Dragonfly Fairy and other Insect-Friendly Fairies coloring pages

This is a free coloring pages blog.

There are over 1200 drawings to print and color.

Today's new drawing is of a Dragonfly Fairy

Dragonfly Fairy on Elm Tree Branch
(This is the one new drawing today.)

Dragonfly Fairies love dragonflies, of course.  The Dragonfly Fairies keep watch over the local dragonflies and even use defensive charms to deter aggressive swallows who are hunting dragonflies.
Dragonfly Fairies spend a lot of time hanging out near ponds, lakes, and rivers - where dragonflies lay their eggs.  But that does not mean that all Dragonfly Fairies live near water.  Because of the Baltaeus Volantum or flying belt that most Fairies wear a Dragonfly Fairy can fly from a village hundreds of miles away to be near their beloved dragonflies.  This is possible because the flying belt helps a Fairy fly great distances at high speed.  Without the flying belt, any Fairy can still fly, but not as fast nor as far.

Dragonfly Fairies are friendly and can communicate with their dragonfly friends.  Dragonflies have limited intelligence but they know when another living thing is their friend.

IF you are a normal mortal and you saw a Dragonfly Fairy then the Fairy Magic would make you see a large dragonfly instead of a Fairy.  The Fairies all have charms that can hide them from prying mortal eyes.  Of course, if you are a friend to Fairies then you would see the Dragonfly Fairies... and all Fairies if they, the specific Fairy was inclined to let themselves be seen.

Dragonflies are predatory insects.  As adults, they feed on small insects like mosquitos.  And in the aquatic larva state, they feed on other insect larvae... like mosquito larva.  So if you hate mosquitos then you should love dragonflies.  Dragonflies have a lifespan that includes the egg stage... with the eggs laid in the water.  Then larva stage where the dragonfly larva lives, sometimes for years, in the water and preys on other insect larvae.  Then they emerge from the water into their adult stage.  Some dragonflies have a life cycle that only lasts 6 months but some larger dragonflies have a life cycle that goes for six or seven years.

There was a dragonfly 300 million years ago, in the Paleozoic Era, that was nearly 3 feet long.  That is about a meter long.  It is now extinct, of course.  There IS a dragonfly living species from Central and South America that is 7.5 inches long or 19 cm long.

By the way, if you are wondering why the leaves are not symmetrical it is because the leaves on Elm Trees are NOT symmetrical.
