Ceratosaurus coloring pages

This is my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing is of the Jurassic Theropod Ceratosaurus.

Ceratosaurus Prowling

This dinosaur is called a Ceratosaurus.  It was a meat-eating Theropod.  It lived in the mid to late Jurassic Period.  It was a medium-sized Theropod.  The first specimen was around 18.7 feet long.  That is 5.69 meters.  It weighed up to 2100 lbs. Another species was up to 23 feet or 7 meters long.  The larger species may have weighed up to 2200 lbs or more.

There may have been three species, but this is controversial. The different-named species might be different stages of growth of the same species.  There is evidence that Ceratosaurus lived in Europe, North Africa, and North America. The first finds were in Colorado and Utah.

There is some evidence that the Ceratosaurus was driven to extinction by the newer predator, the Allosaurus.  Allosaurus was quite a bit larger.  There were three short horns on Ceratosaurus's face.  The name "Ceratosaurs" means "horned lizard."  It had osteoderms down the length of its back and much of its tail.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking on the button labeled "Paleontology."  Then scroll down to the bottom of the Mesozoic section of the drop-down menu.  Then, click on the title of this drawing.  Below are two older drawings of Ceratrosaurs.

Puppy Fairy with Micro Mini Goldendoodle coloring page

This is my second post on this free coloring pages blog.

This post is of

Sariah the Puppy Fairy.

Sariah the Puppy Fairy

This is Sariah the Puppy Fairy.  A Puppy Fairy helps out lost puppies.  These Fairies also often magically internalize their wings and enter the mortal world in disguise.  They also use a cloaking charm to hide their pointed ears OR sometimes a transfiguration charm to transform their pointed ears into mortal-like ears.

Why would some Fairies do this? Because they know that mortals love their doggies.  Of course, the Puppy Fairies also love dogs, not just puppies.  Obviously, Puppy Fairies love canines. In fact, they are known to help out with wolf packs in the wild and even help coyotes and foxes.  In Africa, they are known to help out wild dogs and Jackals.  And of course, Puppy Fairies are often veterinarian assistants or veterinarians when they are in disguise in the mortal world.

By the way, in this drawing, Sariah is rescuing a Mico Mini Goldendoodle half-grown puppy named Dandelion.  Dandelion likes to roam, and so when he gets lost, often, Sariah finds him and brings him to his home... and his mortal family.  Dandy's mortal family really appreciates Sariah.

Versions of Spinosaurus coloring pages

This is my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawings are different versions of Spinosaurus.

 Spinosaurus older view

Spinosaurus newer view

Spinosaurus newest view

Spinosaurus was first discovered in Egypt in 1912.  It was a limited partial skeleton.  It was on display in Germany at a museum.  Unfortunately the museum was across the street from the local NAZI headquarters.  The discoverer of Spinosaurus, Ernst Stromer, tried to get the fossil moved but the museum director was a NAZI and he refuted.  American or British bombers apparently targeted the NAZI headquarters and destroyed the museum so the fossil of Spinosaurus was lost.

A new fossil of Spinosaurus was discovered in Morocco in 2008.  Analysis indicated that Spinosaurus probably lived a semi-aquatic lifestyle.  Its back legs were not as long as presupposed.  In a way, it was much like a crocodilian.  It even had croc-like pressure sensors on its snout for detecting prey fish underwater.  The more complete fossil showed a more accurate depiction of the sail.

More tail fossils and or reexamination of tail fossils show that Spinosaurs had a long, flat tail that would have been perfect for swimming.  Even so, some paleontologists still hold to the view that Spinosaurs were primarily terrestrial predators.  But I suspect that most paleontologists hold the view that Spinosaurs were semi-aquatic or even primarily aquatic.  So, like a crocodile or alligator, it had to lay its eggs on land.  But it lived much of the time in water or very close to water - like a crocodile, alligator, or caiman.

Sometimes, we hold to the idea of a prehistoric animal we WANT to have.  But when more data appears, we need to be willing to alter our view.  I loved the depiction of Spinosaurs aegypticus as seen in Jurassic Park III.  But the newest evidence say that Spinosaurus had much shorter back legs.  Spinosaurus lived in the Cretaceous Period 30 million years BEFORE T. rex.  Plus, Spinosaurus was in North Africa.  Tyrannosaurus rex lived in North America.

Admittedly, there WERE some other big Theropod dinosaurs in North Africa in the time of the Spinosaurs.  These were the huge dinosaurs called Carcharodontosaurus.  But if Spinosaurs was mostly an aquatic predator - hunting or fishing in rivers - then it would not have been competing with Carcharodontosaurus.

By the way, there were other Spinosaurs like Baryonyx and Suchomimus.  They were smaller and did have proportionally longer back legs like most of the other Theropods.

NOTE:  These drawings are found in printable form by clicking on the button labeled "Paleontology."  Then scroll down to the bottom of the Mesozoic Life section.  Then, click on the correct title to get the drawing you want to print and color.  Have fun!

