Nicholsina the Parrotfish Mermaid coloring page

This is a free coloring pages blog.

There are over 2700 drawings that you can print and color.

Today's new drawing is of a special type of Mermaid... a Parrotfish Mermaid.

Nicholsina the Parrotfish Mermaid

Nicholsina is a Parrotfish Mermaid.  She travels the seas to check on the well-being of the hundreds of species of parrotfish.  Of course, she has some magical powers that assist her in swimming long distances to visit the parrotfish of the entire world.  In fact, the name "Nicholsina" is a name of a Genus of parrotfish.  This Genus live in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.  In this picture, Nicholsina actually is in the waters near Florida, USA.

Like a few Mermaids, Parrotfish Mermaids often have colorful scales and often a rainbow pattern like the well-known rainbow trout from freshwater streams and lakes.  Parrotfish Mermaids, like Nicholsina have these colorful patterns because many of the parrotfish they protect and care for have similar multicolored scales - with beautiful variety among the different species.

Parrotfish are an amazing family of fish.  There are over 900 species of parrotfish.  These are a type of bony fish and do us all a unique service.  They EAT coral and then excrete out what becomes beautiful sand - that ends up forming many beautiful beaches. In order to bite and eat the hard coral the bite force of a parrotfish is over 500 tons per square inch!

This drawing is partially based on my granddaughter's Mermaid doll.  It is not a copy of the doll, just inspired by the doll.  The stripes are because the doll has rainbow stripes... something like a rainbow trout. Also, notice that a current is making Nicholsina’s hair drift to our left - & her right.  That same current is affecting the bubbles.  Can you tell the direction of the current?

Alikiah the Helpful Beach Fairy coloring page

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog!

Today's new drawing is of Alikiah the Beach Fairy.

Beach Fairy named Alikiah

Alikiah is a Beach Fairy.  She specializes in helping animals found near or on the beach.  In fact, Alikiah means "helpful."  She is seen here at about 1/2 or maybe even 3/4 mortal size.  Her normal Fairy size is about 5 inches or 12.7 cm tall so she has chosen to transform to this juvenile mortal size.  All Fairies can transform from their small Fairy size to as large as a mortal.

Alikiah is seen with an injured Black Headed Gull.  The Fairy is guarding the injured bird until a Healer Fairy who is more skillful at the magical healing arts can arrive to heal the gull.  Beach Fairies can communicate telepathically to the animals that live on or near the beach, so Alikaih is soothing the gull even as she is keeping watch.

Black Headed Gulls are about between 14 and 17 inches long.  That is 37-44 cm.  They have a wingspan of 37-43 inches or 94-110 cm.  They live in many parts of the world, especially the more northern parts.  However, they have been known to winter as far south as Hawaii.  In fact, this Black Headed Gull and Beach Fairy are on a Hawaiian beach.

NOTE;  This drawing can be found in printable form by clicking on the button labeled "Fantasy, Myths, and Cirucs" or "Birds."  You'll then need to scroll down to the bottom of the list.

By the way, many of the drawings found at the top of the lists do not automatically give you access to printing.  You'll need to request access and I will get it to you.  I am working on fixing this problem.

Triceratops coloring pages for small children

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawings are for younger children to color.

Both drawings are of Triceratops.

Triceratops Calf feeding on Ferns

These two drawings are of the Ceratopsian dinosaur called Triceratops.
Triceratops weighed up to 26,000 lbs or 13 tons.  It may have been
able to run up to 20 mph.  It was around 30 feet long and had
long eyebrow horns that were up to 3.77 feet or 1.15 meters long.
Triceratops had a ball joint where its neck connected with its head.
This means that an adult Triceratops could swing its head that
was bearing double swords nearly 4 feet long.
THIS drawing is for smaller children to draw and it is of a Triceratops calf
that is feeding on ferns.  We now know that there was also grass by the time Triceratops lived.
It lived on the Earth for a long time for a single species.
It lived 83.5 to 66 million years ago.  That is 17.5 million years that Triceratops lived
on Earth.  The average length of the presence of a species is 3 million years.
So, Triceratops was very, very, very successful.
THIS drawing is a cartoon drawing for young children to color.

Triceratops and Pteranodon near a Volcano

Pteranodon was a rather larger and very successful Pterosaur or flying reptile of the Mesozoic Era.

Pteranodon had a wingspan of 18 feet or 5.5 meters.  Triceratops was 30 feet long  This is a cartoon

drawing of a fairly young Triceratops.  It is for young children to color.

NOTE:  These drawings are found by clicking on the button labeled "Paleontology" and then scrolling down to the bottom of the list of drawings.  Below are a few other Triceratops drawings for younger children to color.  The below drawings are from previous posts so their printable versions are found further up the list or list of titles of paleontology drawings.

Faries and Unicorns coloring pages

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

Today's 2 new drawings are each of a Unicorn and a Fairy.

