Bee Fairy named Latreille and other Insect loving Fairies coloring pages

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog!

Today's new drawing is of a Bee Fairy named after the famous

French Entomologist Latreille.

Bee Fairy named Latreille

There are many Fairies that are specialized.  Bee Fairies are a specialized type of Fairy.  They help and care for bees... especially Honeybees.  Honeybees are responsible for pollinating over 70% of our food.  They are not particularly aggressive either.  The honeybee has been domesticated for almost as long ago than the dog.

Bees were actually domesticated between 10,000 and 8,500 years ago... when humans first started doing agriculture... AKA farming.  The drawing above shows a Bee Fairy named Latreille with a Honeybee.

Bees make wax or beeswax.  They, of course, make honey as well.  Humans have been harvesting honey from wild bees before the bees were domesticated.  Ancient pottery shows that beeswax was present in the pottery.

Recently a problem has killed many bees.  It is called Colony Collapse Disorder.

Pierre Andre' Latreille was a Roman Catholic Priest in France.  He was the premiere entomologist of his day.  He was imprisoned at the start of the French Revolution but was freed when he discovered a new species of beetle in his cell.

This drawing shows Latreille the Bee Fairy with a Honeybee.  Latreille the Bee Fairy was named after this famous French entomologist.

Carolia the Jelly Bean Fairy coloring page

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing is of a unique type of Fairy

 called Jelly Bean Fairy.

Carolia the Jelly Bean Fairy

Jelly Bean Fairies are unique.  They have a partnership with the Easter Bunny.  When you get Jelly Beans on Easter these tasty treats were probably delivered by one of the Jelly Bean Fairies.  Carilia is the name of this Jelly Bean Fairy.  She is seen here surrounded by Jellybeans.  They are not giant Jelly Beans, it's just that Carilia is in her natural diminutive Fairy size.  You might also note that Carolia is a Swallowtail Jelly Bean Fairy.

To deliver the Jelly Beans the Jelly Bean Fairy will use her wand to magically shrink the Jelly Beans.  She (or he) will place the tiny miniaturized Jelly Beans into a small basket or Tiny Pouch.  The Jelly Bean Fairy will then fly to the delivery spots and enlarge the Jelly Beans to their natural size  and hide them for children to find.

NOTE:  This drawing is found, in printable form, by clicking on the button labeled "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus."  Then scroll down to the bottom of the list for this drawing.  By the way, I am having problems with some of my older drawings.  If you can't print them please send a share request and I will send you the link.  Sorry about the inconvenience.  This problem was due to a security update.  I am working of fixing this problem.

Allosaurus on the Prowl coloring pages

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing is of an Allosaurus on the Prowl.

Allosaurus on the Prowl

It appears that Allosaurus was the top predator of the late Jurassic Period.  It could get up to 40 feet long and its arms were large for grabbing prey... as opposed to T. rex arms that were near useless. Allosaurus fossils have been found extensively in Utah and other Western states of the USA.

Allosaurus had large and powerful jaws, although they were not as strong as a T. rex jaw.  But these two animals lived 26 million years apart.  T. rex lived around 62-65 million years ago.  Allosaurus lived 163.9 million years ago up until 89.3 million years ago.  This means that Allosaurs were on the Earth for 74.6 million years ago.  That is a LONG time for a species or even for a Genus to survive on Earth.  So Allosaurus was a very successful animal.

NOTE:  This new drawing can be found, in printable pages, by clicking on the Paleontology button.  Then scroll to the bottom of the Mesozoic section.  Also, there are several other Allosaurus drawings.  However, if you look at my drawings from years ago they are not printable at this time.  I am trying to get that problem fixed.  Below are some other Allosaur drawings... from older posts.

Grass Fairies coloring pages

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog!

The new drawing today is of a Grass Fairy.

Grass Fairy taking Flight
(new drawing)

Grass Fairies are a type of Fairy that like to hang out in the grass.  They stay Fairy size more often than some Fairies.  This Grass Fairy, named Bacchante, is just taking flight.  She is wearing her flying belt to be able to fly further and faster than she can fly with just her wings.

