Jesus Laments Over Jerusalem

Jesus laments over Jerusalem

There are lots of paintings of Jesus lamenting over the future fate of Jerusalem.   Around 30 years after Jesus was crcified and resurrecrcted the people of Jerusalem rebelled against Rome and the Roman Legions defeated the Jews and destroyed the city.  Jesus had prophesied of of this destruction.

This brings up the great problem of evil.  That is what the philosophers call it when bad things happen to good people.  Clearly there WERE some very wicked people in Jerusalem.  But the children were not guilty of any crime yet they also suffered and certainly many were killed.

I am sure that I do not have the best answer to the problem of evil. . . but here is what I think:
Before we lived on Earth there was a war in Heaven.  Jesus and our Heavenly Father fought against Satan and his followers.  In fact, we also fought with Jesus.  We won and got the right to come to Earth and receive a body.  Satan and 1/3 of our Heavenly Parents' children were cast to Earth without getting a physical body.  Those spirits did not go through the veil of forgetfulness that we went through so they know what they missed out on.  They can remember our premortal life.   They became devils and they tempt us to do evil.  Unfortunately many people yeild to the temptations and become evil.

Then the good people (and often other evil people) become victims.  In fact often the evil pick on the other evil.  But sometimes the evil deliberately victimize the good people.  One example of this is in the Book of Mormon.  Amulek and Alma were teaching the poeple of the wicked city of Ammonihah.  There were many people who chose to beleive and repent.  The wicked people and leaders of the city drove the husbands and fathers of all the believers out of the city and burned all the scriptures tha the good people beleived in.  Those scriptures were basically the Old Testament books of the Bible plus a few more ....at least those books that dated before 600 B.C.

Then the unthinkable happened.  The wicked people threw the women and children who were believers into the fire.  Amulek wanted to use th Power of God that he and Alma had to stop the killings but Alma (who also wanted to stop the martyrdom) said that the Spirit of God would not let him because the wicked have to be allowed to do their wickedness that the judgements that would come upon them would be just.  Alma also said that God was receiveing the women and children unto himself.

I think that what this tells us is that from an ETERNAL perspective the righteous who die in the Lord are OK.  In fact they are way better than OK.  They are in the arms of Jesus.  They are dwelling in everlasting splendor and at total peace.  This is an eternal pestpective and that is hard for us mortals to accept.  But this life is only temporary.  Our eternal existence is just that ....eternal.  So we must try to realize that this life is a test.  But if we pass the test our eternal state can be glorious.  So this is what hope is about.  We read of faith, hope and charity. . . and the hope part is all about hoping for a better eternal existence.   If you or a loved one has suffered because of the evil actions of another I hope this gives you some hope.

T. rex Male Chick hangs out with his Mommy cartoon coloring page

T. rex Theropod dinosaurs are now considered to have been good parents.  They cared for their young until the young were older.  In fact... it  is becoming obvious that Tyrannosaurs were pack animals and the young probably stayed with the parents their entire lives.

Cartoonist trick is to add eyelashes to the baby or chick if you want it to be a female.  This is a rather simple drawing for younger kids to color.  I drew it for my 2 year old grandson.

Fairies and Unicorns are friends.  This includes both sexes of Unicorns and Fairies.  This new drawing shows a Male Fairy with transparent wings enchanting a Female Unicorn.  Look closely at the right hand side of the drawing.  You will see the tail tip with a tuft of hair.  This is not my favorite way to draw a Unicorn tail, but it is the traditional tail of a Unicorn.

Fairy Healer Brooklyn

Fairy Healer named  Brooklyn
(New Drawing)

Brooklyn is a fairy healer.  As such she has to go into the forest and sometimes into the forest streams in search of medicinal plants like watercress.  If you follow my blog you know that I think that Fairies have an advanced technology and knowledge beyond mortal knowledge in many ways.  Part of that knowledge includes the uses of plants as medicine and nutrition.  Some plants grow best in the wild so Fairy Healers gather the plants and sometimes fungi (like mushrooms) in the wild.

