Bat Fairies
.
Bat Fairies are a unique type of Fairy.  They are a type of Night Fairy.  They are known for their rather silent flight and of course, bat-like wings.  These Fairies have somewhat larger ears for the detection of reflecting sonar or sound waves.  So, yes, Bat Fairies have specialized vocal cords, like a bat.  They can therefore fly in pitch-black darkness.  The Bat Fairies make a high pitch sound and they can detect the return sound when the sound waves bounce off of things.

As you can see in his drawing, Bat Fairies often go into caves. They love to explore and discover stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, and column formations in caves.  Some of those formations can be seen in the drawing... along with the formation that is sometimes called "popcorn."

You also might notice that Bat Fairies prefer leaf style of clothing.  This helps conceal their location.  If you do hear a Bat Fairy it will probably sound like wind in the leaves of trees to you.

By the way, Bat Fairies often live in caves, but they like to spruce them up a lot.  These two Bat Faires are near the mouth of a cave so you can see that there is some light coming in on the right.  Another funny thing about Bat Fairies is that they love to dance.  They can and do use their magic and advanced tech to go mortal size and go dancing at our mortal clubs.  Of course, here they are just dancing at the mouth of the cave.  A final minor note is that male Bat Fairies often wear a beard.  Most male Fairies either can't grow a beard or they choose not to.
