Sorry, I have not posted in a while. Today I am posting several pictures I drew...
starting with these four Bible drawings that I did recently.
This is my free coloring pages blog.
Jesus wading in the Sea of Galilee
Yes, Jesus walked on water. But he most certainly waded and even swam in the Sea of Galilee many times during his life... especially during His ministry that was for much of the time near the Sea of Galilee.
The local religious leaders wanted to catch Jesus in a legal trap. Only the Romans had the right to execute, but the Jewish leaders brought a woman to Jesus. The woman had been caught committing adultery. (This begs the question - "Where was the man who was committing adultery?") The Jewish religious leaders wanted to trick Jesus because the Law of Moses said the woman should be stoned. Jesus squatted down and wrote in the dust. Then He stood and said, basically, "He who has no sin, let him cast the first stone at her." This is worded slightly differently in the different Bible translations.
Then, beginning from the eldest to the youngest, the men all dropped their stones and withdrew with guilty consciences. This is a great solution to the problem. Then Jesus asked the woman where her accusers were. After she said that there were no accusers to condemn her, Jesus told her that He did not condemn her either. He then told her to go her way and sin no more. That is one of my favorite stories of the Bible.
About the drawing: The woman's hair looks to be a mess. That makes perfect sense. She had been in bed with someone who was not her husband and had been drug out of the house. Then she was drug to all the way to the temple by a mob. So she would not have looked her best by any means. It was probably a violation of the Law of Moses for her to be IN the temple since she was an adulteress. This is showing more of the hypocrisy of the religious leaders who claimed to always follow the Law of Moses. This was hypocrisy because they were willing to violate the law in order to try and entrap Jesus. Since only the Romans were allowed to do capital punishment, the Jewish leaders thought that they could trip up Jesus. If Jesus had said to stone the woman, the religious leaders could have said he was violating Roman Law. If Jesus said to release her, then Jesus was violating the Law of Moses. Jesus' solution was very kind and very clever.
Noah sends out a Raven
Noah sent out a dove. But he sent out a raven first. The raven just flew to and fro everywhere and did not return. So Noah sent out a dove. The first time the dove could find no where to roost, and it came back. The second time Noah sent out the dove, the dove returned with an olive branch. (a small one, no doubt) This told Noah that the waters had receded from off the face of the Earth. By the way, can you spot the window where Noah is?
Daughter of Pharaoh rescues Baby Moses
Bithiah was the daughter of Pharaoh. She found baby Moses floating in the makeshift basket boat... floating in the Nile River. She saved him and went on to raise him. So Moses had the best education possible to receive at the time. Bithiah's father had actually ordered the death of all baby Israelite children. But Bithiah saved Moses, and he went on to lead the Children of Israel from bondage.
