King Benjamin teaches His People, two perspectives coloring pages

King Benjamin teaches His People
(This is a Meso-American setting.)

King Benjamin Teaches His People from the Tower
(This is a Mississippian Culture setting.)

There is a lot of discussion on where the events of The Book Of Mormon, Another Testament of Christ took place.  These two drawings represent two possible places.  The first is a Meso-American setting.  King Benjamin is wearing Mayan type clothing.  I know about that kind of clothing because I lived in Guatemala for about 9 months.  The fact that the Mayans had a written language is one reason to suppose this setting for where the Nephites and Lamanites lived.  The Aztecs (and Mayans) had a legend of a great bearded god who was going to return.

The other drawing is of King Benjamin in a North American setting.  He is wearing clothing of the Mississippian culture.  This has more recently been proposed as a setting for where the Book of Mormon events took place.  There is some evidence here as well.  DNA tests show that some Native Americans from the Eastern half of North America have an allele that is only found in one other part of the world.  That location is in Palestine.  In this setting the Mississippi River would be the River Sidon.  The location of the Hill Cumorah, where Joseph Smith found the Gold Plates (from which the Book of Mormon was translated) is in this part of the world.

I have read of other ideas where the events in the Book of Mormon all took place in the Guatemala-Yucatan Penninsula area.  Another idea, that I studied while on Study Abroad in Mexico with BYU includes both the Guatemala area along with much of Mexico.

We don't know where the events took place... but those of us who have read the Book Of Mormon, Another Testament of Christ, have a testimony that it is a true book; and that those events described in it really took place.  These drawings, which are both from previous posts, are of King Benjamin.  He had a tower built so he could talk to his people.  He was a king and a prophet.

One of the greatest scriptures ever, to me, is where King Benjamin talks to his people about service:

"I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom.
That ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your
fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your god."
Mosiah 2:17

Another great verse is where King Benjamin teaches about the Savior, Jesus Christ:

"And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be
no other name given nor any other way nor means
whereby salvation can come unto the children
of men, only in and through the name of
Christ the Lord Omnipotent."
Mosiah 3:17

King Benjamin actually talked a lot about the Savior and prophesied of His coming to Earth and of His atonement for our sins, which makes repentance possible for us.  The entire speech that King Benjamin gave to his people is in The Book Of Mormon, Another Testament of Christ, in Mosiah chapters 1-6.
