Today's coloring page I drew for you is of a 

Birch Tree Fairy. She is with a Peacock Butterfly.

Tree Fairies - Betulia the Birch Tree Fairy

If you are a regular or long-term fan of this blog, then you know that Tree Fairies are Fairies that have an affinity for specific types of trees. This is a Birch Tree Fairy.  She is also a Butterfly Fairy. Her wings are similar to those of a Eurasian Peacock Butterfly. This Fairy is named Betulia. If you saw Betulia, you would probably only see a butterfly. Fairies have powerful magic that hides them from most mortals. Certain mortals are blessed with the opportunity to see Fairies. These mortals are called "Fairykind." Only very special, pure-hearted mortals get to be Fairykind. Maybe you are one of them.

Betulia is named for the genus of birch trees (Betula). The butterfly is a Peacock Butterfly. This type of butterfly is native to Europe and Asia, although it HAS been introduced in North America. Birch trees are very commonly visited by butterflies. Many species of butterflies lay their eggs on birch trees. Many also make their cocoons on birch trees. 

Birch Trees are, as mentioned before, Genus: Betula. There are several species of birch trees. They tend to live mostly in the Northern Hemisphere of North America, Asia, and Europe. These trees have white bark with dark lenticels on the white bark. These marks really contrast with the white bark.

A note for those of you who are coloring this coloring page: The lenticels are only partly colored in. This is on purpose. You are free to use a pencil or black colored pencil to darken and more fully fill in these dark spots on the birch tree bark. Have fun coloring!
