Elf Mother coloring page

The buttons above give you access to printable coloring pages. New drawings are at the bottom of the correct list. Today's free coloring page is of a lovely Elvish or Elf mother and her son.

Hanawyn an Elf Mother with Her Son Glenoraborn

Yes, Elves have mothers.  This is one of those beautiful Elf Mothers with her son.  The Elvish mother is named Hanawyn and her son is Glenoraborn.  She has other children as well.  These are Wood Elves so they live in the forest.  Here we see mother and child after the son has been swimming in the river.  He is wrapped in a type of Elvish towel that has the charm to warm him up after swimming in the cool river water.

Hannia Azuria the She-Elf Warrior coloring page

This is my second post today.  So, of course, this post is at the top of my blog.

The first post is my drawing of Barbaridactylus so it is the post below this one.

This post is a drawing of a Fairy She-Elf Warrior.

Hannia the She-Elf Warrior

Hannia Azuria is one of the Blue-Elf warriors.  Blue-Elves love being near the water or even IN the water.  More specifically they love lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, etc.  So they love freshwater.  Blue Elves are known to be great swimmers.  They are not merpeople, so they can not breathe water, but they are capable of holding their breath for 20 minutes.

She-Elf warriors help protect the areas around the Elf cities and villages.  They are powerful warriors, however, they only fight when necessary.  That rule does not apply to how they deal with dark creatures like orcs, trolls, etc.

Hannia, and most Blue Elves, prefer an Elvish short-sword.  A large sword would get in the way of swimming.  Hannia is seen here near a river.  Her armor is made of mithril so it is quite light, therefore she can go into the water without sinking to the bottom.  Traditional armor makes swimming impossible.  Mithril is a type of silvery metal that is incredibly strong so when made into armor it is very thin - which makes the armor very light.  Mithril does not float, but armor made of mithril is perfectly safe for swimming.  Mithril is closely related to Beryllium, only Mithrill is not brittle.

Hannia Azuria is seen here standing behind a large boulder that is next to a river.  If you could see her legs you would see that they are armor free.  She also does not carry a shield..  Blue Elves spend so much time in the water that they are known to not wear leg armor the free their legs for swimming.  "

A final note on Hannia Azuria, Hannia means "a place to rest or be happy."  "Azuria" is a stunning Aqua-Blue color.  I am sure you know that Elves are beautiful people, although not mortal.  Blue Elves are particularly beautiful, even for Elves.  I will add that the coloring page format of art can not capture the full physical beauty of such beautiful people.

Meikelia the Water Nymph rescues a Puppy

This is a free coloring pages blog.

I am a retired science teacher who likes to draw.

There are over 2000 drawings that I have done

that are on this blog for you to print and color.

Today's new drawing is of a Water Nymph.

Meikelia the Water Nymph rescues a Puppy

Water Nymphs sometimes get an undeserved bad name due to the well known legend of evil sirens and how they are depicted in mythology. In reality, Water Nymphs are a type of magical being - closely related to Fairies.  Water Nymphs are mostly friendly, beautiful, light hearted, and kind.  There are only a very few that lure men to water and drown them (the Sirens)..  Like Fairies, Water Nymphs are mostly beings of light and are helpful to mortals.  Some Water Nymphs even have wings.  This is a drawing of Meikelia, a Water Nymph who has just rescued a puppy that fell into the lake.  She is a wingless Water Nymph. Not only is Meikelia very kind but she is also very beautiful.

Water Nymphs tend to wear flowing translucent clothing - when they choose to wear clothing. Of course, some Water Nymphs like to visit the popular mortal beaches.  To do this they will charm up a mortal-style swimming suit and show up at the beach by walking out of the water.  This tends to be freshwater beaches on lakes, however Water Nymphs can tolerate seawater.  But they prefer freshwater bodies of water. In fact freshwater Nymphs are also called Naiads.

