Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.
Today's new drawing is of a Tyrannosaur called Tarbosaurus
vs a duckbill dinosaur called Saurolophus.
Tarbosaurus attacks Saurolophus
The Tarbosaurus was a type of Tyrannosaur from Asia. It lived both before and during the reign of T. rex - but on the other side of the world. Tarbosaurus was up to 39 feet or 11.89 meters long to T. rex's length of 40-42 feet or 12-12.8 meters long. Tarbosaurus had a wider skull and had fewer teeth than T. rex. Tarbosaurus weighed in at up to 11,000 lbs. or 4,990 kg. Whereas Tyrannosaurus rex weighed up to 19,555 lbs. or 8,870 kg.
Tarbosaurus was clearly the top predator in what is now East Asia... including China and Korea. T. rex was the top predator found in what is now Western North America. Namely, USA and Canada.
Tarbosaurus bataar, is the only known species of Tarbosaur. It is now thought by many paleontologists that Tarbosuarus was a type of Tyrannosaur so the Genus name of Tarbosaurus ought to be changed to Tyrannosaurus. That would make the correct name of this Asian dinosaur: Tyrannosaurus baatar.
Saurolophus was a large Hadrosaur or duck-billed dinosaur. It was 32 feet or 9.75 meters long and weighed around 4,200 lbs. or around 1,900 kg.
NOTE: This drawing is found in printable form by clicking on the button labeled "Paleontology" and scrolling down to the bottom of the Mesozoic portion of the list. I will also add an older Tarbosaurus drawing from previous posts.
Tarbosaurus vs Deinocheirus
(Deinocheirus was a type of Therozinosaur.)
