess.  They are very good with the bow.  This young Wood Elf, named Fen, is on lookout duty.  He keeps his eye open for orcs, goblins, and any other evil creature.

A fen is a type of wetland fed by springs and growing peat.  It might be called a peat bog.  There is a fen or wetlands near the forest where Fen lives so he was given that Nature-inspired name.  Many Elves have names inspired by Nature.

Some Wood Elves are called Barefoot Elves.  Fen is not one of these.  Barefoot elves are part Hobbit. That Hobbit ancestor goes back many generations.  Barefoot Elves have a little shorter legs than most Wood Elves and they go barefoot. . . like Hobbits do.

Below are some other drawings of Wood Elves that I have done previously.  Some are of Barefoot Elves.  All these drawings are found, by clicking on the button up top labeled "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus."  Then scroll to the bottom of the list of drawings for the new drawing.  New drawings are on the bottom of the list of drawings.  Have fun coloring!

Thanksgiving 2020 coloring pages

This is a free coloring pages blog.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Today's new drawing is a cartoon drawing of a family of wild turkeys.

Wild Turkeys

(This is the only new drawing today.)

Wild turkeys are native to the New World.  Turkeys have been domesticated but they still exist in the wild in every state of the USA except Alaska.  Turkey fossils date back to 5 million years ago.  They are native to both the USA, Canada, and Mexico.  The English name for this bird may come from the fact that early turkeys were shipped to Europe on trading routes that went through the country of Turkey.

Male turkeys can grow to weigh up to 24 lbs.  That is about 11 kg.  Females weigh half as much.  Male turkeys can be up to 4 feet 1.5 inches long.  That is about 1.25 meters long. Females are only about 3 feet long.  That is just under a meter long.

Once brought to Europe and Great Britain from the New World the turkey was quickly domesticated and become very popular.  Turkey meat has a delicious rich taste.  In fact, I just ate a bunch of turkey for my Thanksgiving Day dinner.

The family can't come over this holiday because I am on quarantine in advance of surgery to replace my trachea stent.  So if you are a praying type, please pray for me.  My surgery is Monday.

Wild turkey chicks actually don't require any parental care.  They live in the flock with usually just the hens.  Some turkey flocks can have up to 50 members consisting of females and juveniles.  The males or Tom Turkeys are usually living off in a small group of males, except in breeding season.

Below are other Thanksgiving drawings from previous years.  To get to the printable versions of the drawings just click on the button labeled "Holidays.'  Then scroll to the bottom of the list of drawings for this new drawing of the Wild Turkeys.

Robin Hood & Robin Hood as a Youth coloring pages

This is a free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing is of a young Robin Hood.

There is also an older drawing of an adult Robin Hood.

Robin Hood as a Youth

I love the legends of Robin Hood.  In fact, my parents named me after Robin Hood.  Robin Hood steals from the rich... who are oppressors of the poor, and give to the poor.  Of course, I don't condone highway robbery.  But I DO highly recommend giving to the poor.

This drawing is not a traditional drawing of Robin Hood... because it is Robin as a youth.  I drew him as a youth who is out in Sherwood Forest practicing his skills with the bow and arrow.  (Or maybe he is hunting illegally to obtain food for some poor family.)

Robin Hood was supposed to have been a disenfranchised nobleman... or part of the Gentry of his day.  His land and castle were stolen from him and he took to the woods as an outlaw.  But Robin Hood did not rob and steal from just anyone.  He stole from the rich and gave much of his money to the poor.  Of course, this made him a local hero so the common people did not ever turn him and his merry men into the Sherriff of Nottingham.

By the way, the English Longbow was a very formidable weapon.  That is what Robin used. It is thought that he used a bow made of wood from the yew tree or bush.  The English Longbow was bout 6 feet long or around 1.8 meters long. It had a good range of around 200 yards or 180 meters.  It was used by the English and the Welsh for hunting and in battle.  The English Longbow was very effective in battle because an arrow fired from the English Longbow could puncture chainmail.  This made the enemy need to use the more expensive and hard to make plate armor.  Crossbows also were effective but more expensive to make and it took longer to load and fire a crossbow.  An English Longbowman could fire effectively 6 arrows a minute... or more if necessary.  But firing more than 6 per minute would exhaust even a strong archer.

NOTE:  This drawing is found, in printable form, by clicking on the button labeled "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus."  Then scroll down to get to this new drawing.  New drawings are always on the bottom of the list of printable drawings.  I am also adding an older drawing I did of an adult Robin Hood.  The printable version of this drawing will be further up the list.

Wulong was NOT a Pterosaur.  It was a small frying dinosaur.  In fact, the name Wulong means "Dancing Dragon."  It was a small flyer.  It was a little shorter than a raven.  It had a long tail and it was put in the same family of dinosaurs as Microraptor.  Wulong had feathers.  In essence, it was an early bird.  Do you think it caught the worm?