After Meikelia gives the puppy back to his mortal people she will use a type of Fairy charm (Olvidalo) to make the mortals forget they saw her.  Of course, sometimes that charm does not work and some motals are left with a beautiful memory of a kind and beautiful Water Nymph encounter.  Even more rare days s a Naiad who wants an ongoing friendship with a mortal or mortals.  Sometimes a whole family will get befriended by one or more Water Nymphs.

Once in a while a Naiad will marry a mortal and choose a mortal life.  This is an interesting relationship because although not immortal, Water Nymphs tend to live for sometimes several hundred years. So, in order to hide their true nature from non-family members the Naiads will perform an ongoing aging charm (Aspicio Major) to make it appear to non family members that they are aging at the same pace as their spouse.  However, with their spouse and family they usually maintain their natural appearance.

Children and descendants of a mortal & Water Nymph marriage love the outdoors and especially love being in bodies of water like lakes, rivers, ponds, & even swimming pools.  In fact, some of the Olympic level swimmers have a Water Nymph in their family genealogy.

These descendants of Water Nymphs who live in the Mortal World will often reconnect with Water Nymph family and friends when visiting a lake or river or pond. These descendants of a Water Nymph & Mortal marriage (who choose to live in the Mortal World) are likely to choose a career related to the outdoors.  (Such as working in a sporting goods store, or working as a forest ranger, biologist, etc.)  Descendants of Sea Nymphs will choose a career involving the ocean such as deep sea fishing, sailor, or even marine biology.

Meikelia works in outdoor recreation. She particularly  loves water sports and is known for her love of animals - especially doggies.  She is also kind, personable & helpful to all the mortals she meets.  Besides being strikingly beautiful (like all Water Nymphs) Meikelia is also very intelligent.  She passes on her enthusiasm for the great outdoors to the mortals she came in contact with.

In mythology Water Nymphs- especially Naiads, are depicted as beautiful, friendly, light hearted & sexy.  The legends & myths failed to note that Water Nymphs are also extremely intelligent.  This makes it easy for a Water Nymph to adapt to mortal life.  Of course that intelligent mind is passed on to the descendants of Water Nymphs.

Having met Meikelia, in a mortal setting, I am not entirely sure if she is a Naiad who chose a mortal life or a descendant that came out of a mortal & Water Nymph marriage.  But her beauty, intelligence, & enthusiasm for life was obvious to my wife and I.

As a final note I want to mention the Potamoi.  They are called River Gods in Mythology, but a Potamoi is actually a male Water Nymph.  These are like the female Nymphs in that they are attractive, kind, and intelligent.

Butterfly Fairies and Bird Fairies coloring pages

Welcome to my free printable coloring pages blog!

Today's drawings are unique in that one Fairy was drawn

while I was in the

Operating Room prep room.

The second was done while I was in the recovery room after my surgery.

Bird Fairy named Robin with a robin

(new drawing)

Bird Fairies often will choose a specific species of bird to care for and befriend.  This Fairy is named Robin, so you can imagine what species the bird is.  The bird is a Turdis americana or an American Robin.  There are many types of robins in other parts of the world.

IF you are wondering about the size of this Fairy then you need to remember that Fairy magic, working with advanced Fairy technology, can allow all Fairies to change to any number of sizes... within reasonable limits.  The robin seen here is about 10 inches long or about 25.4 cm long.  So, Robin, the Bird Fairy is 43 inches or 109.2 cm tall.  She could choose to be her natural height of around 5 inches or 12.7 cm.  But she likes this size for interacting with her bird friends.  Notice that this Bird Fairy actually has bird-like wings.

I drew this picture while waiting for surgery at the University of Utah Hospital.  My inspired surgeon was able to get me fixed up.  I even was able to come home that afternoon.  In fact, it was just yesterday.