Brooklyn is a healer so she is seen here gathering watercress from a forest stream.  She got splattered a little bit by the mud from the roots.  She also has mud on her hands and wrists from reaching into the mud at the bottom of the river.  She is standing on a pair of rocks in the middle of the stream.  She did not swim to the rocks.  She is wearing her flying belt.  Fairies can fly short distances using just their wings.  But for further distances they use an anti-gravity neutrino flying belt.

NOTE:  The printable vesion of this top drawing is found by clicking on the top buttons labeled either . . . . . All Printables. . . . . . or . . . . . . . .  Fantasy, Myths and Circus. . . . .  and scrolling to the bottom of the list.  New drawings are at the bottom of the lists.  I am now going to add some of my previous drawings of Fairies.  But first I want to say that the real Brooklyn who modeled for this drawing is an amazing CNA who cares for the elderly.  She is is also studying to become a nurse.  This makes her a healer.   And I also want to say THANK YOU to all those good people who take care of us when we are ill, or elderly or giving birth etc. etc.  Those doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, Certified Nursing Assistants, etc. have kept me alive well past my expected expiration date.

David takes on Goliath with just a Sling

David's Stone is about to kill Goliath

This is a rather quick and simple drawing.  It shows the stone from David's sling about to knock out Goliath.  In fact, the stone may have killed Goliath.  To be sure Goliath was dead David used Goliath's own sword to cut his head off.  The Pillistines were so freaked out that their champion was killed that they fled in terror.  David went on to be a great military leader and a great king.

Goliath here has a body with shorter legs and a longer torso that you would suspect.  I figured that perhaps Goliath was a bit of a genetic mutant.  After all, he WAS around 9 feet or almost 3 meters tall.

The real point of this true story is that David was so full of faith that he was willing to nearly fearlessly face a giant in the age of hand to hand combat.  This is a story of faith in adversity.  We all should admire David for his faith against incredible odds.

This simple drawing is found in printable form under the "Religous" button and in the Old Testament list under that button.   It is also found under the "All Printables" button.

Giganotosaurus coloring pages

Giganotosuarus on the Prowl

Giganotosaurus was a huge Theropod dinosaur from South America.  It possibly was lighter than T. rex but it was also longer.  It had a weaker bite than T. rex because it specialized in biting the legs or sides of the huge prey species of monster sized dinos like Argentinosaurus and Patagotitan (seen in the backgroud).  The teeth on a T. rex are thick and shaped like bananas... they are teeth that were used for crushing bone.  The teeth on Giganotosaurus were knives for slicing into prey and getting a nice big bite.  IF the would or wounds became infected the giant Sauropod prey would die.  Also, possbily the prey could die from blood loss.  Giganotosaurus probably hunted in packs.

As far as stats:  T. rex was 40 feet long or so.  T. rex weighed up to or around 32,000 lbs or a mass of 14,515 kg.  Giganotosaurus was up to 43 feet long and weighed something like 31,000 lbs or a mass of 14,61 kg.

In a fight T. rex would have had the advantage because T. rex had a much more powerful bite.  The thing is though, T. rex and Giganotosaurus would have never met.  T. rex lived 63-65 million years ago and Giganotosuarus lived around 97-98 million years ago.  Plus T. rex lived in NORTH America and Giganotosaurus lived in SOUTH America.

The pattern on the top Giganotosaurus isp loosely based on snake patterns I saw in Australia.
Mommy Giganotosurus hunts with her Chick

This second drawing is for younger kids to color.  In fact it is a quick drawing I did for my 2 year old grandson.  Remember that Theropods, like Giganotosaurus tended and raised their young.  So this is still a realistic scenario, even if the drawing is rather cartoony.  IF you want the baby to be female then you just add eyelashes to the chick's eye.  This is a cartooning trick.  .   . to make an animal a female just add larger eyelashes.   You might want to draw in the ground a little better.  I was experimenting with using a charcoal pen.