Chinese Dragons are one of the most recognizable dragons in the world.  Dragons have an important part in Chinese and many other East Asian cultures.  Dragons are symbols of virility, power, strength, and good luck.  Dragons are said to have power over typhoons, rainfall, typhoons, and floods. . . and power over water in general.

Barfuß Sie-Elf mit Stummen Schwan und deutscher Bachforelle (German) Barefoot She-Elf with Mute Swan and German Brown Trout

English readers, please scroll down for the English version of today's Barefoot She-Elf.

Ein fischbauer namens Fred Mather importierte Sie nach New York State, USA.

. . . oder . . . . . . . . . . Fantasy, Myths, and Circus

Barefoot She-Elf with Mute Swan and German Brown Trout and a few other Barefoot Elf coloring pages

Welcome to my Free Coloring Pages Blog

There are over 1,000 free to print drawings to color.

There are no ads on this blog.

Today's new drawing is a type of Elf

called a Barefoot Elf.  Since she is female she is also a She-Elf.

Barefoot She-Elf with Mute Swan and German Brown Trout

As you can see from this drawing, the Barefoot She-Elf does have shorter legs than most Elves.  By the way, this She-Elf is named Aurelina.  She is not guarding the forest in this drawing,  she is relaxing on the river.  All Elves are lovers and caretakers of Nature.  Here Aurelina is hanging out in Nature with her friend, a Mute Swan.  Aurelina wears light armor when on duty guarding the forest.  Here she is just wearing a comfortable and simple dress.

If you read my blog regularly then you know about Barefoot Elves.  They are a group of Elves that are particularly good at hiding.  They originated with some Elves that married Hobbits.  From 2 previous posts:

Barefoot Elves are descended from the union or marriage of Brimley and Arwina thousands of years ago.   Brimley was an early Hobbit... or you could say Protohobbit.  Arwina was an Elf Princess.  Their children were raised in the Elf community of Rivendell and so they married Elves.  Through the years these descendants came to be known as Barefoot Elves.  They are incredibly sure-footed and are adept at keeping themselves hidden.  The Barefoot Elves tend to have slightly shorter legs than other Elves.   Most of the Barefoot Elves eventually moved to Mirkwood and lived among the Wood Elves.  So now most of the Barefoot Elves are considered a type of Wood Elf.    http://gr8coloringpages.blogspot.com/2020/08/barefoot-elves-family.html

When one of the barefoot Elves runs through the forest they can feel where they are going. They can run perfectly balanced on branches and jump back to the forest floor much better than the Elves. That is saying something, considering how well the Elves in shoes can run, jump and sail through the forest.

Like their Hobbits ancestors, barefoot elves are often chosen for watch and scout service. This is because, as a Hobbit, they can remain invisible when they walk and even run. They can run and walk so quietly that no orc, goblin or troll can hear them. Even the children of Ungoliant cannot hear or catch a barefoot fairy. (Children of Ungoliant are the species of giant spiders in Middle Earth.)

The Mute Swan is an Old World species, although some have been imported to North America, Australia, New Zealand. . . and they live in other parts of the world too.  For instance, they are found in both North and South Africa.  Mute Swans are monogamous so they are a symbol of love in many cultures in the Old World.  Mute Swans measure from between 49 and 67 inches long.  That is 125 to 170 centimeters in length.  They are much less vocal than other swan species, so that is why they are called "Mute" Swans.

The fish is a Brown Trout.  These trout are a European species and are found native to both Europe and Great Britain.  There are some Brown Trout that live much of their lives in the sea and, like salmon, only return to the freshwater environment to spawn.   That is called an anadromous lifestyle.  The first Brown Trout in the USA were obtained as eggs from a German... namely Baron Lucius Von Behr who was the President of the European Fishing Society.  A fish farmer named Fred Mather imported them to New York State, USA.  So this is why the Brown Trout is sometimes called "German Brown Trout."

We have this species living here in our lakes and streams of Utah as well.  They are also called Lake Trout.  The biggest Brown Trout I ever caught measured just under 15 inches or around 38 cm.  I caught it in the Provo River near Provo, Utah, USA.

NOTE:  I will posting this in German since it has a German Trout on int.  This drawing, in printable form, can be found by clicking on the button labeled:  Birds and Fantasy, Myths, and Circus. . . . or . . . . . . . . . .

As a final note, since I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I am posting things to be grateful for.  Our prophet, President Russell M. Nelson challenged us, for one week, to post daily on social media what we are grateful for.  So, today I am grateful for Fantasy, Mythology, and Science Fiction.  I love how they often have great storylines that can teach tolerance, love, dedication, friendship, and sometimes even faith.

Below are a couple more drawings of Barefoot Elves.  These are from previous posts.

Dragons & Pterosaurs-Pterosaurier benannt nach Game of Thrones Haus Targaryen (German) Targaryendraco and Firedrake Dragons

English readers please scroll down for the English version.