Butterfly Fairy named Zinnia

(new drawing)

Butterfly Fairies can also be Flower Fairies.  Zinnia is one of those types of Fairies.  Zinnia flowers are in the Daisy Family. These flowers in the drawing are Zinnias.  Of course, Butterfly Fairies are friendly with butterflies.  Here we see Zinnia communicating with a butterfly.  Understand that animals do not have human or Fairy intelligence, but most Fairies can communicate with animals.

Fairies have both intelligence and magic... not to mention advanced Fairy Technology.  With that technology, they live quite comfortably and keep hidden from most mortals' view.  However, some Fairies choose to come to the mortal realm and live among us mortals.  They will often marry a mortal and raise a family of children who can then choose which world to spend the majority of their lives... either the mortal realm or the Fairy realm.

Notice that in both of these new drawings the Fairies have on a Balteum Volantes or Flying Belt.  This is a piece of advanced Fairy tech that links with Fairy Magic.  With a flying belt on a Fairy can fly much farther and faster than they can with only their wings.

This drawing was done while I was in recovery yesterday, after my surgery.  My doctor (or a nurse) told me that if I kept asking for pain meds via my IV my oxygen concentration would not go up and I'd have to stay the night in the hospital.  So I asked for a piece of paper and I drew.  This distracted me from the pain in my throat where scar tissue had been cut out.  I did not ask for any more pain meds.  For me, drawing is a drug of choice.  I started this coloring pages blog around the time I gave up pain pills that I had been on for 10 years.  I found that drawing could distract me from the pain in my trachea.  That explains why there are over 1500 coloring pages on this blog.

Groundhog and a Chickadee for Groundhog Day coloring page

Welcome to my free Coloring Pages Blog!

Today is Groundhog Day!

So I drew a groundhog, although I put it in an early fall setting instead of a winter setting.

Groundhog in the Early Fall with a Black-Capped Chickadee

The groundhog is also known as a woodchuck.  It is basically a large ground squirrel.  It is also a large rodent.  (All squirrels are rodents.)  Groundhogs are between 16.5 and 27 inches long.  That is between 42 and 68.5 cm. long.

A groundhog is also called, in different parts of North America, several different names:  groundhog, woodchuck, chuck, wood-shock, ground pig, thick-wood badger, whistle pig, whistler, Canada marmot, monax, moonack, weenusk, red monk, land beaver, and siffleux.  The last one is from Quebec and it is in French.

Here in America the Groundhog Day tradition says that if the groundhog sees his shadow he will be scared and go back into his burrow for another six weeks and we will have another six weeks of winter.  IF he does NOT see his shadow we will have an early spring.

The chickadee is a "Black-Capped Chickadee."  It has a very wide range from Alaska to Pennsylvania. They live primarily in more northern areas, however they do live as far south as Southern Utah and Northern New Mexico.  The black markings on the head make it look like it is wearing a hat.  Hence the name, "Black-Capped Chickadee."  They are only about 5 or so inches long.  That is about 12 cm.

The tree is in the drawing is a small tree.  I decided to draw the animals in the fall instead of the winter.

This drawing will be found, in printable form, by clicking on the button labeled "Animals." or clicking on the button labeled "Bird."  And, of course, it is also found under the "Holidays" button.  You will need to scroll down to find the new drawing.

Damselfly Fairy coloring page

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog!

There are over 1000 free to print coloring pages!

Today's new drawing is a Damselfly Fairy.

Damselfly Fairy

Damselfly Fairies are among the most beautiful of Fairies.  They prefer to stay in their natural diminutive size.  They obviously have an affinity with Damselflies.  Fairies sometimes also are very close to dragonflies.  This Damselfly Fairy is using Metis Oratio to communicate with the nearby Damselfly.  Mentis Oratio is a type of telepathy that Faires can do.  The Fairy is named Alette, which means "small winged one."

Speaking of Fairy wings, you may notice that Alette has three pairs of wings while Damselflies have only two pairs of wings.  But this Damselfly Fairy has similar spots and veins as the Damselflies have.

