Hanawyn an Elf Mother with Her Son Glenoraborn

Yes, Elves have mothers.  This is one of those beautiful Elf Mothers with her son.  The Elvish mother is named Hanawyn and her son is Glenoraborn.  She has other children as well.  These are Wood Elves so they live in the forest.  Here we see mother and child after the son has been swimming in the river.  He is wrapped in a type of Elvish towel that has the charm to warm him up after swimming in the cool river water.

Hannia Azuria the She-Elf Warrior coloring page

 This is my second post today.  So, of course, this post is at the top of my blog.

The first post is my drawing of Barbaridactylus so it is the post below this one.

This post is a drawing of a Fairy She-Elf Warrior. 

Hannia the She-Elf Warrior

Hannia Azuria is one of the Blue-Elf warriors.  Blue-Elves love being near the water or even IN the water.  More specifically they love lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, etc.  So they love freshwater.  Blue Elves are known to be great swimmers.  They are not merpeople, so they can not breathe water, but they are capable of holding their breath for 20 minutes.  

She-Elf warriors help protect the areas around the Elf cities and villages.  They are powerful warriors, however, they only fight when necessary.  That rule does not apply to how they deal with dark creatures like orcs, trolls, etc. 

Hannia, and most Blue Elves, prefer an Elvish short-sword.  A large sword would get in the way of swimming.  Hannia is seen here near a river.  Her armor is made of mithril so it is quite light, therefore she can go into the water without sinking to the bottom.  Traditional armor makes swimming impossible.  Mithril is a type of silvery metal that is incredibly strong so when made into armor it is very thin - which makes the armor very light.  Mithril does not float, but armor made of mithril is perfectly safe for swimming.  Mithril is closely related to Beryllium, only Mithrill is not brittle. 

Hannia Azuria is seen here standing behind a large boulder that is next to a river.  If you could see her legs you would see that they are armor free.  She also does not carry a shield..  Blue Elves spend so much time in the water that they are known to not wear leg armor the free their legs for swimming.  "

A final note on Hannia Azuria, Hannia means "a place to rest or be happy."  "Azuria" is a stunning Aqua-Blue color.  I am sure you know that Elves are beautiful people, although not mortal.  Blue Elves are particularly beautiful, even for Elves.  I will add that the coloring page format of art can not capture the full physical beauty of such beautiful people.

Mavanariah the Water Dragon Fairy, Kennedia the Healer Fairy, & a Pet Fairy

Mavaraniah the Water Dragon Fairy

Mavahraniah is a kind young Water Dragon /Fairy.  She is only about 6 or 7.  She is caring for a Water Dragon egg.  There is a young Water Dragon coming to visit her on her lily pad.   

Kennedia the Healer Fairy with Puppy

Kennedia is a Healer Fairy that usually serves human mortals.  She cares for the elderly and the ill right in their own homes.  She is one of the Fairy Folk who has chosen to work in the mortal world in order to serve.  Since she is exceptionally kind she also is good with pets like this puppy she is training to be a service dog in an assisted living facility. 

Pet Fairy with Micro Mini Goldendoodle

(This Pet Fairy is named Sophia.)

This is another Fairy who has chosen to live among mortals.  She does this because she loves animals.  She has chosen a mortal life to work in a veterinary office.

Groundhog and a Chickadee for Groundhog Day coloring page

Today is Groundhog Day!

So I drew a groundhog, although I put it in an early fall setting instead of a winter setting.

The groundhog is also known as a woodchuck.  It is basically a large ground squirrel.  It is also a large rodent.  (All squirrels are rodents.)  Groundhogs are between 16.5 and 27 inches long.  That is between 42 and 68.5 cm. long. 

A groundhog is also called, in different parts of North America, several different names:  groundhog, woodchuck, chuck, wood-shock, ground pig, thick-wood badger, whistle pig, whistler, Canada marmot, monax, moonack, weenusk, red monk, land beaver, and siffleux.  The last one is from Quebec and it is in French.   

Here in America the Groundhog Day tradition says that if the groundhog sees his shadow he will be scared and go back into his burrow for another six weeks and we will have another six weeks of winter.  IF he does NOT see his shadow we will have an early spring.  

The chickadee is a "Black-Capped Chickadee."  It has a very wide range from Alaska to Pennsylvania. They live primarily in more northern areas, however they do live as far south as Southern Utah and Northern New Mexico.  The black markings on the head make it look like it is wearing a hat.  Hence the name, "Black-Capped Chickadee."  They are only about 5 or so inches long.  That is about 12 cm.  

The tree is in the drawing is a small tree.  I decided to draw the animals in the fall instead of the winter.

Dilophosaurus & Animals with Similar Features coloring pages

Dilophosaurus was a predatory Theropod dinosaur from the Early Jurassic Period.  It lived in what is now Western North America.  It lived 193 million years ago.  Its full scientific name is Dilophosaurus wetherilli.  It was not a huge predator, but it was not tiny either.  Dilophosaurus was about 23 feet or 7 meters long.  It had a pair of crests on the top of its head.  In spite of the cool frill and spitting of venom in Jurassic Park, there is no evidence that it could spit venom or had a frill.  Some modern reptiles, like Cobras, DO spit venom, and some reptiles have frills, like the Australian Frilled Lizard. . . so it is not impossible for Dilophosaurs to have those traits. 

