Today, in honor of Shark Week on the Discovery Channel, 

I am posting a coloring page I drew of a 

Merman with 3 young sharks of different species. 

 

Merman with 3 Young Sharks

Merpeople, or SOME Merpeople, are friendly with sharks. They have a powerful magic that keeps sharks under control... or at least the Merpeople are not in danger from sharks.  Here we see Marino, a Merman who is teaching 3 young sharks. The sharks are from 3 different species. The spotted one is a Leopard Shark. The Hammerhead Shark is the one lowest in the picture. The top shark in the picture is a young Great White 

Leopard sharks usually are only around 4-5 feet long. That is 1.2 - 1.5 meters long. But large females have been found that were up to 7 feet or 2.13 meters long. This is a juvenile Leopard Shark. 

There are 10 species of Hammerhead sharks. The Great Hammerhead Shark can be up to 20 feet or 6 meters long. This is a young Hammerhead Shark. 

Great White Sharks grow on average to be 11- 16 feet or 3.35 - 4.9 meters long.  Exceptionally large ones can be up to 21 feet or 6.4 meters long. The pups or babies are about 4 feet or 1.2 meters long. This is a juvenile Great White Shark. She is only about 6 feet or 1.8 meters long. I will admit that this juvenile Great White Shark should probably be thicker, but the markings are correct for a Great White Shark. Maybe she has had trouble finding enough to eat, and that is why Marino is helping her out. 

See what other organisms you can spot: octopus, clown fish, coral, brain coral, sand worms, and a couple of reef fish hiding in plant matter and sea grass.

Bighorn Sheep in the Rocky Mountains

Bighorn Sheep get their name from their large curved horns. They are ungulates, that is, hoofed mammals. They live in the high mountains of North America. These are NOT domesticated animals. They are wild animals.  They live here in Utah and in neighboring states that are also mountainous, like Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona, & etc.

Bighorn sheep are herbivores that eat whatever is available, including grasses and woody shrubs. That makes them both grazers and browsers. They are ruminants, which means they have multi-chambered stomachs to process tough vegetation for digestion.

Bighorn sheep can weigh up to around 320 lbs or 160 kg. The horns on the rams add up to 40 lbs of the weight. Furing the rut the males bash horns against rivals for the right to mate with the ewes. This is a very lound echoing sound that reverbarates in the mountains. The females have horns as well, but they are tiny in comaprison to the Rams' horns. Rams have extra thick skulls to handle the collisions with other rams in the fight. The force is something like 7 times the force needed to crack a human skull. 

I want to mention something about art of nature and nature itself. It is this: Repetition with Variation. My brilliant art teacher taught me that during art class. But I also realized it is true of nature. Look at the flowering shrub. Each flower is not exactly the same size or shape as the other. They are very similar so repetition. But there are differences so variation. The horns on the ram are not exactly symmetrical. That is also accurate. No two conifers are exactly the same either. This is how I strive for my art to reflect science facts of nature. I do some stylized things in my nature drawings, for example, the grass, the conifer trees, the bushes. I CAN draw bushes with individual leaves and occasionally I do. 

I was a junior high science teacher before I had to go on disability and eventually retire. Then I started this free colroing pages blog. Today I reached a million hits on this blog or site. I don't know how many hits are bots but a lot of the hits are real people from all over the world coming to my site and printing coloring pages for them or for children they know to color. I hope I am making a difference. For me, drawing is healing and literally replaced the narcotic pain medications that I was on. Drawing a dinosaur, or animal, or magical being etc. are much better for my brain than the narcotics were. But I undestand that some poeple's pain is so extreme that narcotics is the only answer. For me drawing coloring pages, posting them here, and writng about my drawings on this blog - were very healing and still to this day distract me from the pain. I just had more throat surgery two weeks ago. Yes, I WAS on pain meds in the hospital. but I'm back on drawing to manage my pain now.

Jesus comforts a Woman New Arrival in Paradise

This is a coloring page of Jesus as He comforts a woman who has just arrived in Paradise. I suppose that for some people it must be a real shock to find that they have died, left their bodies behind, and are in Paradise. I would think this would especially be true for people who die sudden deaths or are victims of violent crime or war. I like to think that Jesus welcomes them into Paradise and comforts them. This drawing or coloring page reflects that. 