Grass Fairies like to leave the forest and come hang out on well-kept mortal lawns.  You have probably seen several Grass Fairies, but you did not recognize them because they use concealment charms to appear to be a butterfly or some other type of insect.

NOTE:  This drawing was inspired by a statue we saw on the PBS series, Antiques Road Show.  The drawing is available, in printable form, by clicking on the button labeled "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus.  Then scroll down to the bottom of the list because new drawings are found at the bottom of the list. Below are a few other Grass Fairy drawings from Previous Posts.

Parasuarolophus the Large Crested Hadrosaur or Duck-billed Dinosaur coloring pages

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

The new drawing today is of a Hadrosaur or Duckbilled Dinosaur called Parasaurolophus.

Parasaurolophus by a River

Parasaurolophus was one of the larger Duck-billed Dinosaurs.  Duck-billed Dinosaurs are also called Hadrosaurs.   Parasaurolophus had a large hollow crest that had a divider in it.  So sound could travel up one side of the crest and back down the other... like a trombone.  The males had larger crests than the females. So males had a deeper "voice" or honk.

It is thought that Parasaurolophus could communicate with honks or blasts from either their mouth or nose.  There is even one hypothesis that they could, as a herd, make such a blasting noise that it could serve as a defense mechanism against Tyrannosaurs.

The flowers on the bushes are not a mistake.  They are there because fossilized pollen has been found from the era BEFORE dinosaurs.  So flowering plants WERE around during the Mesozoic Era or age of reptiles.  The grass is also not a mistake.  Grass seeds have been found in Hadrosaur coprolite. or fossilized droppings.  There were 5 different kinds of grass seeds so we know that grass had already radiated into different species by the time the Late Cretaceous came along.

Parasaurolophus lived in the Late Cretaceous, but not right to the end.  More precisely Parasaurolophus lived between 76.5 and 73 million years ago.  They lived in what is now North America and possibly even in Asia.  They grew up to 31 feet long or 9.5 meters long.  They weighed up to almost 3 tons.  That would be 6,000 lbs.  or  2,722 kg.  It was probably preyed upon by the early Tyrannosaurs  Albertosaurus and Gorgosaurus.

NOTE:  This new drawing is to be found by clicking on the Paleontology button and then scrolling to the bottom of the Mesozoic section.  Below are some older drawings of Parasaurolophus.  Some of them might not print due to a problem caused by a new security update.  I am trying to get that fixed.  The new drawing will print fine.

Diabloceratops the Devil Dinosaur coloring page

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog!

Today's new drawing is of a Ceratopsian or horned dinosaur

called Diabloceratops.

Diabloceratops feeding on Ferns

Diabloceratops lived about 80 million years ago in what is now Southern Utah.  It was during the Late Cretaceous Period, but not at the very end of the period, that was 65 million years ago.  It was 18 feet long.  That is 5.5 meters.  Diabloceratops means "Devil-horned Face."  This is because it had two long horns on its frill that looked like long devil horns.  Diabloceratops weighed between 1 and 2 tons. This means that Diabloceratops was a medium-sized Ceratopsian dinosaur.

Diabloceratops is one of the oldest Ceratopsian dinosaurs we know of at this point.  It was the first Ceratopsian discovered in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.  Several other interesting or freaky species have been found since.  The Generic or Genus name is Diabloceratops and the species name is eatoni.  This honors a paleontologist named Jeffery Eaton from a Utah university called Weber State University.  He, Eaton, is a friend of the lead author of the paper that introduced this dino to the world.  That man is Jim Kirkland, the State Paleontologist for Utah.

So the full scientific name for this rather freaky dinosaur is Diablosaurus eatoni.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking on the button labeled "Paleontology" and scrolling down to the bottom of the "Mesozoic" part of the list.  I should note that the drawings at the top of the lists are having problems printing due to a new security update.  I am trying to fix this.  If you want to print one of the older drawings then email me and I can grant you individual access.  Sorry about the inconvenience.

