Today's newest drawing is of the 

Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

Bradley Fighting Vehicle

The Bradley Fighting Vehicle comes in two basic types:  The M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle and the M3 Bradley Reconnaissance Vehicle.  The INFANTRY version carries 6 soldiers along with the three-man crew.  The M3 is used for scouting etc. Both versions have TOW anti-tank missiles along with a primary weapon of a 25 mm chain gun.  It is also called an autocannon. This gun can fire depleted uranium armor-piercing rounds.  

The Bradley also has a 7.62 mm machine gun for defense against infantry or lightly armored vehicles.  The armor-piercing rounds are capable of severely damaging an older-generation tank at close range with a lucky or precise shot to the tank's weaker areas.  I mentioned the TOW anti-tank missiles.  The Bradley Fighting Vehicle actually carries 5 of these excellent tank-killing weapons.  

The commander, the gunner, and the driver compose the three-person crew.  And, the six additional soldiers can be fully equipped.  There are many Bradley Fighting Vehicles that have been built and are still in service. This somewhat lightly armored vehicle is still being manufactured and the US Army is buying hundreds more.  It will one day be replaced.  But for now, it is the US Army's primary fire support and infantry and scouting vehicle.  Although the new Booker sort of light tank will be excellent fire support.

Fona herzogae the Burrowing Dinosaur coloring page

Today's new drawing is of a small burrowing dinosaur.

Fona herzogae the Burrowing Dinosaur

This dinosaur lived in what is now Utah, USA.  It was about the size of a very large dog and it appears that it spent much of its life underground in its burrow.  It had strong back legs that it most certainly used for digging burrows.  It lived around 90 million years ago in the Mid-Cretaceous Period.  Fona herzogae was an herbivore - it ate plants.  In fact, it probably ate the roots of plants. 

If you are wondering why there is grass in this drawing, YES they have found evidence of the first grasses on Earth dating back as far as 100-110 million years ago.  So the grass in this drawing is accurate.  A few years ago it was thought that grass did not appear until the end of the Cretaceous Period or even after the Cretaceous Period ended.  We now have good evidence that grass had been around much longer than previously known.  

To be more specific on size, Fona herzogae was around 3 feet tall and 6 feet long.  That is roughly .9 meters tall and 1.8 meters long.  It had a face-full of feathers that it probably used like moles use their face appendages to feel in the dark while underground.  

The young offspring is drawn small with an oversized head.  There ARE examples of baby dinos with that oversized head "cuteness factor."

Firefly Fairy Children coloring page

Namely Firefly Fairy Children.

Firefly Fairy Children

Mortal children who live where fireflies are common love fireflies.  Fairy children are the same way. This is a drawing of two Fairy children who are hanging out with two of their firefly friends.  I guess the difference between mortal children and Fairy children is that the Fairy children are closer to the size of the fireflies.  

Of course, Fairy children can TALK with the fireflies and mortal children can talk to them but can't understand what the fireflies are saying back.  Many fairies can communicate with many species of animals.  But often a Fairy will choose a particular type of animal to befriend.  In this case it is clear that these Fairy children chose Fireflies.  

The two planets you see in this drawing are Saturn and Jupiter.

Terrible Trenton the Pirate - the poem

Captain Trenton Pirate with His Parrot

TERRIBLE TRENTON

Here we see Terrible Trenton 

A pillaging journey he went on

He’ll remove any gold tooth 

The victims are let loose

Then in a skiff, they are sent on

 

Captain Trenton steals gold teeth and ships

But he’s not cruel one little bit

He’s been in the Navy

The gold teeth are gravy

Pulling gold teeth - he’s really good at it

 

As pirates go Trenton’s rather kind

Before teeth-pulling victims get to dine

He medicates them with rum

So their mouth is all numb

But for their missing gold teeth, they will pine

 

 But at least they don’t have to   walk the plank

For that they really should    Trenton thank

They are still alive

Not in a fatal dive

Their gold teeth Captain Trenton   will bank

 

Captain Trenton thinks he’s so cool 

With his blue parrot, he named Azul

But if you have a tooth of gold

And don’t want it stolen & sold

Alia the Tooth Fairy coloring page

Today's new drawing is of Alia, a Tooth Fairy.