I would think that Paradise looks much like the countryside and nice neighborhoods on Earth. So, this picture may reflect Jesus welcoming the spirit of a former mortal into the entryway of Paradise. Paradise is a temporary Heaven where the spirits of good people go to await resurrection. Resurrection is when we, because of Jesus, get our bodies back in immortal and glorified form. When Jesus returns to Earth in glory, then the righteous spirits, who are still in Paradise, will be resurrected to live on the Earth for a 1000 years. 

The wicked people go to Spirit Prison AKA Hell. There they suffer the price for their sins. Eventually, they also will be resurrected but to a more diminished state of glory. And they have to wait through the 1000 years of peace before they get resurrected. That 1000 years of peace is commonly called "The Millennium. The Earth will be at peace, and mortals will raise their children in righteousness.

A few Coloring Pages that are Colored

 This is a post of some of my drawings or coloring pages that were emailed to me from the University of Utah Hospital staff. The brilliant & kind caregivers there performed surgery and took care of me as I recovered. I was not the most obedient of patients. (I didn’t always wait for a nurse or CNA when I got out of bed.) One CNA or nurse caught me as I was about to collapse from dizziness. I owe her a lot!  Anyway, I gave them all my card, they went to this site, printed some coloring pages, and they colored some of my coloring pages. I drew a few of the health care providers too. I have a couple of more drawings of them to complete.

Cretaceous Animals including Dinosaurs of Saudi Arabia coloring page

Today's coloring page I drew for you is of 

Cretaceous Animals of Saudi Arabia. 

I guess I should say 

Cretaceous Animals in what is now Saudi Arabia.

Cretaceous Animals, including Dinosaurs of Saudi Arabia

About 12 years ago 2 distinct types of dinosaurs were discovered in Saudi Arabia. This was fragmentary evidence but clearly showed that one animal was a Titanosaur. Another was an Abelisaur. 

A Titanosaur is a type of long-necked Sauropod. Titanosaurs were the biggest animals to ever walk on Earth. Yet some Titanosaurs weighed only 2000 lbs or around 900 kg. These were the small ones living on islands. Other Titanosaurs were the true titans... hence the name Titanosaur. This includes huge animals like Patagotitan that was 122 feet or 37 meters long. It weighed possibly as much as 77 tons. We don't know the actual size of this Titanosaur from Saudi Arabia. There were Titanosaurs from small to large and everywhere in between. 

Abelisaurs were Theropod carnivores with short snouts. One species had short horns on its head. Abelisaurids were originally found in South America, so finding evidence of them living in what is now Saudi Arabia is a big discovery. 

The pterosaur, or flying reptile, is not a flying dinosaur. It is named Inabtanin alarabia. It was a Pterosaur found in what is now Jordan, on the Saudi Arabian border. It was not a tiny Pterosaur. It had a wingspan of almost 18 feet, or over 5 meters wide. It also lived in the Late Cretaceous, so it WAS a contemporary of these dinosaurs. 

The small mammal is indicative of the type of mammals that lived among the dinosaurs. Currently, there is no direct evidence of Cretaceous mammals in what is now Saudi Arabia. However, there is fossil evidence of mammals there AFTER the dinosaurs, so the mammals probably DID live among the dinosaurs.

Sierra the Mountain Lake Mermaid coloring page

Today's new drawing on this, my free coloring pages blog is

a type of Mermaid that is not well known, 

a Mountain Lake Mermaid.

 Sierra the Mountain Lake Mermaid

It is not generally known, but there are some Merpeople communities in lakes. This is Sierra, who is a Mountain Lake Mermaid. She and her people live high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in a freshwater lake. This shows her with some of the local wildlife, including a Brook Trout, a Rainbow Trout, a pair of Mallard Ducks, and a Snow Goose. 

I want to talk about each species. I grew up on a farm in southwest Utah, west of Delta, Utah. We would wake up in the migration season to see the fields around our house white with snow geese. It is an amazing sight. Every year they have a Snow Geese Festival. 

Brook trout are my favorite freshwater fish. They have a brilliant splash of red-orange on their underside. The meat from them is pink like salmon, and it is truly delicious!