Fairy greeting a Young Unicorn

(New drawing)

Notice that the Fairy has a lighted wand.  This is a drawing in the early evening when the birds are

coming home to roost.  The Fairy is a Mountain Night Fairy at the start of her rounds.  Many Unicorns

are nocturnal - as is this young Unicorn filly.  The shadows reflect that the source of the light

is the Night Fairy's wand.  This is a Mountain Unicorn filly.  The Fairy is named Aurolina and the

Unicorn is named Existia.  Unicorns and Fairies are almost always friendly with each other.

Fairy gifts an Apple to a Unicorn

(New drawing)

As was said before, Fairies and Unicorns are nearly always friendly to each other.

This is because they are both magical sentient beings of light, not dark.

This fairy, named Malia, is giving an Apple to a Unicorn she has just met.

Unicorns are inordinately fond of apples.  In fact, many Unicorns are connoisseurs of

various types of apples.  THIS Unicorn, named Goldie is unsurprisingly fond of

Golden Delicious apples.  Malia heard about this so she acquired a Golden

Delicious apple to gift to her new friend.  Of course, this was their

first meeting and thereafter they DID become good friends.

NOTE:  These drawings are available in printable form by clicking on the button labeled
Fantasy, Myths and Circus.  Then scroll down to the bottom of the list for these drawings.

Below are some other Unicorn and Fairy drawings from previous posts. The older printable pages are found further up the list so you will need to search the long list.

Daisy Doggy the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel coloring page

Welcome or welcome back to my free coloring pages blog.

Sorry its been a few days but we have been dog-sitting a sweet

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Her name is Daisy and she belongs to my sister.

So, I decided to draw her.

Daisy Doggy the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Daisy left our home today.  It was hard to let her go but her people-mommy came to get her.

Daisy is very sweet,  She is even a therapy dog.  She is gentle and yet enthusiastic about life.

She is also very loving... a true lapdog.  I would recommend looking at the photo to help you get

the correct colors and patterns on Daisy's fur.

David battling One on One coloring page

This is my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawings are of David from the Old Testament.

A quick note first:  The drawings listed at the top of the lists of printable drawings are sometimes not printable until you send me a request and then I will make them available to you for printing.

David slays a Bear

David, who later slew the giant Goliath slew both a lion and a bear first... while he was watching over his father's sheep. David clearly had great faith and was assisted by God.  So, when David told Saul that he, David, would fight Goliath David did so with the power of God.  David even told King Saul that he, David, could fight a lion and a bear so he could kill Goliath.  David had great faith.  And he had past experiences of faith and God's protecting hand to prove it. By the way, the bear that David killed was a Syrian Brown Bear.  That species is the smallest of all Brown Bears and it lives the furthest South as well. We don't know how old David was when he killed the lion and the bear, nor do we know with certainty his age when he slew Goliath.

David slays Goliath

This drawing has Goliath in authentic armor and helmet of the Philistines.

"Religion" button.  Then scroll down to the bottom of the "Old Testament" section for these

new drawings.    I imagined David climbing on the rise and waiting until point-blank range to

throw the rock with his sling.  Of course, the rock killed Goliath... or maybe it just knocked him out

and Goliath died when David cut his head off.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking on the button labeled "Religions and then you need to scroll down to the bottom of the "Old Testament" section.  Have fun coloring!

Paul the Apostle on Trial coloring pages

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

Today we have two drawings.  They are drawings of Paul the Apostle

on trial before some of his fellow Romans.

Paul teaches King Agrippa

Paul before Agrippa, Berenice, & Festus

There is so much to be said about Paul the Apostle.  I will just say a brief bit.  This pair of drawings are of Paul the Apostle on trial. I drew the first one of Paul before King Agrippa, but I suppose it should be called "Paul before Festus."  Festus heard Paul's case and because of the false testimony of the Jewish Leaders Paul was forced to appeal to Ceasar.  Paul was a Roman citizen and he had the right to appeal to the Roman Emperor. In this first drawing, I based the profile of King Agrippa on the image on an ancient Roman coin that had the image of King Agrippa.

Festus introduced Paul to King Agrippa and King Agrippa's sister, Berenice.  Paul spoke boldly about Jesus Christ and how Jesus appeared to him when he, Paul, was persecuting Christians.  So the second drawing is more accurate.  It has Paul before King Agrippa, Berenice, and Festus.

Paul had been a chief persecutor of the Christians.  Yet he became one of the greatest missionaries of all time.  Paul was fearless, I think because he had absolute faith on our Lord Jesus Christ.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking on the "Religion" button and then scrolling down to the bottom of the "New Testament" part of that list.

Kayia the Mermaid coloring page

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog... or welcome back!

Today's new drawing is of a Mermaid.

 Kayia the Mermaid

This is the beautiful and kind Mermaid named Kayia.  She is beautiful on the outside and even more beautiful on the INside.  She is particularly good with children.  You may not know this but some Mermaids like to reveal themselves to children.  They are very very kind and so some children know that Mermaids are real.  The children grow up and remember the magical experience they had.

