Mountain Dragons

Mountain Dragon

Mountain Dragons have an unfair reputation for being feirce.  In reality, they are some of the more friendly Dragons.  They do not attack unless they are attacked first.  Way back in the Middle Ages the Mountain Dragons got their bad reputation because they would be attacked by knights as soon as the Dragon was spotted.  And the knights never attacked alone.  The kinghts would be with several kights and usually an army.  Of course the Dragons kind of brought the problems on themselves because they had developed a taste for mutton.  .   . also known as sheep meat.

Now days Mountain Dragons keep to themselves, mostly.  They have a diet almost exclusively of large ungulate mammals, like deer, big horn sheep and mountain goats.  Although a Mountain Dragon might torch an occasional predator like a cougar or bear.  Mountain Dragons actually were convinced by Fairies to abandoned the more settled parts of the Old World and went into more isolated mountains.  Many also emmigrated to the New World and the Rocky Mountains and the Andes.  There are still some Mountain Dragons in the Himalayas. . . although they avoid Mount Everest due to the high number of climbers.

There are also some Mountain Dragons in the Carpathian Mountains and the Crimean Mountains of Ukraine.  In fact, this dragon is from those Ukranian Mountains.  If you live in Ukraine or any mountainous area and you wonder why you have not seen a dragon, there IS an explanation.  Draongs have powerful magic and they use that magic to cloak themselves.  You might look right at a dragon but usually you will not see it becasue of their cloaking spells or charms that they use.  Faries sometimes hang out with Mountain Dragons too.  And Fairies have integrared both magic and technology so you will not see them or the dragon they are with.  .   . unless the Fairy WANTS you to see them.   Down below is a similar drawing of a Mountain Dragon flying with a Male Mountain Fairy.  The Fairy is a resident of the Carpathian Mountains, as is his friend, the Large Mountain Dragon.