Mallard Ducks are one of the most successful species of duck. The drakes have a distinctive green or kinda blue-green head. The hens have a pretty brown, speckled, and striped pattern on their feathers. 

Rainbow Trout have a pretty rainbow pattern on their sides. Rainbow trout are native to the Sierra Nevada Mountains where Sierra lives. Brook Trout were introduced there by mortals. Brook Trout originated on the opposite coast of North America... the East Coast area. But I mean the freshwater of those areas. Both species seen here are delicious and environmentally conscious Merpeople harvest these fish in a sustainable way. 

In this coloring page, Sierra is slowly swimming upward and partially emerging from the water to look around. This is called a "spy hop." It helps her see if any mortals are near or if any are in distress and need her assistance. 

Lake Merpeople, like Ocean Merpeople, can magically transform into mortal form. Lake Mermaids in particular are known to help prevent mortals from drowning and help them when they get lost in the woods. Mermaids and Mermen are very beautiful sentient beings. MOST are good and kind as well. Of course, kindness is the most beauty-enhancing of any quality.

Blue-Footed Boobies Courtship Dance

 If you are a frequent visitor to this coloring page site, then you know

that I have drawn Blue-Footed Boobies before. 

But I did it again.

Blue-Footed Boobies Courtship Dance

Blue-Footed Boobies are known for their striking blue feet AND blue bills. Blue-Footed Boobies have a great courtship ritual. The male starts by lifting his blue feet and dancing for the female. He displays his wings and does deep bows. Then, if she likes what she sees, she joins in on the dance. This dance for a mate establishes strong bonds between the two sexes. Blue-Footed Boobies are generally faithful to their mates. They mate for life and get together each mating season at the same nesting site each year. 

They are also known as amazing dive bombers. We watched them in the Galapagos Islands. They hover in the air or patrol around in circular patterns. Then, when they spot a target fish, they dive down at a steep angle. We saw just a pair doing this, but sometimes whole flocks do the dive bombing fishing. 

There are other species of Boobies, including Red-Footed Boobies and Nasca Boobies. All Boobies are mouth breathers. Their nostrils are used to excrete excess salt from the seawater they previously drank.

 Haolong dongi the Spiny Dragon

A new dinosaur discovery in China was fairly recently discovered. It had spiny quills - much like a porcupine's quills. This was a type of Iguanodon, and it was a juvenile. It was only 8 feet or 2.45 meters long.  Mature adults were certainly much larger. It has a name that means "Spiny Dragon." That is the Genus name of "Haolong." The species name honors a great Chinese paleontologist named Dong Zhiming. 

Haolong was an herbivore. This is the first dinosaur found with spiny quills. Other dinosaurs had spikes or horns, but not quills. Iguanodons are one of the most well-known Genus of dinosaurs. Before now, none were known to have had spiny quills. There is some conjecture that maybe Haolong had quills just as a juvenile. But the adults lost the quills. The quills were most likely there for protection from predators.

Jesus presents a Lamb coloring page

I am posting a drawing or coloring page I did last Sunday during Church.

Drawing in Church helps me stay awake and helps me to focus.

It is an ADHD adaptation or skill that has served me well.

I did not go to Church today because my surgery recovery is going rather rough, 

so if you are a praying person of faith, please include me in your prayers.

Include my wife as well. She has her own complex health challenges that are worsening.

I am Robin Andrew Lyman. She is Laurel Anne Lyman.

She helps critique the drawings that I do for this site. 

Jesus presents a Lamb

 In the Law of Moses, the Israelites learned to sacrifice a lamb to represent the future sacrifice of the Messiah or "Lamb of God." The Savior or Messiah was, in fact, Jesus Christ. HE truly was the sinless "Lamb of God" who came to Earth to suffer and die for our sins. Then He was resurrected to open the door for US to also be resurrected one day. Resurrection means we will receive our bodies back in glorified, immortal form. The Atonement is all about how Jesus suffered and paid the eternal price for our sins. This meant that we could repent of our sins. Thus Jesus opened the door to our salvation and exaltation.

