This is a free coloring pages blog.
Today's new drawing is a Tree Fairy.
More specifically it is a Box Elder Tree Fairy.
Box Elder Tree Fairies often are friendly with Box Elder Beetles. These insects are also called Box Elder Bugs. Box Elder Trees are a fairly common tree for hosting a Fairy Village. The Faires will live in and under the tree in a hollowed-out area that looks quite like a quaint European village.
I should mention that Fairies normal size or height is around 5 inches tall. That is just under 13 cm. The Box Elder Fairies use their magic to go to an even smaller size when they want to go for a ride on one of their pets. Their pets are Box Elder Bugs. Insects have limited intelligence but Box Elder Fairies CAN communicate with Box Elder Bugs. You could even say that the bugs are friends with the Faires.
Box Elder Fairies often have a unique type of wing. The Box Elder Tree Fairy's wings often LOOK like a leaflet from a Box Elder Tree. If you don't know what a leaflet is, it is a part of the leaf that looks like a leaf.
Let me explain... a compound leaf has several leaflets. Box Elder Trees have compound leaves. So by having green wings that LOOK like the Box Elder tree;s leaflets... the Box Elder Tree Fairy can hide in plain sight. Of course, Fairies have magic to help them hide as well. But with the perfect camouflage, a Box Elder Tree Fairy needs to use little magic to hide from mortal eyes. In fact, the Box Elder Tree Fairies can change their wings to yellow-gold to look like the Box Elder leaflets in the autumn.
NOTE: This drawing, in printable form, can be found by clicking on the button labeled "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus" that is located at the top of the page. Then scroll down because new drawings are at the bottom of the list. I also want to suggest that you look up a photo of a box elder beetle to know how to color the one in the drawing.
