Prophet Nephi prays for his People coloring page

Today's post is about the Prophet Nephi.

The drawing is of Nephi praying for his people.

Prophet Nephi prays for his People

In the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Christ, you read about the Prophet named Nephi.  There are several prophets with that name so to be clear... we are talking about Nephi, son of Nephi, son of Helaman, son of Helaman.

It was around 0 or 1 AD. Nephi was praying because the wicked people planned on killing all the people of God who believed in the prophecy of Samuel The Lamanite.  So Nephi went out into the wilderness and prayed for his people.  It was probably not far into the wilderness.  In fact, it says he went out.  I pictured the prophet Nephi here kneeling by a stream, not far from town.

In my drawing, he has just heard the voice of the Lord.  The Lord told him to "be of good cheer for tonight I come into the world..."  If you look up high on the drawing you see the Star of Bethlehem appearing.  I envisioned the New Star that Samuel the Lamanite predicted being visible even before the sun completely set.  By the way, in the drawing Nephi has just been told that the star would appear... and it has... and so Nephi is smiling.

When the wicked people saw the new star they fell to the earth in astonishment.  In the New World, the Star of Bethlehem was apparently even brighter than it was in the Old World.  It was as light as day where the Nephites and Lamanites lived.

You can read this story in The Book Of Mormon, Another Testament Of Christ in the book of 3 Nephi chapter 1.