Salvation refers to us being resurrected. Exaltation refers to us being able to live with our Heavenly Parents, our spouse, and our family in glory for eternity.  To learn more about this, you can contact the missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I will add that many Christian churches teach much of this beautiful doctrine and that faith in Jesus Christ can give you great peace.    I also feel that our church has the most complete truth about Jesus Christ.

This coloring page depicts Jesus presenting a lamb. This is before His atoning sacrifice. Jesus and the lamb are up in the wilderness, so in some ways this is a very symbolic drawing. Jesus is teaching us that in the wilderness of sin, HE is the Lamb of God who will be slain for the sins of the world to make the repentance of our sins possible... and He will be resurrected to break the bonds of death for all of us. He is smiling because this is a very joyful message for all of us!

Mermaid on a Tropical Beach

This is a Mermaid who is sunning herself on an isolated tropical beach. Her name is Solaria. She loves being in the sun. Believe it or not, Merpeople also enjoy sunbathing. They, like we mortal humans, make vitamin D from sunlight, and sunlight improves their mood...  just like we mortals. There are many isolated beaches and rocks where Mermaids and Mermen can find a peaceful sunsoak. Having some powerful magic, Merpeople can and do use their magic to hide themselves from mortals... unless they WANT to be seen. 

Of course, Merpeople can transform into mortal form as well. Some choose to live among mortals, and some even marry mortals and raise children in the landed world. Of course, those children have an affinity for the sea and can choose to go live with or visit their merpeople relatives. 

Kirianna the Shark Mermaid

Kirianna is seen here feeding sharks. Sharks are great hunters, but they are fine with free food. Did you know that often sharks in aquariums are kept very well-fed so they leave the other fish alone. Often aquarium workers are actually Merpeople in disguise. Merpeople can magically change to mortal form.

Addee the Shark Mermaid

Addee is seen here feeding sharks a snake eel. These are real eels found in the ocean. They just LOOK like snakes. Notice in this and the previous coloring pages... there is brain coral. And did you notice that the Mermaids have pointed ears? This is because Merpeople are a type of Fairy. Of course, almost all Merpeople can transform into mortals. And their magic is so powerful that sharks fear them. Except for some Mermaids and Mermen who are very friendly with sharks. Addee and other Shark Merpeople recognize the importance of sharks to the ocean ecosystems. 

I want to add that Merpeople are, by and large, very attractive because almost all of them are GOOD people. They are kind to other sentient beings like mortals, Elves, and Fairies. They are also kind to animals... hence seeing Addee feeding sharks. Kindness is probably the most important trait in the world. And a kind soul makes for a beautiful person - whether mortal or magical. 

Some sharks are endangered by the foolish people who think shark cartilage is a great healing thing. Shark fin soup is also eaten by some people. But remember that a healthy ecosystem is dependent on both prey and predator animals. 

Gagolia the Shark Mermaid playing with a Friendly Shark

Gagolia got her name from a shark Genus. She loves sharks and loves to play with sharks. Here she and her friend are doing a trick where, as she emerges from the water, the shark jumps over her.

I want to add that I believe the human body and soul are God's greatest creations. Therefore, I hope that you will see the beauty in these drawings. Nude art in places like the Sistine Chapel glorifies God. I won't post nude art here, although I admit that these drawings show much of the human form. Although these are fantasy drawings, I hope to portray human beauty. Some of the models in these drawings were kind caregivers who took care of me in the hospital during my last surgery adventure. They were unfailingly skillful and kind - and kindness is by far the most beautifying feature in any person...          or Mermaid. ;-) I will add that animals are also beautiful creations of God, and they are fun to draw!

Nagatitan the Titanosaur from Thailand coloring page

 Hi! I drew this newly discovered dinosaur while recovering from throat surgery. Kudos to the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and CNAs who took care of me so skillfully. My surgery went well, but I am still recovering at home. Thank you for your prayers if you were praying for me.  By the way, drawing helps me cope with the pain I frequently have in my throat - especially after surgery! So there are some other hospital-drawn coloring pages coming up soon. 

Nagatitan the Titanosaur from Thailand

Nagatitan chaiyaphumensis was a large Titanosaur found in what is now Thailand. It weighed up to 30 tons and was up to 90 feet, or about 27 meters long. It was a type of sauropod, so it was a long-necked herbivore that probably fed on ferns. Cycads and especially conifers. It lived in the Early Cretaceous Period, about 100-120 million years ago. 