Raquel la Hada de las Flores

Este es mi blog de páginas para colorear gratis. El nuevo dibujo de hoy es de un Hada de las Flores llamada Raquel.

Raquel the Flower Fairy

Today's new drawing is of a Flower Fairy named Raquel.

Raquel the Flower Fairy

Raquel is a Flower Fairy.  She uses a magical charm to expand the space in side a tulip.  Although it would normally be too small for her, with her magical charm she expands the inside of the tulip into a comfortable home for her. She loves all flowers but obviously, she especially loves tulips. She could actually be called a Tulip Fairy.  Like most Fairies, Raquel is beautiful both on the outside and on the inside.  True beauty is inside beauty.

Portrait of Jesus

This is my free coloring pages blog.

I have done over 3000 drawings and posted them here.

Today's new drawing is a portrait of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Portrait of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was and IS our personal Savior.  You see, when we sin there is an eternal law that says we have to be punished for the sin.  But Jesus volunteered in our pre-mortal life to be the Saviour of all Mankind.  So if we repent, His atonement pays that price and we can again return to live with our Heavenly Parents.  We lived with our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother for eons before we came to Earth and received our mortal bodies.

In the pre-mortal or pre-Earth life, we were spirits. Jesus was our eldest brother there.  He led us in the war in heaven against Satan or Lucifer and his angels.  Because of their rebellion Satan and the 1/3 of our spirit brothers and sisters were sent down to Earth without bodies.  They did not have to go through the veil of forgetfulness that we passed through.  So they remember the pre-mortal life.  WE have a veil of forgetfulness so we can be fairly tested here on Earth.  When we sin, and we all do, our Savior Jesus Christ's atonement makes it possible for us to repent.  Then we should strive to do better.  Jesus, our elder brother, must have had and a great love for us to go through what he went through for us.  He still has that love for us.  He is hoping we will repent and turn to Him and try to do better in the future.

NOTE:  This drawing in printable form is found by clicking on the "People and Portraits" button.  Then scroll down to the bottom of the list.  IF you are accessing this page in mid to late March, 2025 then the title will be found at the bottom of the list.  Have fun coloring this portrait of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. By the way, this drawing is also found under the button labeled "Religious."  It is found as the last drawing in the "General Religious" section of that page.

This is my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing is of a cute puppy!

Blue the Hava-Goldendoodle Puppy

Blue is a cute puppy.  His mommy is a Havanese, and his daddy is a Micro Mini Goldendoodle.  Blue is sooooo cute.  He is affectionate and loving,  This type of designer doggy is hypoallergenic and lots of fun.  They tend to be intelligent and trainable.  Our Micro Mini Goldendoodle was the sire of Blue.  By the way, this dog could also be called a "Havapoo" which is kind of funny.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking on the button labeled "Animals."  Then, if you are accessing this blog in March of 2025, this drawing's title will be at or near the bottom of the list so just scroll down.  Have fun coloring this cutest of puppies!

(Alicia the Sea Lion Mermaid)

Alicia the Sea Lion Mermaid

This is another drawing on my free coloring pages blog.

This is my third post today.

The first two posts were of Alicia the Whale Mermaid.

But Alicia also loves Sea Lions - hence this modified drawing of her with a sea lion.

Alicia the Sea Lion Mermaid

Sea lions are earred seals. But they are also Sea Lions, not regular seals.  A  sea lion is much larger than a seal. Sea lions have an ear flap on each year.  Sea lions can walk on their four flippers when on land.  Male sea lions are much larger than females.  There are six species of sea lions.  A male California sea lion can weigh up to 850 pounds.  A female California sea lion weighs up to only 250 pounds.

The sea lion with Alicia is a California sea lion.  They live all along the west coast of North America. Their range is from Northern British Columbia in Canada to Baja California in Mexico.  They feed mostly on fish, squid, and octopus.

By the way, in Spanish, these animals can be called either "sea lions" or "leones marinos," or they can be called "sea wolves" or "lobos marinos."

Abandoned commercial fishing gear is a hazard for all species of sea lions.  They can get tangled up in the old fishing lines or nets and drown.  Remember that sea lions are mammals and need to breathe air.  They don't have gills like fish, so sea lions have to come to the surface for air.

Sea lions hang out on coastal rocks and sand.  The beachmaster is the head male who has a harem of females during the breeding season.  They will defend their portion of the beach.  We saw this with Galapagos sea lions.

Alicia the Sea Lion Mermaid absolutely loves sea lions, and they love her too.  She knows so much about them.  In this drawing, we see a male California Sea Lion coming to greet Alicia while Alicia is sitting on a coastal rock.

NOTE:  To print this drawing, click on the button labeled "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus," or click on the button labeled "Animals."  Then scroll down to the drawing's title.  This drawing will be at or near the bottom of the lists of drawings. Have fun coloring!

Alicia the Gray Whale Mermaid

This is my free coloring pages blog.