Jesus visits the Animals in the Rocky Mountains

Jesus visits the Animals in the Rocky Mountains
(This is the only new drawing today.)

This is not an illustration from scripture.  I just thought it would be nice to draw Jesus visiting some of His animal creations on Earth.  We live in the Rocky Mountains so these are animals I am most familiar with.  I can imagine that Jesus just might visit His many creations.  In his live among us mortals He would visit and teach and touch people's lives... often one at a time.  Other times he spoke to large groups and taught them that way.

We members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints belive that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  He, Jesus, will one day return to Earth and those who died and were rightous, who have died, will be resurrected in perfect form.  The wicked will have to wait a thousand years to be resurrected.  We believe that resurrection is when our Spirit is reunited with our bodies, only our body will be in glorified immortal perfected form.  Those of us with many health problems look forwared to that day.

IF you want to read more clear explanation of the principle of resurrection see The Book of Mormon, Another Witness for Christ and look in Alma chapter 11, verses 40-45 and all of Alma chapter 40.  We believe that Jesus losed the bands of death so all will one day be resurrected.  Then we go to our final destination of one of the Eternal Kindoms of Glory or Outer Darkness for the very very wicked.

When we die we go immediately to the Spirit World and rest from our cares, but those who have had the priviledge of learning the Gospel of Jesus Christ while on Earth will be busy teaching other Spirits about the Gospel so they can have an opportunity to accept it.

Artist's Note:  This is a rather simple drawing, one I did at church on Sunday last.  But  the thought of Jesus visiting His animals warmed my heart.  We humans are His greatest and most important creation, but I am sure He loves animals.  After all the Bible says that not a sparrow falls without Him knowing about it.  Jesus used animal examples a lot in his teachings.  Jesus is drawn with the prints of the nails in His hands and feet.  He must keep those to show us that He is our Saviour.  We will be resurrected without our scars etc.

Fairy Laurentia and her Pet

Fairy Laurentia with Box Elder Beetle

I re-drew this in large form and with pastel chalk.  So the colored vesion of Lurentia and her pet are below.  She is seen here in diminutive size, but her magic allows her to turn to the size of a mortal or human.  She went to mortal size in order to go to mortal college.  She already had the equivalent of a doctorate in her studies in the Fairy Realm.  Fairy magic is a combination of magic and very advanced technology.  If you look closely at the color drawing you will see a flying belt.  Fairies can fly short distances but they need an anti-gravity flying belt to fly long distances.  The flying belt also allows for flying at incredible speeds.   The drawing that is done in color has far more detail in the background.  The coloring page is not new.  .  . so it can be found in printable form further up the lists.   Only new drawings are at the bottom of the lists and this coloring page is not a new drawing.  Specifically in printable form by clicking on either of two buttons at the top of the blog. . . . .. . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . .. All Printables . . . . .  or . . . . . . Fantasy, Myths, and Circus.
By the way, my color drawing is not available in printable form just yet.

Unicorns and Fairies are Friends

Unicorn gets an Apple from her Fairy Friend

Unicorns and fairies are friends.  Both are magical Creatures of Light.  This drawing was done quickly for my granddaughter.  There is not a lot of detail.  .   .  because my granddaughter is very young.  So this drawing is probably for younger kids to color.

Two Cretaceous Dinosaurs T. rex and Parasurolophus

T. rex with  Pteranodon in front of a Volcano

Tyrannosaurus rex was probably the most powerful land predator ever to live on Earth.  If you heard that Spinosaurus was bigger, you are right, but Spinosaurus had weak jaws for catching and eating fish.  T. rex, on the other had, had curved banana shpaped teeth and incredibly powerful jaws that could crush bone.  In fact, I have a piece of what is almost certainly Tyrannosaur croplolite (fossilized feces or poo)  . . . and that piece of coprolite has pieces of bone imbedded inside it.  So when T. rex ate a prey species, like the Parasaurolophus seen below.... the T. rex would possibly eat it  bones and all like hyenas do.