The Pterosaur flying above the Titanosaur Sauropod is a Garudapterus buffetauti. It had a wingspan of 8 feet or 2.44 meters. It also lived in Southeast Asia at the same time as Nagatitan. So the drawing is accurate in that sense too. It had a unique mouth with a diamond-shaped sort of beak. 

If you are wondering why there is grass and flowering plants in this Early Cretaceous picture, know that recent discoveries have shown that flowering plants and grasses appeared much earlier than previously thought. 

The erupting volcano is a stratovolcano. it is not perfectly symmetrical, and that is also possible. Notice the angle change partway up the volcano. That is indicative of stratovolcanoes. These are the biggest type of volcano.

George Washington was the commander of the Continental Army. He never quit, and his persistence helped win the colonies their freedom. He was also the first President of the United States. He refused to run for a third term and was a great example of the peaceful transition of power.

Esther the Courageous Queen of Persia

Esther was a Jewish orphan who was raised by her Uncle Mordicai. She was considered a \Jew, yet she was from the Tribe of Benjamin. She was chosen to be the new Queen of Persia after the king got into a tiff with his then-wife. An evil noble named Haman had a plot to kill off the Jews. He hated Mordecai especially. Mordecai persuaded his niece to do something to save the Jewish people. 

Although it was punishable by death to go to the king without being summoned... Esther fasted and had the Jewish people fast for 3 days. Then she bravely went before King Ahaseurus. The king was charmed by her and did not have her executed. She wisely and craftily tricked Haman so that his plot was revealed. Before Haman's plot was revealed, the king learned that Mordecai had stopped a plot to kill the king. Then the king made Haman honor Mordecai. 

In the end, King Ahaseurus had Haman hanged on the gallows he built to hang Mordecai. Queen Esther had been successful in saving her uncle and her people. I also want to note that she was chosen to be queen because she was so very beautiful. But her faith and soul were beautiful, too. Your heart and soul have a lot to do with true beauty.

Deinocheirus Swimming in a River

Deinocheirus was a weird type of dinosaur. It was a type of ornithosaur or ostrich-like dinosaur. Its relatives were all built like ostriches and not huge. Deinocheirus was up to 40 feet or 12 meters long. It was very large, almost as large as a T. rex. It is thought to have been semi-aquatic and an omnivore. It lived in what is now Mongolia in the Late Cretaceous. This dinosaur's large arms were found 10 years before the rest of the fossilized skeleton was found.

Rebecca the Lacewing Tulip Fairy

Rebecca is a Lacewing Flower Fairy. Clearly, her flower of choice is the Tulip. She has an affinity for Lacewing Flies or commonly just called Lacewings. These pretty little delicate insects are pollinators of Tulips. The adults are herbivores, but the larval stage is a predator. 

Lacewing Fairies are sometimes known to live in the Tulips. They do a magical expansion charm to create a magical space inside the tulip that has plenty of room. These beautiful Fairies often live in cultivated fields and gardens that have tulips. So, since mortals are nearby, they often choose to magically internalize their wings, transform their pointy ears, and transform to mortal size. Then they work in service fields among the mortals. They are beautiful, but more importantly, they are very kind. And of course, kindness magnifies beauty. 

My wife and I met Rebecca in Norway. She was helping us out. We are gifted with being able to recognize Fairies so we knew what she was. She was pleased to meet mortals who were "Fairykind." Fairykind mortals can see and or recognize Fairies, including Fairies that are disguised as mortals.

David's Faith and His Sling Skills Help Him Slay Goliath

David was a young man of great faith. But he was also very skilled with his weapon of choice, his sling. He had in the past killed both a lion and a bear that raided his flock of sheep. In the Bible it says he grabbed at least one of the predators by the beard and slew it. So he was using a knife or something that time. 

But going against Goliath was certainly an act of great faith. He succeeded in killing the giant and helping the Israelites defeat the Philistines. David went on to be a great king of Israel. But his example of faith and courage is inspiring. 