There are over 3000 of my drawings that I have drawn for you to print and color.

Today's new drawing is of a beautiful and kind Whale Mermaid.

 Alicia the Gray Whale Mermaid

Alicia is a Gray Whale Mermaid.  This means that she has great relationships with Gray Whales.  There are some Gray Whales that are friendly - even with humans.  I know because I petted one several times last week.  In fact, that is why I have not posted on this blog for a couple of weeks.

Like all Mermaids or Merpeople, Alicia can transform into mortal form.  I suspect that some of our guides in our whale watching adventure were Merpeople.  Merpeople are almost always very physically attractive and what's more, most of them are beautiful on the inside as well.  That would describe Alicia.  She is also highly intelligent.  Word has it that she is also a friend of the Sea Lions.

Gray Whales are amazing creatures.  The females are larger.  They can be up to 49 feet long.  That is about 15 meters long.  The big female Gray Whales can weigh up to 90,000 pounds or have a mass of 41,000 kilograms.  At birth, the calf of a Gray Whale mother weighs between 1500 and 2000 pounds.  The calves are 14-16 feet long at birth.  So, in the metric system, a Gray Whale calf has a mass of around 975 kilograms.  And the calves at birth are around 15 meters long.

Mermaid of Baja California with Belted Kingfisher and Frigate Birds

This is my free coloring pages blog.

There are over 3000 drawings that I have done for you to print and color.

Today, I drew a Mermaid just off the Baja California coast.

She is with a Belted Kingfisher and there are Great Frigate Birds in the background.

Mermaid of Baja California with Belted Kingfisher and Frigate Birds

Baja California has some amazing marine life.  That includes Mermaids - if they decide to allow you to see them.  These Mermaids are friendly with the seabirds.  This Mermaid is named Sirenia.  She is actually a very small Mermaid.  Sometimes, Merpeople are very small.  Serenia is around four feet tall or four feet long from head to tip of tail.  She is both kind and beautiful.  Kindness is a big part of true beauty.

Sirenia is sitting on a granite rock just off the coast.  She is visiting with one of her friends, a Kingfisher named Rey.  A frigate bird named Barquito is coming in for a visit as well.

Kingfishers have dagger-like bills that they use to spear fish.  Kingfishers on the Baja are Belted Kingfishers.  They fish in the ocean by hovering over an area and suddenly diving down.  Belted Kingfishers are around 14 inches long with a wingspan of 23 inches.

Great Frigate Birds are large seabirds that can be up to 3 feet 9 inches or 114 centimeters long.  Their wingspan is enormous at up to 8 feet or 2.44 meters wide. When flying high, a Frigate Birds resembles the ancient Pterosaurs.

Gray Whale Mother and Calf or Grey Whale Mother and Calf

You have found my free coloring pages blog!

Today's new printable coloring page that I drew is of

a mother gray whale.

Gray Whale Mother and Calf

Gray Whales are a medium-sized whale.  Females can get up to 49 feet long. That is about 15 meters long.  Females are a bit larger than males.  A large female can weigh up to 60,000 lbs.  That is a mass of 27,215.5 kg.  That is pretty dang big!  Gray Whales (that's the spelling in the USA) are unique in that they tend to feed on the bottom of the ocean.  This primary food off the ocean floor is amphipods.  But they also eat some other ocean seafood such as mollusks, tube worms, and some fish like herring.

When feeding the Grey Whale will roll onto its side and scrape its open mouth across the bottom of the ocean.  They can find an incredible amount of amphipods in the Bering Sea and in the Antarctic.  Gray Whales feed only in the summer and then live off their fat stores in the mating and breeding season.  So a mother Gray Whale is making rich milk for her nursing calf by accessing her fat stores.

Mother whales nurse by basically squirting milk into the ocean.  The calf can gulp up the floating globules of milk because the milk does not dissolve in the seawater because the milk is very high in fat.  So again, the milk floats in tasty globules for the whale calf to gulp down.

The closer birds in the drawing are Frigate Birds.  They have a wingspan of up to 9 feet or just under 3 meters wide.  I have seen these birds in the wild.  They look a lot like Pterosaurs.  But of course, they are not related to Pterosaurs.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking on the "Animals" button.  Then, if you are accessing this site in February or March of 2025 then you will find this title at the bottom of the list of animal drawings.  Have fun coloring!  Oh, I forgot... since there are Frigate Birds in the drawing I will also post it under the "Birds" button.

Waco Reese Randall coloring page

This is my free coloring pages blog.

Today I am posting a drawing of my cousin who recently passed away.

 Waco Reese Randall

This is a drawing of my cousin Reese.  That is what I knew him by.  He was a soldier for many years in the Utah Army National Guard.  He was an engineer and when deployed he helped remove mines and bombs.  He was deployed twice. He was a true American Hero.  Reese or Waco also worked in recruiting near the end of his military career.  He obtained the rank of Sergeant First Class before his retirement. He passed away from natural causes.  He left a legacy of love for his family.  He will be truly missed. This drawing is from his active Utah Army National Guard duty days.

