King Benjamin

King Benjamin teaches his people from the Tower

King Benjamin was a righteous king in The Book Of Mormon.  He was elderly and taught his people from a tall tower so more people could hear him.  He abdicated the throne to his son Mosiah.  Then King Benjamin taught his people about the coming Messiah.  He prophesied of the sacrifice and atonement of Jesus Christ and how that atonement makes it possible for us to repent and one day live with God agian.   King Benjamin also taught his people how to serve God.  King Benjamin told them that they serve God by serving their fellow beings.  This was over a hundred years before the birth of Christ.  Here is the quote about service:

I tell ye these things that ye may learn wisdom, that ye may learn that when ye are in the
service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God.  -Mosiah 2:17

You may wonder about my drawing.  As I have done a few other times, I put this Book Of Mormon story in the Mississippi River Valley area.  Or perhaps somewhere near there.  There is a theory that the events of The Book Of Mormon took place in North America and the Mound Builders are decendants of the people in the Book Of Mormon.  In fact, it is possible that some of the earlier Mound Builders or Mississippian peoples were the Nephites and Lamanites written about in The Book Of Mormon.  King Benjamin was a Nephite King.  In this top drawing he is on a wooden tower.   I did no draw in the people.  They are listening form inside their tents or teepes to keep cool or maybe to keep warm.   The Book Of Mormon tells of how the people brought their tents to sit in as they listened to their king.

The clothing I put drew on King Benjamin is similar to clothing and headress worn by an Iroquios Cheif.  IF the events in The Book Of Mormon took place in the Eastern and Midwestern part of North America, then that would mean that the Iroquois tribe would probably be decendants of the Nephites and Lamanites.  I guess I care about this especially or maybe it is cool to me because I am a decendant of an Iroquios woman... several generartions back.

This top drawing in printable form is found by clicking on the top button labeled Religious. . . or the top button labeled . . . . All Printables.   New drawings like this drawing up top are at the bottom of the drop down menu so scroll down to the bottom.   Below is an earlier drawing of King Benjamin that I did a while back.  It will be further up the list of drawings.   The below drawing is set in Mesoamerica.  The style and patterns on King Benjamin's clothing are similar to that of the Mayan People's traditional clothing.  The crown is also similar to a Mayan crown.  Note that it has some similarities to the Iroquois crown.   In the Mesoamerica drawing King  Benjamin is on a tower made of stone.

There are also theories that Mesoamerica is where the events of The Book Of Mormon took place.  By the way, the full title of the book is:  The Book Of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ.  We members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believe that the Holy Bible AND The Book Of Mormon Another Testament Of Jesus Christ are both holy and true books of  scripture.  The latter is a record of God's dealings with His people somewhere in the New World and it was written by prophets.  The first, the Holy Bible, is the dealings of God with His people in the Old World. l l
