Meikelia the Water Nymph rescues a Puppy

This is a free coloring pages blog.

I am a retired science teacher who likes to draw.

There are over 2000 drawings that I have done

that are on this blog for you to print and color.

Today's new drawing is of a Water Nymph.

Meikelia the Water Nymph rescues a Puppy

Water Nymphs sometimes get an undeserved bad name due to the well known legend of evil sirens and how they are depicted in mythology. In reality, Water Nymphs are a type of magical being - closely related to Fairies.  Water Nymphs are mostly friendly, beautiful, light hearted, and kind.  There are only a very few that lure men to water and drown them (the Sirens)..  Like Fairies, Water Nymphs are mostly beings of light and are helpful to mortals.  Some Water Nymphs even have wings.  This is a drawing of Meikelia, a Water Nymph who has just rescued a puppy that fell into the lake.  She is a wingless Water Nymph. Not only is Meikelia very kind but she is also very beautiful.

Water Nymphs tend to wear flowing translucent clothing - when they choose to wear clothing. Of course, some Water Nymphs like to visit the popular mortal beaches.  To do this they will charm up a mortal-style swimming suit and show up at the beach by walking out of the water.  This tends to be freshwater beaches on lakes, however Water Nymphs can tolerate seawater.  But they prefer freshwater bodies of water. In fact freshwater Nymphs are also called Naiads.

After Meikelia gives the puppy back to his mortal people she will use a type of Fairy charm (Olvidalo) to make the mortals forget they saw her.  Of course, sometimes that charm does not work and some motals are left with a beautiful memory of a kind and beautiful Water Nymph encounter.  Even more rare days s a Naiad who wants an ongoing friendship with a mortal or mortals.  Sometimes a whole family will get befriended by one or more Water Nymphs.

Once in a while a Naiad will marry a mortal and choose a mortal life.  This is an interesting relationship because although not immortal, Water Nymphs tend to live for sometimes several hundred years. So, in order to hide their true nature from non-family members the Naiads will perform an ongoing aging charm (Aspicio Major) to make it appear to non family members that they are aging at the same pace as their spouse.  However, with their spouse and family they usually maintain their natural appearance.

Children and descendants of a mortal & Water Nymph marriage love the outdoors and especially love being in bodies of water like lakes, rivers, ponds, & even swimming pools.  In fact, some of the Olympic level swimmers have a Water Nymph in their family genealogy.

These descendants of Water Nymphs who live in the Mortal World will often reconnect with Water Nymph family and friends when visiting a lake or river or pond. These descendants of a Water Nymph & Mortal marriage (who choose to live in the Mortal World) are likely to choose a career related to the outdoors.  (Such as working in a sporting goods store, or working as a forest ranger, biologist, etc.)  Descendants of Sea Nymphs will choose a career involving the ocean such as deep sea fishing, sailor, or even marine biology.

Meikelia works in outdoor recreation. She particularly  loves water sports and is known for her love of animals - especially doggies.  She is also kind, personable & helpful to all the mortals she meets.  Besides being strikingly beautiful (like all Water Nymphs) Meikelia is also very intelligent.  She passes on her enthusiasm for the great outdoors to the mortals she came in contact with.

In mythology Water Nymphs- especially Naiads, are depicted as beautiful, friendly, light hearted & sexy.  The legends & myths failed to note that Water Nymphs are also extremely intelligent.  This makes it easy for a Water Nymph to adapt to mortal life.  Of course that intelligent mind is passed on to the descendants of Water Nymphs.

Having met Meikelia, in a mortal setting, I am not entirely sure if she is a Naiad who chose a mortal life or a descendant that came out of a mortal & Water Nymph marriage.  But her beauty, intelligence, & enthusiasm for life was obvious to my wife and I.

As a final note I want to mention the Potamoi.  They are called River Gods in Mythology, but a Potamoi is actually a male Water Nymph.  These are like the female Nymphs in that they are attractive, kind, and intelligent.