NOTE:  This drawing can be found by clicking on the "People and Portraits" button.  Then scroll down to the bottom of the list.  Click on this title and you will get a printable page. By the way, I may add a helicopter or some kind of army vehicle and re-post this drawing under "Vehicles and Military Vehicles."

Chantelle the Mushroom Fairy coloring page

This is my free coloring page site. OK, its a blog.

There are over 3000 free-to-print coloring pages here.

I drew all of the pictures except for a few done by a grandniece and grandnephew.

Chantelle the Mushroom Fairy

Here we see Chantelle.  She is a Mushroom Fairy and she is out gathering mushrooms.  She is at full mortal size because that makes getting the mushrooms easier.  All Fairies can transform to mortal size.  Their natural state is about 5 inches or 12.7 cm.

Fairy chefs from all over the world are expert at cooking mushroom dishes.  Mushrooms are often eaten with spaghetti and on pizza. (From Italy)    I love 'em that way!  I love 'em in beef stroganoff.  Did you know that beef stroganoff, from Russia, is very similar to beef frickasee from France?  But beef stroganoff includes some Russian ingredients including sour cream and onions.  There are mushroom dishes from all over the world including Haiti, China, Poland, Bavaria, etc. etc.

Mushrooms are high in several nutrients including potassium, selenium, and B vitamins.  There is a danger in gathering wild mushrooms though.  Some wild fungi can be deadly poisonous.  So don't go eating the toadstools off your lawn or you may find yourself in the Spirit World rather quickly.

NOTE:  This drawing is available for free in printable form.  Just click on the "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus" button and scroll down to the bottom of the list.  The drawing will be at that point in the list if you are accessing this near February or March 2025. Have fun coloring!

Alexiah the Unicorn Fairy coloring page

This is my free coloring pages blog with over 3000 drawings that I have done for you

to print and color.  A very few drawings were done by a grandniece and grandnephew.

Today the new drawing is of Alexiah the Unicorn Fairy.

Alexiah the Unicorn Fairy

Alexiah is a Unicorn Fairy. She obviously loves Unicorns.  Just so you know, Unicorns are sentient beings like humans, Fairies, Elves, and Unicorns.  So a Fairy riding a Unicorn is not mastering the Unicorn. The Fairy has to be FRIENDS with the Unicorn for that to happen.  In fact, Alexiah is best friends with this Unicorn.

To be fair to Alexiah, she is a very beautiful Fairy in great part because she loves all animals.  Beauty is far more than appearance. She, of course, adores Unicorns and the mortal hornless unicorns we all refer to as horses.  But you would be surprised to know that among wild horses like Mustangs in North America and Brumbies in Australia... there are often leaders of the herds who are incognito Unicorns. They have enchantments to hide their horn from most mortals.  Of course, Fairies can see the Unicorns for who they really are.  Even some mortals can.

Another interesting fact is that both Fairies and Unicorns are telepathic and that includes telepathic with each other.  It is not that rare for a Unicorn and Fairy to be BEST friends!  As I said before, that is the case with Alexiah and her Unicorn friend who is named Martiah.  They are best friends.  But if most of you saw Alexiah riding on Martiah you would probably see a beautiful rider on a horse and not have any idea that you were looking at a Fairy on a Unicorn.  Fairies also have enchantments to hide their wings from us mortals... or hide their wings from MOST of us mere mortals.

By the way, to help you understand the perspective of this drawing, Alexiah is leaning forward as she is riding.  She still looking ahead but she is about to say something to her friend Martiah.  Also, notice the happy cloud and a couple of happy bushes?  AND the bushes each are of a different species.  Can you tell why?

NOTE: This drawing is a coloring page that can be found in printable form by clicking on the button labeled Fantasy, Myths, and Circus.  Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for this title. Then click on the title to get the printable version of the coloring page.

Angel helping Handcart Pioneer coloring page

You have found my free coloring page blog with thousands of my drawings for you to print and color.

Today's new drawing is of a handcart pioneer receiving help from an angel.

Angel helps Handcart Pioneer

During the 1850s there were a lot of converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  There were a lot from England and Scandinavia. They could not afford teams of oxen and wagons. So, many handcart pioneers came across the Great Plains of North America successfully with it being a challenge but not usually a disaster.  The Martin and Willy Handcart Companies were a different story.  They left late and got caught in early winter storms in Wyoming.

Brigham Young ordered a rescue that saved many of them, including my ancestor Lucy Ward.  She married her rescuer James Cole. You may be surprised to learn that those pioneers stayed true to the faith.  One man said that there were times he looked behind him to see who was pushing his handcart.  So, although he did not see any angels, clearly angels were there helping these faithful people make it to Zion.

Of course, some died and they all suffered.  My ancestor Lucy Ward lost all of her toes but went on to have many children and a long faithful life.  Her rescuer had seen her in a dream as he was on the trail to get to the stranded handcart companies.