Alia the Tooth Fairy

Alia is the Tooth Fairy.  To be more accurate, she is ONE of the thousands of Tooth Fairies.  These are Fairies that like to use their magic to find teeth under children's pillows.  They leave some kind of treasure, usually some kind of coin.  

Alia, like many Tooth Fairies, actually works in the mortal realm.  They are born into the Fairy realm but have chosen to work in the mortal realm.  They often go on to marry a mortal.  Some of the Tooth Fairies are half mortal and half Fairy.  All Fairies can internalize and hide their wings so that they appear to be a mortal.  

Obviously, these Tooth Fairies are very kind because they seek to help brighten the mornings of children in many parts of the world - where there is a Tooth Fairy tradition.

Woman who touched the Hem of Jesus' Robe coloring page

It is of the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment or robe.

 Woman who Touched the Hem of Jesus' Robe

This is a drawing of Jesus in a crowd.  He was on His way to raise the daughter of Jarius.  

There was a crowd thronging Him yet he felt someone touch him and power come out of Him.

He asked, "Who touched me."

A woman who had an issue of blood for many years was who touched the Savior.  She had been ostracized and spent all her money on trying to be cured.  Vaginal bleeding by Jewish law made her ritually unclean.  She must have suffered terribly over the years.  So since she was considered unclean a fellow Jew was not supposed to touch her.  So she thought that maybe if she just touched the hem of Jesus' robe or garment then she could be healed.  She probably did not want Jesus to be made unclean if he touched her to heal her.  Clearly she had incredible faith!

Jesus waited and she finally admitted that it was her.  Jesus said to her, "Daughter, be of good comfort.  Thy faith hath made thee whole."

I love this story.  My wife and I are big fans of the show about the ministry of Jesus. The show is called "The Chosen."  That show portrays this story very beautifully.  In fact, this is our favorite portrayal of Jesus in any show or movie we have ever seen.  We highly recommend it.

M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank coloring page

Today's new coloring page is a drawing I did of the M-1 Abrams Main Battle Tank.

M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank

This is the main battle tank of the USA.  It is called the M-1 Abrams Main Battle Tank.  It was first put into production and used by the US Army in February of 1980.  It was designed in the 1970s to replace the M-60 Main Battle Tank.  The Abrams was named after Creighton William Abrams who was a general in WW II who commanded armor units.  Armor units mean tanks.  He also was involved in Vietnam and was a the chief of staff of the US Army in 1972.  

The Abrams tank originally weighed 60 tons or 120,000 lbs.  The latest version weighs 71.2 tons.  It has gone through many upgrades and iterations.  But there are 3 main versions.  The M1, the M1A1, and the M1A2.  

The tank can travel at a top speed of 45 miles per hour on a road and 42 miles per hour off-road.  Its main armament is a 120 mm cannon.  It can hit targets accurately while moving.  It can hit targets almost 2 miles away.  

Now, on a secondary note.  This tank is seen on a cliff of red rock.  The dark stains on the rock are not from the tank.  These stains are thought to be caused by magnesium-rich bacteria that color the rocks.

I want to mention that I drew this tank while at my granddaughter's hour-long gymnastics class.  I did not have a straight edge or ruler.  And I drew this kind of fast.  So the circles and "straight lines" are not perfectly round nor perfectly straight. So forgive me if it isn't perfect.  I personally think it is more impressive from a distance.  In fact, you could imagine that you are looking at this tank through heat a heat mirage on a hot summer day.  

Have fun coloring, and you can color it how you like.  But know that I added a desert camouflage pattern that would be colored dark brown, light beige, white, and possibly black.

The Pirate is named Captain Trenton the Terrible.

His parrot is named Azul.

He has an obsession for his victims’ gold teeth

Captain Trenton the Pirate with his Parrot Azul

Captain Trenton the Terrible was a pirate from the Old Spanish Main. 

He was called Trenton the Terrible because he always pulled any gold teeth from his captives. 

What is interesting is that he would get the captive drunk first and then pull the gold tooth or teeth.  

This is kind of odd that they called him "The Terrible" since he allowed his captives to go free after 

getting their possessions.  He even kept extra skiffs aboard his pirate ship so he could set his victims 

free.  Before he became a pirate Captain Trenton was a ship surgeon in the British Navy.  Because of

 being a ship's surgeon, he knew how to pull teeth correctly with the least amount of pain and bleeding. 