Sometimes I think we all have our Goliaths to slay in our lives: our Goliath of sins, our Goliath of health challenges, our Goliath of painful relationships, our Goliath of money woes... etc. And we all need to strive to have faith to be able to get God's help with slaying our Goliaths. 

A fun little note on the coloring page: The prickly pear cactus is an introduced species in modern-day Israel. It wasn't really present during this battle. But I left it in when I found out that in Israel, if you are an Israeli born in the country, you are a Sabra. So you are prickly and rough on the outside, but soft and sweet on the inside. 

Another interesting point is that the sword seen in the drawing is what a Philistine sword looked like back then. But my granddaughter says that Goliath's sword was in his sheath. I think she's right. Also, the helmet is more accurate than most Goliath illustrations. I have seen authentic helmet illustrations at museums... illustrations of Philistine helmets of the day. It is funny how they look like sea anemones.

Norwegian Forest Fairies coloring page

 This is my free coloring pages blog. 

We are on vacation in Norway & celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary. Today we went on a hike in the woods near Bergen, Norway, & we saw two Forest Fairies, so I drew them. My wonderful wife of Norwegian descent & I are some of the few mortals who frequently can see Fairies.

Unfortunately, I can’t post this drawing in printable form until we return home. But I want to say that the people (& Fairies) of Norway are very kind. They are also beautiful, happy people. Of course, their sunny disposition and especially their kindness enhance their beauty remarkably. 

In fact, my wife & I got a little lost in the woods today, and we heard two small but beautiful voices call to us from a nearby tree. There were two lovely & helpful Fairies in the tree. Tiril & Kaja led us to the correct trail to find the beautiful lake we were looking for.  By the way, in this drawing Kaja is closer than Tiril, so because of perspective she looks larger, but both are beautiful little Fairies that are around 5 inches tall. 

Of course, like all Fairies, Kaja & Tiril can magically transform into mortal size and internalize their wings. They can also magically hide their cute little pointy ears. Tiril & Kaja like to help out mortals, so, like many Fairies, they live a double life in both the mortal world and the Fairy Realm. Many Fairies work in the hospitality industry or in medical care. Being naturally gifted with animals (Fairies can talk to and understand animals), many Fairies work as veterinary techs or as veterinarians. 

I will scan and repost this coloring page I drew when we return from Norway. Then you will have a clearer coloring page, and you’ll be able to print the picture. 

       Several days and a plane ride later...

I wrote the above while we were on vacation. We have been home a few days and are dealing with jet lag. So, today I am reposting the drawing or coloring page. So, you CAN print the coloring page now. And the image posted on this page is now much clearer since I was able to use our scanner instead of just a photo of the drawing/coloring page.   BUT my family is doing a Juneteenth celebration, so I will finish reposting this in a few minutes.

OK, I am back. We had a special red drink and talked about how evil slavery was and the freeing of the African American slaves. I will now post the printable version of this coloring page. But first I want to thank the people of Bergen, Norway... and especially the staff of the Grand Hotel Terminus in Bergen. Terminus was a funny name for me because I am an Isaac Asimov fan and I really love his Foundation Series. In that series, the new capital of the galaxy will be on the planet Terminus.

Sierria the Damselfly Fairy coloring page

Today's new coloring page is of a Damselfly Fairy.

Sierria the Damselfly Fairy

Damselflies are related to dragonflies, but damselflies are smaller. Both damselflies and dragonflies are in the insect order of Odonata. Damselfly Fairies, like Sierria, are protectors of these small but beautiful insects. Many damselflies are found high in the mountains and near mountain lakes, creeks, and streams. I should say near and in the mountain water because the larval stage of this insect lives in the water. 

Like many Fairies who live or work out in Nature, Sierria has a mountainous name. This is because damselflies thrive in the waters of the Sierra Nevada Mountains... and Sierria is a Damselfly Fairy. There are many, many different species of damselflies in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. 

In this drawing, you see Sierraia near some Mariposa Lilies. These are native flowers that live in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  Mariposa Lily flowers resemble tulips. A damselfly is seen flying just over Sierria's head.

Loki and Lokiceratops coloring page

Loki, the Norse God of Mischief

Loki is a Nordic or Norse God. He is neither evil nor good; he is more about chaos. Loki wears a helmet with large curved horns.