This drawing depicts the scene of an angel helping a pioneer push his handcart.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking on the Religious button and scrolling down to the bottom of the Restoration section.  This will work if you are accessing this page on or around February 2025.

T. rex with varying levels of Feathers coloring pages

This is my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawings are of T. rex.

These are drawings of T. rex with different amounts of feathers.

There are three drawings and it will take a few minutes to post them all.

Featherless T. rex and Chick

Originally no one thought any Tyrannosaur had feathers.  That may have been incorrect.

Lightly Feathered T. rex with Full-Feathered Chick

Some paleontologists think that juvenile Tyrannosaurs had feathers to keep warm but when adults lost all or most of their feathers.  When young keeping warm is important.  However adult large animals in warm climates have a challenge to keep cool.  So, in this drawing the adult has only limited token feathers.  The juvenile has a full set of proto-feathers or feathers to keep warm.

Fully Feathered T. rex and Chick

A paleontologist at the University of Utah told me that one day we would find evidence that T. rex had feathers.  So we could imply that all Tyrannosaurs had feathers.  This would include Albertosaurus, Daspletosaurus, etc.  Yutyrannus is a Tyrannosaur from what is now China.  It DID have full feathers.  But all of these drawings are of Tyrannosaurus rex

NOTE:  These drawings, in printable form, are found by clicking on the button labeled Paleontology.  Then just scroll down to the bottom of the Mesozoic Life section.  Have fun coloring!

Mormon Abridging the Book of Mormon coloring page

This is my free coloring pages site.

There are over 3000 drawings that I have drawn for you to print and color.

Today's new drawing is of Mormon.

Mormon was a general, and he was a father.

But he also was a scholar who abridged many written records of

his people the Nephites.  That record is now named after him:

The Book of Mormon - Another Witness for Christ

Mormon Abridging the Book of Mormon

Mormon was a great prophet.  He lived near the end of his people's era.  They had become so wicked that the Lord would no longer help them protect them against their enemies the Lamanites.  Seeing that the end was coming, General Mormon made a concise history of his people.  This was an abridgment of 1000 years of history of the Nephites.  The original Nephites came over to the Americas around 600 BC and were wiped out around 400 AD.

The abridgment was engraved on golden plates that were held together by three rings or long loops.  There were other records that were used to make the abridgment including plates made of brass.  In fact, the Plates of Brass are mentioned and quoted in the Book of Mormon.  The Plates of Brass contain lots of the Old Testament... up until the time Lehi left Jerusalem.  Lehi was the patriarch of the family that would one day become the Nephites and Lamanites and he brought his family to the Americas.  Where exactly we do not know.  I have heard that the Toltecs or Maya could be part of the Nephite and Lamanite civilizations.  But recently there has been some evidence that perhaps the Mound Builders in the Mississippi Valley area and other parts of Eastern North America may have been the Nephites and Lamanites.  The rock wall in the drawing is based on Moundbiulder ruins from North America. So is Mornom's clothing in the drawing. Obviously, not every Native American is a full descendant of Lehi because there were people in North and South America before Lehi ever showed up.

I should add that Moroni, Mormon's son, also abridged a bit more after his father was killed by the Lamanites.  He, Moroni abridged the record of the Jaradites who came to the Americas around 2200 BC.

Mormon's abridgment was published in the 1800s by the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr.  He, Joseph, was given the golden plates to translate by the gift and power of God.  Joseph received the plates from Mormon's son, Moroni.  That book is now known as The Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Christ

Mormon was a remarkable person.  He probably was from the ruling class because he was made a commanding general at only 15 years old.  He led his people for many decades before their destruction. He and his family lived in a society surrounded by wickedness. Yet Mormon and his son Moroni did not falter from the commandments of God.  They even tried to preach repentance to the people... but the Nephites would not listen.

In making the abridgment Mormon often mentions that "a hundredth part I have not written."  Meaning that he wrote less than 1/100 of the records he had access to.  Even so, the Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Christ has remarkable stories and teachings in it.  It tells of the Savior Jesus Christ visiting the Americas AKA the New World after his death and resurrection in Jerusalem  AKA the Old World.  Jesus also says that he had other people He was going to visit.

So if you want to know more contact the missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  And read the Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Christ.

NOTE:  This drawing is found in printable form by clicking on the button labeled:  "Religious."  Then scroll down to the bottom of the Restoration of the Gospel section.  Click on the title of this drawing and you'll have your coloring page of Mormon at his desk doing the abridgment.

USS Iowa coloring page

This is my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing is unique because it was drawn in church

by both myself and my 7-year-old grandson.

It is a rather simple drawing of the battleship the

USS Iowa.

USS Iowa

This is a simplified drawing of the USS Iowa United States battleship.  The ship in the drawing was done rather quickly by myself at church at the request of my 7-year-old grandson.  It is not in great detail and it is not precisely accurate.  But it DOES look somewhat like the Iowa battleship.  My grandson drew the ocean. I drew the animals and the bubbles under the sea.

