Today's new drawing is of a hypothetical Next-Generation Air Dominance fighter.... also called NGAD.
NGAD Fighter JetThis is a drawing of what I think the Next Generation Air Dominance fighter jet will possibly look like. It is going to be a stealth technology aircraft and it will probably be both fast and maneuverable. In this drawing, it is breaking the sound barrier. Look up photos of jets breaking the sound barrier to color this properly. The NGAD fighter will probably be able to fly at least at MACH 2.5 and probably faster. MACH 3 would be better... maybe. But higher speed almost always means you need a heavier frame so it loses maneuverability. It is already being developed by Lockheed. At least that is one aerospace company working on designing and building a 5th generation fighter.
There is some thoughts out there that maybe this NGAD will not have any verticle tail fins - thus making it even stealthier because it will have an even smaller radar signature. One of the things that helps an aircraft be more stealthy is is to have straight lines instead of circular or curved ones. Curved or circular lines or shapes are excellent for reflecting radar.