This Ceratopsian dinosaur had many horns - including two large curved horns on its frill. This is why it was named after the Norse God of Mischief. Both the dinosaur and the Norse god have curved horns. Of course, Lokiceratops had many more horns than two. It had two large eyebrow horns above its eyes. In fact, Lokiceratops had 24 horns, counting its frill horns and its brow horns. It did not have a nose horn like its later cousin Triceratops. It was 22 feet long, or almost 7 meters long. It lived 78 million years ago in the Late Cretaceous, but not in the Very Late Cretaceous Period. 

This dinosaur's fossils were found in Montana, USA. But it is named after a Norse God... even though it was not found in Norway or any other Nordic country.

Malawania anachronus an Ichthyosaur from Iraq

Malawania anachronus was an Ichthyosaur that was found in Iraq. OK, its fossilized skeleton was found in Iraq. It was from the early Cretaceous Period. Yet it was less derived than other contemporary Ichthyosaurs. Ichthyosaurs first appeared in the Triassic, and they evolved to be huge. Later Jurassic Ichthyosaurs were smaller but still very successful predators of the period. In the early part of the Late Cretaceous Period, Ichthyosaurs finally went extinct. That was around 94 million years ago. Malawania lived around 130-125 million years ago. So, Malawania had features more like the Triassic Ichthyosaurs. 

So this shows that there were some lineages of Ichthyosaurs that lived in the seas from 250 million years ago to 125 million years ago. If you do the simple math, you see that this lineage of Ichthyosaurs lived in the sea for around 125 million years. That is astounding! 

Malawania was around 3 meters or 10 feet long. So it was not as large as the giant 70-foot-long Ichthyosaurs of the Triassic Period. However, it had some of the traits of those more ancient Ichthyosaurs. Notice the large eyes. Malawania was a type of Opthalmasaurus. These were Ichthyosaurs that could see well in the dark. Their large eyes were able to gather a tremendous amount of light when they dived deep for prey such as Ammonites. In fact, the Malawania in the coloring page is after an Ammonite. 

Off in the more blurry distance is a Pliosaur after a Plesiosaur. There were bony fish and also sharks, squid, and crabs in the early Cretaceous Period - and they can also be seen. The flowery-looking animals are not plants. They are called Sea Lilies or Crinoids.

Elven Healers are gifted with both excellent medical skills and the good or white magic of the Elves. They are also very kind as well as brilliant. Of course, like all Elves, Laney is a beautiful person who knows that her beauty is also tied up in being a very kind and good person. Laney will sometimes go to help in battle as a healer. However, her skills at fighting would put most mortals to shame. 

Rangers roam the wild and do good. They are not robbers; they are more like law-keepers who fight against the evil in the world. Noble is also part Elf back many generations in his ancestry, so he will live well beyond the lifespan of a purely mortal man. Noble is a handsome man, and he is also handsome on the inside because he travels around doing good. Noble also has some healing skills. Of course, his fighting skills are legendary. He met Laney when they were working together after a battle of Men and Elves vs. the Goblins and Orcs.

Alaskan King Crab on the Beach

The show Deadliest Catch is about fishermen and fisherwomen fishing for crab in the Bering Sea up near Alaska. I find it an amazing show. They are on a rolling deck dropping and retrieving crap pots that weigh hundreds of pounds. The "pots" are actually cages. Crabs detect the bait and crawl into the cages, and can't get out. 

The crew has to retrieve the pot from hundreds of feet below what is often a rough sea. Finding where the crabs are is not always easy. In fact, it is very hard. The fishermen fish for several different species of crab, but not at the same time. Meaning that there is a King Crab season and an Ophilio Crab season, etc. 

The personal relationships and the personalities are what really drive the show. I find them fascinating and entertaining as well. Season 22 started a few weeks ago, and episode 3 is on this Friday, May 22, 2026. 

In this drawing, the crab is walking on a beach. Cold-climate plants and some other marine animals are also seen on the sand. See if you can spot them: A clam, a piece of driftwood, a large pinecone, a branch off of a pine tree, a serrated leaf, a starfish, and a piece of kelp that washed ashore.