The USS Iowa was a large battleship of the World War II era.  It was a 45,000-ton ship that was commissioned in 1943.  It has a main battery of 9 16-inch guns.  The main guns had a range of over 22 nautical miles.  The Iowa had a secondary battery of 20 5-inch guns.  These smaller guns had a range of 12 nautical miles.

The Iowa now is a museum ship in the Los Angeles Harbor.

The animals below the ship are a sperm whale and a shark.  An adult sperm whale is around 52 feet long and weighs up to 90,000 lbs.  The largest sperm whale ever documented was 79 feet long! Sperm whales can dive to a depth of 10,000 feet or 3058 meters.  In comparison, a regular navy submarine can only dive to around 800 feet.  Sperm whales usually dive less than 2000 feet but it is amazing that they CAN go to 10,000 feet.  That depth would crush most subs into goo.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking on the button labeled Vehicles and Military Vehicles.  Then, if you are accessing this site in early 2025 you will find the title of this drawing at the bottom of the drop-down menu or list of drawings.  I will probably draw this ship again in more accurate detail.

Columbian Mammoth, Wooly Mammoth, and Steppe Mammoth coloring pages

This is my free coloring pages blog.

There are over 3000 free-to-print coloring pages.

There are several categories you can access by clicking on the buttons above.

Today's new drawings are of there of the best-known type of mammoths.

Columbian Mammoth in a Valley

The Columbian Mammoth was enormous.  It was 30% larger than the more well-known Woolly Mammoth. The majority of found Columbian Mammoths weighed up to 22,000 lbs and stood 14 feet tall at the shoulder.  That put them at probably about 15 feet tall at the top of their head... maybe more.  Columbian Mammoths were also up to 15 feet long.  Of course, that would be longer if you counted the trunk and small tail.  Columbian Mammoths lived in mountains, mountain valleys, grasslands, and riparian (riverside) areas.

I want to add that a Columbian Mammoth was found in Nebraska that was 15.5 feet tall and is estimated to have weighed 15 tons or 30,000 lbs!  The Columbian Mammoth had a little bit of hair but not the thick woolly coat that Woolly Mammoths had.

Woolly Mammoth at the Ecotone

Woolly Mammoths lived on the low Arctic Tundra.  They sometimes visited the ecotone where their habitat or ecosystem met another ecosystem like the grasslands.  It is possible that they migrated here in the winter months to feed on grasses.  Here they encountered the larger Columbian Mammoth IF we are talking about Woolly Mammoths of North America.  So if you are wondering why there are trees in this picture it is because the Woolly Mammoth is not on the tundra.  It is in the grasslands.

DNA studies have found that the two species interbred.  For years paleontologists and biologists were wondering about mid-sized mammoths.  Now we can surmise that these were cross-breeds of these two species.  OR were they the same species?  After all, if two animals can breed and produce fertile offspring then that is the DEFINITION of a species!

By the way, Woolly Mammoths were about 11 feet tall.  They weighed up to 18,000 lbs.  This made them as heavy as a Tyrannosaurus rex. But the biggest Woolly Mammoths were still 4000 lbs less heavy than the Columbian Mammoths.

NOTE:  This pair of drawings can be found by clicking on the Paleontolgy button.  Below is a Steppe Mammoth picture and a Woolly Mammoth drawing from previous posts.

Steppe Mammoth the Biggest Mammoth

It is thought that both the Woolly Mammoth and Columbian Mammoth may have descended from the even larger Steppe Mammoth. AND... since the Woolly Mammoth and Columbian Mammoth could interbreed then they were probably the same species... just different subspecies.

Blue-Footed Boobies Mother and Chick coloring page

Here you have found my free coloring pages blog.

There are found here over 3000 printable coloring pages.

Today's new drawing is of a mother blue-footed booby and her chick.

Blue-Footed Boobies Mother and Chick

The Blue-Footed Booby is a unique seabird.  It has a mating dance that looks comical.  It has blue feet.  It lives mostly in the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador.  It also dives at high speed to get to fish.  It can swim underwater as well.  We have seen them diving and it is remarkable!  They are 33 inches or 81 cm long.  They weigh around 3.25 lbs or 1.5 kg of mass.  Chicks are white and fuzzy.  There are usually three eggs in a clutch and often all three chicks survive unless there are predators like Short-Eared Owls.

This drawing also has other seabirds in the distance including the fork-tailed frigate bird.

Arelia the Night Fairy coloring page

This is my free coloring pages blog.

There are over 3000 free-to-print coloring pages.

Today's new drawing is of a Night Fairy named Arelia.