If you look closely you will see that Alette has a wand tucked into her flying belt.  A flying belt or Volantum Balteum is used for Fairies to fly long distances and at great speed.  You may not know this, but Fairies have advanced technology that in some ways is far beyond mortal science.  In fact, the leaf-like outfit that Alette has on is actually a Fairy material that is very light and can be made to look like tiny leaves.  Like most Fairies that love being among animals, Alette likes to wear either natural plant-based clothing or actual plants woven into clothing.  Also, some active wildlife Divus or Female Fairies prefer wearing outfits that are not dresses nor skirts... hence the two-piece outfit that Alette is wearing.

I suppose that technically Alette is both a Damselfly Fairy and a Wildlife Fairy.  Any Fairy that has a close relationship with wildlife can be called a Wildlife Fairy.  IF you are wondering about how a Damselfly Fairy would WANT to be friends with an insect, realize that the Fairies keep watch and help protect the wildlife they are friendly with.

Now, about Damselflies:  Damselflies are closely related to Dragonflies.  Both insects are in the classification Order of Odonata.  Damselflies have been on Earth way longer than Fairies or even humans.  There are fossils of Damselflies that date back to the early Permian Period, before the dinosaurs evolved.  That is around 390 million years ago.  So Damselflies have been VERY successful on our shared planet.  Damselflies are generally smaller and always thinner than dragonflies.

Many species of Damselflies are sexually dimorphic with the males being much more brightly colored.  (So not all "Damselflies are damsels or females.)  Females lay eggs in water and the worm-like young look a bit like a worm with legs.  Both the adult and larva forms are predatory on other insects.  So the Damselfly larva will eat other insect larvae, like mosquito larva.  Adult Damselflies would eat other adult insects like mosquitos.  So, there is a lot to like about Damselflies . . . . and the Damselfly Faires that protect them.

This drawing is of a Damselfly Fairy and a couple of Damselflies during the summer.  Here in Northern Utah, it is very cold right now and there are NO Damselflies out and about right now.  But we have a lot of dragonflies and Damselflies up around our beautiful mountain lakes.  And there are probably a bunch of Damselfly Fairies and even Dragonfly Fairies up there in the mountains.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, can be found by clicking on the button labeled Fantasy, Myths, and Circus.  Then scroll to the bottom of the list of drawings for this new drawing.  Have fun coloring!

Baby Jesus in the Manger Hay - coloring page

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing is Baby Jesus lying on top of the Manger Hay.

Baby Jesus in the Manger Hay

Have you ever considered that Jesus was born in a stable?  Basically, he was born in a barn.  He did not get born in a palace or a mansion, and yet this was the creator who made our world and the universe.  Have you ever considered what a step down this mortal life was for Him?  He was the Son of God.  He was the Great I Am.  He was Jehovah.  He was the god who divided the Red Sea for Moses and the Children of Israel.  And yet he was born in a stable.  Instead of a soft feather bed, he had a bed in a stable.  His bed was the feeding trough or manger where the animals ate hay.  What does this teach us?

I personally think that Jesus' humble mortal beginnings as sending us a message about the unimportance of worldly possessions and worldly honor.  After all, God has said that...

"...no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him."

NOTE:  This drawing can be found, in printable form, by clicking on the "Religion" button.  Then scroll down to the New Testament drawings.  This Baby Jesus drawing will be at the bottom of the New Testament drawings.  The printable drawing also can be found under the "Holidays" button.  Just hit the Holidays button and then scroll to the bottom of the Christmas section.

Santasaurus

So, I drew a similar drawing for my 2 year old granddaughter today during church.  She looked at it with a very confused expression on her face.  So, I know it's a little odd, but it was fun to do.
I know I am not the first person to say "Santasaurus"... in fact, I got the idea from a great book that comes with a CD.  It is called The Dinosaurs Night Before Christmas.  I think you should color the dinosaur's stripes red or green or a combination of the two Christmas Colors.