Another surprising thing is that Mermaids and Mermen sometimes transform into their mortal form and work on cruise ships.  The cruise ship companies know who they are, but the mortal passengers are kept in the dark.  Many cruise ships, unbeknownst to the passages, have underwater entrances for Mermaids and Mermen.  The Mer-folk like to go swimming in the ocean frequently.  Some Mer-folk like to race along the underside of moving cruise ships to get to their entrance - when the ship is on the move.  In this drawing Kayia is planning on doing just that.  She works in the children's program of the ship.

Some aquariums, like the Downtown Aquarium in Denver, have wonderful Mermaid Shows.  You may think that their Mermaids are costumed mortals... and you would be wrong.  After the show, the Mermaids can transform into their mortal form and go to their home or apartment.  Many Mer-people keep a home among the mortals.  They also like to work as Marine Biologists and other jobs that keep them close to either the sea or a saltwater source like a big aquarium.

By the way, we know that when she is not working on a cruise ship, Kayia works at the Downtown Denver Aquarium.  Our daughters and their husbands, and our grandkids met her at a Private Meet & Greet.  Kayia was amazingly kind to the kids - talking with them - answering their questions.  She then was wheeled into the big aquarium and put on a fantastic underwater show for all of us.

I will be doing more drawings of Kayia soon.  The next one will be when she was swimming for

One more thing.  The cruise ship is very loosely based on the Royal Caribbean Line's Rhapsody of the Seas.  We have been on that ship twice so we probably had Mer-people as our waiters, cooks, etc. In fact, we are sailing on that ship again in a few months!  I wonder if any of the Mer-people will reveal themselves to us.

NOTE.  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking on the button labeled "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus."  Then scroll down to the bottom of the list for this title.  Have fun coloring!

Solar Energy Technician coloring page

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing is of a Solar Energy Technician.

I will be posting more about Solar Energy later.

Solar Energy Technician

I am making a new category of drawing.  It will be called: "Professions."  Today's drawing will be the first drawing I put in this new category.  However, I will be adding a few other drawings I have done in the past that qualify for this category.  I will also be drawing more pictures of people engaged in their professions.  This great idea came from my son.  He is involved in the Solar Energy Industry.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking the new button "Professions."

T rex Juveniles on the Prowl coloring pages

Today's two new coloring pages are 2 different versions of the same T. rex Juvenile.

The first is called "T rex Baby on the Prowl.

The second is probably more accurate because the T rex chick is feathered.

T rex Baby on the Prowl

Feathered T rex Chick on the Prowl

Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the last big Theropod Dinosaurs.  It was possibly 44 feet long and up to 18,000 lbs... depending on what formula is doing the weight estimation.  There is solid evidence that T rex and the other Theropods probably hunted in packs.  There is also evidence that the Theropod dinosaurs, big or small, cared for their young.  THESE little T rex chicks seem to have escaped the care of their parents.  There is also evidence that both parents cared for the offspring.

The first drawing is of a non-featherd Tyrannosaurus rex chick or baby.  The second is the same drawing modified to have feathers - or at least proto-feathers.  The second drawing is probably the more accurate.  A professor of Paleontology at the University of Utah told me that he thinks it is only a matter of time before we find a T rex fossil that has feather impressions like Archaeopteryx and Microraptor.

I will correct myself and point out that possibly the large Theropods had protofeathers only when they were young.  When you are huge shedding heat is a problem if you live in a warm climate.  And during the Cretaceous Period, when T rex lived, North America was pretty warm.

A huge upsurge of volcanic activity warmed the Earth up BEFORE the asteroid wiped out most of the dinosaurs and especially the large ones.

NOTE:  To get to the free printable page of these drawings just click on the button labeled "Paleontology" and then scroll down to the bottom of the list.  The new drawings are at the bottom of the correct list.  By the way, some of the older drawings at the top of the list might not print anymore.  But the bottom 3/4 of the lists DO have printable drawings.

IF you want to print one of my earlier drawings just ask via the email button                                        and I can authorize access to the drawing.

Divya the Bee Fairy from India coloring page

Welcome back to my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing is of a Fairy from India.

Her name is Divya and she is from Southern India.

Divya the Bee Fairy from India

First of all, I want to admit that I know very little about the Fairies from India.  I DO know that they are found more often in the Southern part of India.  They also tend to be taller than most other Fairies.  Fairies in India are around 7 inches or 17.78 cm.  Most other Fairies, in their natural state, are around 5 inches or 12. cm tall.

Divya is unusual for a Bee Fairy in that she has wings that are not lace wings like bees have.  Even so, Bee Fairies are striving to help protect the bee population worldwide.  Bees are responsible for something like 80% of our food.  Bees travel from flower to flower and bring the pollen that fertilizes the eggs in the flower.  Worldwide there has been a scary decline in the population of bees.

I should add that "Divya" is a common name in India.  Interesting that a "Diva" is one name for an adult female Fairy.

Divya, seen in this drawing, is also obviously a Mushroom Fairy.  Thus, she is sitting on a mushroom.

NOTE:  To get this drawing, in printable form, just click on the button labeled "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus."  Then scroll down to the bottom of the list.  New drawings are at the bottom of the list.  In fact, some of the early drawings don't work until you ask for permission.  I will then get an email and I can authorize you to print the drawing.  This is because of some kind of Google security update.