2 more Easter Coloring Pages and a Tribute to The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes coloring pages

I drew these two Easter-themed pictures in church today

so I thought I better post them before the holiday is over.

The first is Jesus, as a resurrected being, appearing to some

of His disciples at the Sea of Galilee.

A Resurrected Jesus appears to His Disciples at the Sea of Galilee

In the Holy Bible,in the Gospel of John chapter 21 we read of Jesus appearing to some of His disciples at the Sea of Tiberias.  That is another name for the Sea of Galilee.  Jesus called out to His disciples and told them to cast their net on the right side of the ship and they caught a lot of fish.

Peter, recognizing that it was the Lord, put some clothes on quickly and he jumped into the water and swam to shore.  It was at that time that as they later walked on the beach, that Jesus told Peter to "Feed my sheep" and "Feed my lambs."  Jesus was calling His children on Earth His sheep or/and His Lambs and He wanted to encourage Peter to take care of and minister to Jesus' children on Earth.  Peter did just that as the first mortal leader of Jesus' church on Earth.

By the way, there were actually 7 of His disciples on the boat.

Country Bunny style Female Easter Bunny

The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes

I want to say again that this is a great book and was inspiring to me and my sister when we were growing up.  I read it to my grandkids every Easter time.  It was written around 9 decades ago but its message was before its time and is still valid.  It teaches that your gender and your economic situation can be no roadblock to your success if you are wise, swift, and kind.

NOTE:  These two new drawings are found, in printable form, under the "Holidays" button.  The picture of Jesus will also be in the New Testament section of the "Religious" drawings.  Some of my older drawings are not printing due to a Google Security update so I am working on fixing that problem.

Happy Easter 2022 coloring pages

Welcome to my free coloring pages app.

Happy Easter!

Today's new drawings are both Easter-themed.

Two Angels declare He is Risen

(new drawing)

Although the Holy Bible talks about two male angels being at the tomb after Jesus had resurrected, I thought it might be fun to draw both a male and a female angel.  They are seen here sitting on the huge stone that HAD blocked the entrance to the tomb and they are declaring to Jesus' friends that "He is risen!"

Over 2020 years ago Jesus did indeed rise from the dead.  He is the Son of God and He had died for our sins and because he was resurrected we will all resurrect one day.  Our new body will be perfect and immortal.  Many good people who had lived before Jesus were resurrected right after Him.  In is even possible that the two angels at the tomb were newly resurrected themselves.

Almost all of us have experienced the loss of loved ones. Jesus' promise is that because of Him, we all will get our bodies back in perfect form.  This is a great promise.  In the Book of Mormon Alma teaches us that not one hair of our heads will be lost and that our bodies will be perfect and immortal, never to die again.  What a wonderful promise this is to all of us who have lost loved ones or who are facing possible death from health problems, war, accidents, or natural disasters.  That reference is in the Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Christ is Alma 11: 43-45.  The Holy Bible says that in Adam all die even so in Christ shall all be made alive.  That reference is 1 Corinthians 15.

Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny

(new drawing)

There are many stories about the Easter Bunny.  My favorite is called: The Country Bunny And The Little Gold Shoes.  I have some drawings I did from previous years below.  This new drawing is similar to the bunnies in that book but not quite the same.  And the storyline would be different.  I imagined that maybe there are hundreds or even thousands of Easter Bunnies and that often they are married.  Not all Easter Bunnies would be married but many would be.

Notice that the two Easter Bunnies are holding the Easter Baskets in their left hand.  This is because they like to have their right hand free to hide eggs.   These bunnies can run very fast and they always are nice bunnies, not "full of themselves" or full of vain pride.

NOTE:  These two new drawings, in printable form, can be found by clicking on the "Holidays" button and scrolling down to the Easter section.  The titles of the new drawings are always at the bottom of the correct list.  Below are some older Easter Drawings.  These drawings are also found in the same part of the Holidays list.   Due to a security update, some of my older drawings are not printing.  So send me a request for access and I will respond by giving you access.  I am endeavoring to get this problem fixed.  If you know how to grab an image off this part of the blog then you can find ways to print it... such as pasting it into Microsoft Word.