The top drawing has Dilophosaurus drawn with the frill.  The flying reptile or Pterodaur is a Ramphorinchus.  Pterosaurs in the Early Jurassic Period had long tails.  The next drawing is Dilophosaurus drawn without the frill.  The third drawing today is from an older post.  It has a Dilophosaurus emerging from a forest.  Below are drawings of a Cobra and an Australian Frilled Lizard... the animals that were mentioned as possibly having some similarities with Dilophosaurus.

There are 12 species of cobra and over 200 subspecies.  They live in the Old World in warm parts of Africa and Asia.  They don't just live in semi-arid deserts.  They also live in rain forests. 

Australian Frilled Lizard and Wedge-tailed Eagle

The Australian Frilled Lizard lives primarily in Northern Australia.  They prefer life in tropical savannahs and in woodlands.  They are also found in the jungles of New Guinea.

Tree Fairies - Juniper Fairies coloring pages

Today's new drawing was done and then altered so there are three Juniper Fairies.

Tree Faires - Juniper Fairy with extended wings

This is a type of Tree Fairy.  She is named Juniper.  This is a fitting name because she is a Juniper Tree Fairy or you can just say Juniper Fairy.  She is harvesting the fruit of the Juniper Tree.  She is Fairy size here, although all Fairies can go Mortal size if they choose.  The Juniper berries are a fruit with multiple uses.  Many birds feed on them.  They also have medicinal uses.  They are also high in vitamin C, but eating too many Juniper berries can be toxic.  

There are two drawing here to show that Faires can internalize their wings when they choose to. When a Fairy decides to go to mortal size and mingle with mortals in disguise, she or he will first internalize their wings, transform to mortal size with Fairy magic and technology, and they will then use a concealment charm on their pointed ears to make we mortals think they are mortal shaped ears.  Of course, a Fairy may choose to internalize her wings for any number of reasons besides disguise.  Not getting them scratched by the scale-like leaves of a juniper tree would be a reason to internalize wings.

Notice that Juniper (the Fairy not the tree) is wearing a small flying belt.  That is called Balteum Volantes in the Fairy Latin that they commonly speak.  Fairies wear flying belts to be able to fly further and faster.  All Fairies CAN fly without the flying belt, but the flying belt gives them much more speed and a further range.  

For your information Juniper Faires are often Native American in appearance.  Like many Fairies, they often choose to wear clothing of leaves.  They also sometimes wear attire that looks somewhat like traditional Native American clothing.  So I drew Juniper in that attire as well.  See below.

Junipers are an evergreen and I believe they are a type of conifer.  These trees are found in many parts of the world... mainly in the Northern Hemisphere.  So they are found in North America, Europe,  Asia, and clear down to parts of the tropics like in Africa and Central America.  Juniper leaves are very unique.  They are scale-like, not needles like many other conifers.  The tree in these drawings is a Utah Juniper or Juniperus osteosperma.  Here in Utah, USA, we also have Juniperus scopulorum or Mountain Juniper.  We also have a native Juniper bush called Spreading Juniper... or Juiperus horizonalis.  The seeds of the Utah Juniper are hard and so the species name of osteosperma mean bone-like or hard seed.  The Juniper trees are not commonly planted in our neighborhoods, but the Spreading Juniper is very common as a side of house shrub.  The Junipers I am familiar with here in the Western part of North America are all around 20 feet tall at most.  That is about six meters.

Carcharodontosaurus, Coloborhynchus, and Spinosaurus - - Animals of Mid-Cretaceous North Africa coloring pages

Carcarodontosaurus & Coloborhynchus near a River

Carcorodontosaurus and Coloborhynchus were animals that lived in the Mid-Cretaceous in what is now North Africa.  If you look in the background you will see a Spinosaurus.  They lived at the same time in the same place.  But Charcarodontosaurus was a land predator and Spinosaurus was primarily a water or river predator.  They probably only got in fights over food when there was a draught or something that interfered with the Spinosaur's ability to catch fish.  By the way, the name Carcharodontosaurus means "Shark Tooth."  The paleontologist that named this dinosaur thought its teeth looked a lot like shark teeth. 

The Pterosaur is a Coloborhynchus.  It was a large Pterosaur that ate fish.  It had a wingspan of up to 18 feet or about 5.4 meters.  There was more than one species of this type of large Pterosaur. This Genus was from the Ornithochirus group of Pterosaurs.

Carcharodontosaurus

I think I made the snout too robust and not long enough.

But I DO think the pattern of spots looks pretty cool!)

 They lived much like very large crocodiles.

Spinosaurus was around 55 feet or about 17 meters long,

but it was built for fishing.)

Santasaurus

So, I drew a similar drawing for my 2 year old granddaughter today during church.  She looked at it with a very confused expression on her face.  So, I know it's a little odd, but it was fun to do.
I know I am not the first person to say "Santasaurus"... in fact, I got the idea from a great book that comes with a CD.  It is called The Dinosaurs Night Before Christmas.  I think you should color the dinosaur's stripes red or green or a combination of the two Christmas Colors.