 Plus the victim being completely drunk lowered the pain.  

  So, maybe he 

did not deserve the nickname of Trenton the Terrible.  But the nickname served him well because as 

soon as his pirate ship was spotted the merchant vessel would give up.  They knew that if they fought 

then some of them would surely be killed by Captain Trenton's crew's accurate and deadly cannon fire.  

Plus they knew that if they gave up some of them might lose a gold tooth or two but they would be 

set adrift and not have to walk the plank or be keel-hauled behind the ship.  

Azul is a blue and gold Macaw.  Or maybe an all-blue macaw called a Hyacinth Macaw.  Blue and gold

 Macaws are mostly blue with a yellow tummy and some yellow on the side of their head.  These

 species of parrot (macaws ARE parrots) come from South America.

This is a wild Mustang.  She is a mare or female and lives in Western North America.  Her name is Princess.  She live wild and free like the Brumbie of Australia.  A Brumby is the name for a wild horse in Australia.  In North American countries of Canada and the USA wild horses are called Mustangs.  In Mexico a wild horse is called a mesteño.

Today's new drawing is of a bird from Florida called

The Swallow-Tailed Kite.

Swallow-Tailed Kite

Swallow-tailed kites live all over Florida and along the coast of some of the SouthEast states of the United States of America.  They once ranged along the Mississippi River valley as far north as Minnesota, but human logging, etc. have driven them out of those traditional ranges.  It is a type of hawk that flies elegantly.  It prefers to nest high in the trees of forests and forested mountains or swampland.  With its pointed swept-back wings it looks like a fighter jet.  It has an impressive wingspan of 47-54 inches.  

This type of kite feeds on birds, dragonflies, and even reptiles that they pluck from the treetop branches.  They can swoop down and scoop up a drink from open water as they fly. You usually see these birds soaring.  You rarely see them flapping their wings.

Today I am posting three drawings from the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

Nephi son of Lehi on the Ship with the Liahona

This is a picture of Nephi who came to the Americas with his father Lehi and the rest of his immediate and extended family.  Here he is seen with his daughter and he is holding the Liahona or divine source guiding compass.  Nephi was a prophet in his own right and he was very faithful and very brave. He is the ancestor of the other two prophets in this post.  Nephi had to deal with rebellious older brothers who wanted to kill him.  Plus Nephi crossed the Arabian Peninsula and built a ship then crossed the oceans to the Promised Land somewhere in North or South America.

Alma the Younger teaches about Faith

In this drawing we see Alma the Younger teaching about Faith.  His missionary companion is Amulek.  Alma the Younger had once been a rebellious youth.  But he repented and became a great prophet.  Here he is seen with Amulek teaching the poor of the Zoramites about faith. Basically, you see the perspective of the Zoramites - Alma teaching with Amulek at his side.  The characters are drawn I Mound Builder clothing.  Some of the Mound Builders may have been the Nephites and Lamanites of the Book of Mormon.  DNA evidence seems to point that way. 

Faith is compared to a seed that can grow into a tree.  I love this chapter of the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Christ.  It is found in Alma Chapter 32.  I think we can compare faith to a seed but we also can compare our relationship to God to a seed.  And even our relationship with others can be compared to a seed.  When we nurture a relationship the seed of friendship and love grows. 

Alma's son Heleman had a son named Heleman.  Then Heleman II had a son named Nephi.  This Nephi is seen in the below drawing.

Nephi II was the son of Nephi I who was the son of Heleman II who was the son of Heleman I who was the son of Alma II who was the son of Alma I who was converted by the preaching of the great martyred prophet Abinidi.  

When Nephi I the son of Heleman II left his son Nephi II in charge the unbelievers soon concocted a plan to kill all the believers who had faith in Samuel the Lamanite's prophecy concerning the signs of the coming of Christ in the world.  Those signs were a new star and a night that was bright as day.  In this drawing we see Nephi II praying for the believers and getting a response from the Savior.  The Savior Jesus Christ said to Nephi II that that night he, the Savior would be born and the sign of a new star would be seen.  The wicked people with murderous intent were shocked and all repented and the believers were saved. 

