Mushroom Fairies are thus named because they like to sit on mushrooms. This is a French Mushroom Fairy. She lives in the forest in France. She is immune to the poisons found in Amanita muscania. This species is an iconic toadstool, actually. It is red with white spots if you want to color it accurately.
Artist Note: My model is a relative and she IS named Madi. She is a beautiful young woman who actually is part American and part French. This species of mushroom or toadstool really does live in France . . . and in many other parts of the world. It originated in the Northern Hemisphere. It is native to both North America, Northern Asia, and of course Europe. It has been accidentally introduced by Man into the Southern Hemisphere as well. Don't eat it. . . it IS poisonous. I gave Madi of choice of her wing style. She chose the lacewing style of wings. Some lacewing insects DO have the tiny black spots ... one spot on each of their four wings.
Finally, the word for Fairy in French is Fée. I learned that form Madi's mother. She and her husband raised their kids bilingual. That is an awsome thing to do in my opinion. When you know two languages you understand more how language works. Studies have shown that for people who know two languages, the two languages are stored in different parts of their brain.
Another Artist's Note: I just realized that I forgot to post the printable version of the Fairy named Madi. It is now posted. Just go to either the "All Printables" button or the "Fantasy Myths and Circus" button and scroll down. New drawings are always at the bottom of the lists.