Parasurolophus in front of a Volcano

But Parasaurolophus might not have been totally defenseless.  Parasurolophus may have used its larger crest to trumpet a very loud sound that would possibly deter a T. rex.  In fact, if a whole herd of Parasaurolophus blasted at a pack of Tyrnnosaurs it is possible that the predators would get maybe ruptured eardrums or even some bodily damage.  You see, sound IS a mechanical energy.  Parasaurolophus' crest was hollow with a chamber up either side.  So Parasaurolophus could possibly make a noise in its throat and send it up the chamber and blast the noise . . . like a large trombone out its mouth.

There is a Pteranodon in both of the new drawings.  Pteranodon was a genus of Pterosaur that was common in the Early Cretaceous of the Mesozoic Era when these dinosaurs lived.

Artist's Note:  The pattern seen on the T.rex I have done before.  It is from a Blood Python.  The Printable versions of these drawings are found by clicking on one of two buttons and scrolling down.  These top two drawings are new so they are at the bottom of the correct lists.  Click on either.....

Birds of Australia Coloring Pages

NOTE:  These are some of the drawings that I did in pencil, while on the bus tour mostly.  So they were done in pencil.  I have a lot more I need to finish, even though we have been back home for over a month.  The printable versions are found by clicking on the top buttons.

Dromornis stirtoni

This bird was one of the biggest birds ever to live on Earth.  They went exticnt around 40,000 years ago.  They were NOT  hunted to extinction by Man.  This is impossible because there is evidence that the Aborignes came to Australia possibly as early as 60,000 years ago. . . and this bird went extinct 5 million years ago.   This bird was 10 feet or 9.8 meters tall.  It weighed around 1430 lbs or 650 kg.  We are not sure if it ate plants or meat.  It may have been a fruit eater.  We saw its model at the Mega Fauna Center in Alice Springs. . . . and the plaque said it was a fruit eater.  However, some paleontologists think it may have been a predator or perhaps an omnivore.  So it may have eaten both plants and scavanged carrion. . . or maybe hunted smaller birds or small mammals.

Australian Pelicans
Australian Pelicans are beautiful and very large flying birds.  We saw them both at a zoo and in the wild while in Australia.  They have a wingspan of 2.5 meters or about 8 feet.  They feed on fish and have a pouch as part of their bill feeding apparatus.

Jabiru or Black Necked Stork
The Jabiru or Black Necked Stork is a large bird ..a wader, from the South Pacific region of the world, including Australia.  There is also a Jabiru or species of large stork in the Americas, but that is a different species of  bird.  Both makes and females of the Black Neck Stork or Australian Jabiaru look idential at first.  They have glossy black and white feathers but the irises of the eyes are different.  Males have brown eyes and females have yellow eyes.  Adults have a glossy blue-black head and neck.  Those feathers are iridescent.  The wingspan of the adult is 230 cm. or 91 inches.

Spinifex Pigeon
The Spinifex Pigeon has the large unusual crest.  It the size of a normal pigeon.  However it has some amazing face painting.   It also has some wing stripes.   Spinifex is a sharp tangled grass that is quite common in the Outback.

Crested Pigeon
The Crested Pigeon looks a lot like the Spinifex Pigeon, except the Crested Pigoen lacks the cool face paint.  So Crested Pigeons are a little more boring looking, although that cool crest is impressive to me.  They are both regular pigeon sized birds.  I should note that the two pigoen are the only photos from today's post that were not taken by me.

Artists and Blog Author's Note:  I will now re-post some other drawings of birds of Australia that I posted previously.  All drawings on today's blog were done by me and are copyrighted by Robin A. Lyman 2019.  Permission to print pictures for the purpose of coloring is granted but not for commercial purposes.   So you can't sell my drawings.  They are free to everyone.  But if you work with kids or have kids or other people who want to color my drawings then that is very acceptable.
F.Y.I. almost all the drawings on this blog were done by me.  We are approcaching 800 drawings, I think.  Anyway, here are few more birds of Australia that I posted previously.