Arelia the Night Fairy

Arelia is a beautiful and kind Fairy.  She prefers to be out at night.  Here she is near a river and getting a visit from a moth.  Arelia likes rivers and moths so she could be called a Moth Fairy or a Night River Fairy.  She is seen here in a bit more than her natural 5-inch height.  She can go to any size up to mortal size if she wishes. In this drawing, Arelia is around 12 inches tall.  She is using a charm to create a light at the end of her wand.  Although moth language is much more basic than Fairy or human speech, Arelia can speak with the moth and understand her as well.  In this drawing, Arelia is flying above the river.  Her clothing is made of natural plant material and she has a Fairy pendant. By the way, Arali or Aralia can mean Oleander flower.  That is a lovely flowered bush native to warm dry desert climates.

NOTE:  This drawing is found in printable form by clicking on the button labeled "Fantasy, Myths and Circus."  Then scroll down to the bottom of the list of drawing titles.  If you are accessing this page in January or February 2025 then the title of this drawing will be near the bottom of the list. Acrocanthosaurus and Sauroposeidon by a River dinosaurs coloring page

This is my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing or coloring page for you to print is

Acrocanthosaurus - the largest Theropod of the Early Cretaceous Period.

Acrocanthosaurus and Sauroposeidon by a River

This is Acrocanthosaurus... in the foreground.  It was a very large Theropod that lived in what is now North America.  It lived all over the continent.  It lived in the early Cretaceous Period.  It grew to up to 38 feet or 11.5 meters long and weighed possibly up to 7.3 tons or 6.6 metric tonnes.  That made it smaller than Tyrannosaurus rex.  Of course, T. rex lived at the END of the Cretaceous Period so the two predators never would have met.   Acrocanthosaurus had spines on its vertebrae that gave it what is thought to have been a muscular sort of sail.

The other side of the river shows Sauroposeidon.  It was the tallest dinosaur.  It was around 60 feet or 18 meters tall. It was a type of Sauropod or long-necked herbivore.  It was also a type of Brachiosaur.  These two dinosaurs DID live at the same time in the same part of the world.  Sauroposeidon lived in what was once a delta of a river that went into what is now the Gulf of Mexico.  That is why the drawing shows the dinosaurs by a river.  It is estimated that Sauroposeidon was up to 112 feet or 34 meters long and weighed up to 66 tons or 60 metric tonnes.  So it was a very big animal!   It was probably the largest Sauropod in North America for its time.

The pterosaurs in the sky are Radiodactylus.  Although, in the distance, there is at least one other species of early Cretaceous Period pterosaur.

NOTE:  This drawing is found in printable form by clicking on the button labeled "Paleontology."  Then scroll down to the bottom or near the bottom of the "Mesozoic" section.  This will work if you are accessing this site in late January to early February 2025.  If you are accessing it later then the drawing's title will be further up the list.

Animal Fairies coloring pages

This is my free coloring pages blog.

Today I am posting several drawings or coloring pages that I have drawn.

These are all drawings of Fairies who are friendly with specific types of animals.

 Bioluminescent Fairy with Click-Beetle

Click Beetles are a type of beetle that has parts that glow like a firefly.  Bioluminescent Fairies are friendly with glowing animals.  They include fireflies, click beetles, and glow worms.  This Fairy, whose name is Lucia, is on a stump with a click beetle.  By the way, Lucia can actually glow, but she also can do it, as seen here when she makes a glowing light with her wand to attract the click-beetle.

Desert Night Fairy with Kangaroo Rat

Since it is so hot in the desert of the Southwest United States, being nocturnal or active at night is an advantage.  Kangaroo Rats are small rodents that can hop around 3 feet a jump and get all the water they need from the seeds they eat.  Dania, the Desert Fairy is out at night so she can be called a Desert Night Fairy.

As you can see, Dania is at her natural size of around 5 inches tall.  Like all Fairies, she can transform to mortal size but here she is in her natural state.  By the way, Dania is friendly with several species of desert rodents, like voles, deer mice, etc.

Boy River Fairy with Praying Mantis

This young boy River Fairy likes insects, especially praying mantes.  The praying mantis prey, but their name is "PRAYing" mantis because they look like they are praying.  One of the weirdest things in Nature is the praying mantis mating.  The female eats the male, starting at his head, when they are mating.

Mountain Fairy with American Pika

Mountain Fairies like high altitudes.  The thin air and cold do not really bother them.  This Mountian Fairy loves Pikas.  Pikas are high-altitude tailless rodents.  So, obviously, Altius, the name of this Fairy, is in her natural state or Fairy size of around 5 or so inches tall.  This drawing depicts her and her freind-pika in the summer.  But it's probably the early summer because there is still snow on the higher distant mountain peaks.

Dragon Fairy with Enchanted Knife

Dragon Fairies are powerful, even though Drakia here looks very unassuming.  She has with her an enchanted knife that acts like a wand.  Dragons often respect a knife or sword - even though a wand is just as powerful as an enchanted knife. The rather grumpy dragon is discovering that she can not harm the Fairy.  Drakia (the Fairy) has cast a protective charm that the dragon fire cannot penetrate.  Drakia is not even worried, in fact, she is amused.