I love the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ.  These true stories are so amazing to me.  I sometimes ask myself, "Could any man or team of men in rural New York 196 years ago have written this book?  The answer is clearly no.  The book is as proclaimed, a translated record of some of the former inhabitants of the New World continents or continent.  Where it happened exactly is not known.  Alma and Amulek are drawn as if the Nephites were some of the North American Mound Builders culture.

Annah the Reef Mermaid coloring page

Today's new drawing for you to print and color is of

a Reef Mermaid named Annah.

 Annah the Reef Mermaid

As you would expect, Reef Mermaids care for the coral reefs of the world.  Annah is seen here siding on an underwater rock at a coral reef.  There is a clownfish in a sea anemone.  There are two parrotfish.  There is a shark and also a small lobster.  All animals of the reef respect Merfolk.  Annah is wise enough to understand that many of the marine life on the reef prey on other animals.  She seeks to keep a healthy ecological balance. In fact, one meaning of the name "Annah" is to answer or provide solutions.  That is what Annh and the other Reef Mermaids and Mermen do.  They provide answers to help restore the ecological balance of the reefs of the world.  Unfortunately, global temperature is rising and that is negatively affecting many coral reefs.  

You might notice that she has a small Trident in her right hand.  This is a small Trident but even so, it is very powerful.  In fact it is as powerful as a large Trident such as what King Trident or Poseidon possess.  Most Merfolk carry at least a small Trident.  It is much like the Fairy wand.  

Annah's clothing is made from kelp leaves that have a special charm on them.  This charm strengthens the kelp leaves and keeps them alive and green even though the leaves are detached from the actual kelp organism.  Did you know that kelp is not a plant?  It is actually a plant-like member of Kingdom: Protista.

Marilyssa the Cruise Mermaid coloring page

Today's new coloring page is of another Cruise Mermaid. 

This is the second Cruise Mermaid that I have drawn. 

Marilyssa the Cruising Mermaid

This second drawing I have done of a Cruise Mermaid is of a Mermaid named Marilyssa.  The name means Star of the Sea.  This is a good name for a Mermaid.  She enjoys following cruise ships and interacting with passengers and crew members from time to time.  She has been known to bring pods of whales and dolphins close to the ship for the entertainment of the mortals on board.  

It was another Cruise Mermaid who brought the whales to near our cruise ship on our last Alaskan cruise.  We were on the Quantum of the Seas.  Marilyssa is living in the Caribbean right now.  In fact, the ship she is shadowing is the Royal Caribbean ship called the Rhapsody of the Seas.  The Rhapsody is the first cruise ship my wife and I were on.  We have sailed on her to Alaska and to the Western Caribbean.  She is not the biggest cruise ship but she can get close to the glaciers while the bigger Royal Caribbean ships like the Quantum can not do that.

Lokiceratops a new Ceratopsian from New Mexico coloring page

Today's new drawing is of a newly named horned dinosaur.

Lokiceratops

Lokiceratops was discovered in what is now the state of New Mexico in the USA. It was a Ceratopsian or horned dinosaur with a frill.  This was a fairly large animal at 22 feet or 6.7 meters long.  It had a very decorated frill with many mini-horns but two big ones that looked like the Norse god Loki.  Hence the name Lokiceratops.  Like all Ceratopsians it had a beaked mouth and was a herbivore.

Nephi & Lehi sons of Heleman

Nephi and Lehi, the sons of Heleman II were great missionaries.  They went to the Nephite enemies, the Lamanites and were put in prison.  They were suddenly surrounded by heavenly fire and they were not burned.  They converted the entire Lamanite Nation!

Anniah the Maple Fairy coloring page

Today's new drawing is of a Maple Fairy. 

Anniah the Maple Fairy

The beautiful Maple Fairies are lovers of sweet maple syrup.  They care for the sugar maple trees and help to curtail the predation from squirrels and porcupines especially. Annaiah is seen here in intermediate size.  You may not know this, but all Fairies can change size from their natural five-inch length to mortal size and even a bit larger.  Anniah is shown here at 1/4 mortal size or so. This size helps her deal with the squirrels and porcupines better. 

I guess I should point out that Anniah is a Sugar Maple Fairy.  There are Maple Fairies that prefer sugar maples.  Anniah is one of these.  There are Norway Maple Fairies and Silver Maple Fairies, and Big Tooth Maple Fairies etc.