There are over 100 species of starfish in the Bering Sea. The beaches of Alaska frequently have kelp washed ashore. Know that kelp is not a plant, it is plant-like... but it is in Kingdom: Protista. Shore pines live near the shore, but I have to admit that their pinecones are way smaller than the pinecone in my drawing.

Drawing helps my ADHD mind pay attention better, and I don't fall asleep. 

A New Simple Portrait of Jesus

Jesus is our older Spirit Brother. Before we came to Earth, we lived with Him and our Heavenly Parents in a pre-Earth life. This is sometimes called the "Preexistence." In this preexistence, we had billions of Spirit brothers and sisters. This time included us progressing and getting ready to come to Earth and receive physical bodies. There was also a war in Heaven. Lucifer or Satan fought against Jesus and our Heavenly Father. Satan lost, and he and 1/3 of the hosts of Heaven were cast down to Earth. They have not passed through the veil WE passed through at birth. 

In the premortal life, Jesus volunteered to be our Savior. He agreed to come to Earth as the Son of God and pay the eternal price for our sins. This is called the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The Atonement makes it possible for us to repent. Without Jesus, we could not repent, and we could never return to live with our Heavenly Parents. So as they say, "Jesus is the answer."

In His time on Earth, Jesus taught us to be kind to one another and to believe in Him. He also taught about repentance and forgiveness. He suffered for our sins and died for us. Then He was resurrected three days later. Because He was resurrected, we all too will be resurrected one day - with immortal bodies. Then we will be able to also live with our spouse and family throughout the eternities as well. Of course, we all have to have faith in Christ, repent of our sins, and strive to do better.

Corgis and Fairies coloring pages

Today, there are two drawings.

One is of a Corgi being ridden by a Fairy.

The second is a cartoon drawing of a Corgi in a front yard.

Fairy Warrior riding a Corgi

There are legends and tales from Wales of Corgis being the steeds of Fairies. There were also stories of Fairies riding Corgis into battle. The word "Corgi" means "Dwarf Dog" in Welsh. This drawing of the Corgi is based on a real Corgi that lives in our home. 

The next drawing is a kind of cartoony coloring page of a Corgi puppy. 

Corgi Puppy named Poppy 

There are actually two main types of Corgis. One is the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. The other is an older breed, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi. We have a Corgi named Poppy in our home. She is actually a furrier, or fuzzier, or hairier type... namely the Cardigan Welsh Corgi. The Pembroke Welsh Corgis have shorter fur. So even though Poppy is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi, this second drawing has a cartoon-style drawing of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. The top drawing is actually based on a photo of Poppy. I am actually kinda breaking the rules because Fairies are supposed to ride Pembroke Welsh Corgis, and I drew the Fairy Warrior riding a Cardigan Welsh Corgi. By the way, Fairies are supposed to have used Corgis to pull carts as well as riding the Pembroke Welsh Corgis into battle.

Bicharracosaurus dionidei, a new Brachiosaur Sauropod from Argentina

*Bicharracosaurus dionidei*, un nuevo saurópodo braquiosáurido de Argentina

Lo más interesante de *Bicharracosaurus* es que, en realidad, se trata de un tipo de braquiosáurido. Anteriormente, los braquiosáuridos solo se conocían en Europa, África y América del Norte; no se había encontrado ninguno en América del Sur. Por lo tanto, este hallazgo sugiere una migración, ya que durante esa etapa del período Jurásico —hace unos 155 millones de años— el supercontinente de Pangea solo se había fragmentado parcialmente. Antes de este descubrimiento, los principales saurópodos conocidos en América del Sur eran los enormes titanosaurios, tales como *Patagotitan* y *Argentinosaurus*. Estos titanosaurios eran de un tamaño mucho mayor y vivieron en una época muy posterior a la de *Bicharracosaurus*.

El nombre "*Bicharracosaurus*" significa "lagarto animal grande". Medía 20 metros de longitud (unos 65 pies). Aunque pertenece al grupo de los braquiosáuridos, presenta algunas características que recuerdan a las de un *Diplodocus*. Se trataba de un saurópodo de cuello largo. El nombre específico "*dionidei*" rinde homenaje al pastor argentino que descubrió los primeros huesos fosilizados.