Drakia will soon have the dragon under control and send it back out into the wild.  It was preying on human livestock and a danger to the mortal kingdom's citizens.  Dragon Fairies often helped mortal communities with dragons.  They still do, but most dragons nowadays are more docile and prefer life in the wild away from mortals.  So, this scene is from many centuries ago.

Night Mushroom Fairy with Fireflies and Moth

This is a reworked drawing.  But it is of a Mushroom Fairy who is also a Night Fairy.  She is seen here with a moth and a pair of fireflies.  She uses her wand to attract the bioluminescence insects.  She is in her natural size or state of about 5 inches tall or so.  The Fairy is named Lunia.

I will be posting more of these Animal Fairy drawings over the next couple of hours and maybe even more tomorrow.

Magyarosaurus the Smallest Sauropod dinosaur coloring page

You have come upon my free coloring pages blog.

Today the first new drawing is of a small Sauropod.

Magyarosaurus the Smallest Sauropod

Most Sauropods were gigantic.  But Magyarosaurus was small in comparison.  Magyarosaurus was isolated on a small island in what is now Romania.  This can lead to dwarfism.  It was only about 6 feet tall and 20 feet long.  It weighed between 1600 lbs and possibly up to 2200 lbs.  It was a herbivore, like its bigger relatives on the mainland.  So a Magyarosaurus was about the size of a Black Angus Bull.  Of course with the long tail and extended neck, the dinosaur would have been longer... but there are bulls of some breeds of cattle that are nearly twice as heavy as Magyarosaurus.

This dinosaur lived in the Cretaceous Period of the Mesozoic Era. It is thought to have fed on underwater moss.  What is interesting is that early depictions of the large Sauropods had them feeding on water plants.  Now we know that those behemoths were land animals that lived more like elephants.  It is possible that Magyarosaurus lived more like a hippopotamus.

The Pterosaur is a Pteranodon.  It must be a young female (or maybe a young male) because the full-sized females had a wingspan of 12 feet.  The full-size male Pteranodons had a wingspan of up to 25 feet.

NOTE:  This drawing is found in printable form by clicking on the button labeled "Paleontology."  Then scroll down to the bottom of the Mesozoic section of the drop-down menu.  Have fun coloring!

Two Healer Fairies coloring pages

This is my free coloring pages blog.

There are over 3000 free coloring pages for you to print and color...

or for kids to color.  Have fun!

Today's two new drawings are of Healer Fairies.

Addia the Healer Fairy gathering Watercress

This is Addia a kind and beautiful Healer Fairy.  The Fairies know of many medicinal and nutritional uses of watercress so she is out gathering some.  She prepares it for soups, salads, smoothies, sandwiches, and even as a garnish.

Addia also knows the medicinal properties of watercress which are lowering blood pressure, lowering glucose levels.  Watercress has also been used to treat coughing and bronchitis.  Fairy Healers know that watercress is loaded with antioxidants and therefore they use it to treat conditions like arthritis.  Although Faires rarely get degenerative diseases like arthritis, they often change into mortal form and in disguise work as healers, herbologists, nurses, doctors, etc. in the mortal world.

Fairies can change size up to and even surpass mortal size.  Their natural height is around 5 inches or so.  This is what they do to be in disguise among us mortals.  They also can magically internalize their wings so they truly LOOK mortal - albiet very beautiful or handsome mortal.  But they are still a Fairy.  And yes, there are Male Fairies.

I need to add that Addia is in mortal size to gather watercress.  She is wading in the stream.  She can fly from site to site where the watercress is growing thick and there she will harvest SOME of it.  She is careful to not overharvest so that the plant can stay alive and continue to produce.

Watercress is found in many parts of the world.  It usually grows in shallow streams but it has been to also grow in deeper waters.  Some people put it in their backyard ponds for it to oxygenate the water for fish.

Talinee the Healer Fairy in a Willow Tree

This Fairy is named Talinee.  She is also a Healer Fairy who is also beautiful yet kind and caring.  True beauty is on the inside.  AND healers - in the mortal world or in the Fairy Realm tend to be kind, caring, and very intelligent.

Fairies are rather closely related to Elves so Talinee has an Elven symbol on her tunic.  It is the letter "T" for Talinee - written in Elvish.

Talinee knows that willow trees are a source of some medicines.  Aspirin has a common ingredient, salacin, that is found in willow bark. The salicin in willow bark turns into salicylic acid in the body... and THAT is the main therapeutic ingredient in aspirin,  So Fairies know that they can use willow bark to treat pain, fever, thin blood, etc.  Blood thinning - not bloodletting - is helpful to prevent strokes or heart attacks.

NOTE:  This pair of drawings, in printable form, are found by clicking on the button labeled Fantasy, Myths, and Circus.  Then, if you are accessing this page in the first months of 2025 these will be near the end or bottom of the list of drawings... so scroll down.  Have fun coloring!!!
