Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.
For those of you who are citizens of the United States of America...
here are some patriotic coloring pages.
I apologize that none of these are brand new drawings. . .
but some were done over this past year.
Tomorrow I will probably add a new drawing as well.
Star-Spangled Banner inspiration
(Francis Scott Key was an American who was being held on a British Man of War ship during the bombardment of the fort that protected Baltimore... Ft. McHenry. He was so happy to see the U.S. flag in the morning that he was inspired to write the words to what would become our National Anthem.)
Battle of Baltimore, Ft. McHenry
(CASUALTIES: U.S., 28 killed, 250 wounded, 50 captured
British, 46 killed, 300 wounded)
Battle of Brooklyn Escape
(This drawing depicts the evacuation of Gen. Washington's troops after the loss of the battle of Brooklyn. Washingtons and his troops were surrounded but a thunderstorm and subsequent fog allowed him to orchestrated a sneaky escape. Clearly, Divine intervention was involved.)
The next drawings are all military aircraft or ships or land vehicles or my father in his military uniform during WW II.
Lt. Mel Lyman B-24 Bomber Pilot
(The day after Pearl Harbor was bombed my dad and his two best friends volunteered for pilot training in the Army Air Corps. His two friends died in B-17 bombers. Of Dad and his two friend only he lived to marry and raise a family. He told us that he used to say to himself, as he flew over Germany... I should be teaching those kids down there the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not bombing them.)
Lt. Lyman with B-24
(After the war ended Dad went to college and Medical school and became a physician and surgeon. He also was a family doctor in his small hometown. He delivered over 3000 babies over the course of a 40+ year career as a small town doctor. He also saved many lives. (including mine several times)
B-24J Liberator
F-16 Fighter-Bomber
(I think this is one of the prettiest jets ever built!)
F-111 Aardvark Fighter-Bomber
F-22 Raptor Stealth Fighter
F-35 Lightning Fighert-Bomber Jet Aircraft
Destroyer from World War II
