Tonight is New Years Eve, right now in America.  Although I know it has been New Years for many hours in some other countries!   May we have a good year and may we work on attaining peace on Earth.

Spinosaurus ageyptiacus & Other Spinosaurs

Spinosaurus after a Sawfish

Spinosaurus aegyptiacus is the most well known Spinosaur.  But there are a few others as well.  I am posting drawings of three of them.   All appear to have fed primarily on fish.  They had jaws that were far weaker than Tyrannosaur jaws.  In fact, I disagree with the scene in Jurassic Park III.  I think that if a T. rex fought a Spinosaurus, and if they locked jaws, the T. rex would have ripped the Spinosaur's jaw off.   This is because Spinosaurs had a jaw with muscles for caching fish.  Their jaws were far weaker than a bone crushing Tyrannosaur's jaws.  Even so, Spinosaurus was truly the biggest known Theropod or meat eating dinosaur.  Spinosaurus was the biggest at a length between 55 and 60 feet.  That is around 17-18 meters long.   I guess one big advantage that Spinosaurus would have over a T. rex is that Spinosaurus had a pair of huge arms with a large claw on the inside finger.  Some paleontologists have the thought that that huge claw was used to fillet fish.  Spinosuarus caught and ate huge sawfish.  They also ate big lungfish, Coelacanths (a large ancient fish) and river sharks.  Spinosaurus lived in a river delta system.    Some of the fish that lived in the river delta system were over 20 feet or 7 meters long.  At least the sawfish could get that big.  Ceolocants were around 6 or 7 feet or 2 meters or so long.    It appears that all Spinosaurs lived in fertile river systems.  The Spinosaurs probably only ate land animals when the fishing was bad.   Spinosaurus lived on the opposite side of the early Atlantic Ocean and millions of years before T. rex evolved in North America.  Spinosaurus lived 112-93.5 million years ago.

Suchomimus was an earlier Spinosaur.  It lived south of where Spinosaurus was found in Morroco and Egypt.  Suchomimus had a sail, but it was a much shorter sail.  Suchomimus may have been an ancestor to Spinosaurus.  Suchomimus lived 125-112 million years ago.  In any case, it appears that Spinosaurus may have replaced Suchomimus in the river delta ecosystem.  Notice that Suchomimus had that large claw like Spinosaurus.

At 33 feet or 10 meters, Baryonyx was even smaller. . . although 33 feet long was NOT small.  Baryonyx means "heavy claw". . . . so like all the later Spinosaurs,  Baryonyx had the large index finger fish filleting claw.  In fact, Baryonyx had it first.  It lived 130 to 125 million years ago.  This drawing is of an adolescent or juvennile by a river. 

Now look at the end of the snout of each of these dinosaurs.  They all had motion sensors, like crocodilians have... to sense motion in the water.  This would allow them to fish or hunt in murky river water.  Also notice that their nostrils are up high on the snout.  This gave them the ability to stand on the bank, if they wished, and stick their snout in the water to sense and then catch fish.

(This is actually the most accurate drawing of Spinosaurus aegyptiacus.  It has shorter back legs.  A new fossilized skeleton was discovered a few years ago in Morocco and it showed shorter legs than most Theropods.  It appears that Spinosaurs lived much like a modern crocodile or alligator etc.)

If you have  been wondering why I have not posted in a few days it is because we were getting ready for our daughter's marriage.  She married Jim on Friday.   I drew them here as Lord of the Rings Elves.  .  . at their Elven wedding.  

Capturing Ana's true beauty is impossible with a pencil.   Of course true beauty is in your heart, not just your empidermis. . .  Both Ana and Jim are beautiful people  on the outside and inside.  I gave the couple some advice that I will share with you.   That advice is:

The closer you each are to your Heavenly Father, the closer you will be to each other.   OR    

The closer you are to God the better every aspect of your marriage will be.

Nativity 2019

Nativity 2019

Today we celebrate the birth of our Savior.  Jesus came to Earth and taught us to have faith and to keep His commandments.  He also taught us to be kind to each other and to serve our 

fellowmen.  Jesus founded a church with Apostles and Prophets.   But the most important thing He did is he suffered and died for us.  He paid the eternal price for our sins so that with repentance we can return to live with our Heavenly Parents one day.  

Jesus us our older brother.  We lived with our Heavenly Parents in a pre-mortal life for who knows how long before we finally came to Earth to be tested and to recieve a body.   Because Jesus resurrected we can all one day look forward to getting back our bodies.   Our resurrected bodies will not have disease or defects either.  We all will be resurrected.  If we have kept the commandmemts, had faith in Jesus Christ, and served our fellowman, then we get to return with glorified bodies.  

We members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints believe that saving ordinances are neccesary to reach our full potential.  Those ordinances are baptism, laying of of hands to recieve the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and of course Temple ordinances.  These include an endowment where we make certain covenants with God.  .   . and we beleive that a man and woman can be sealed for time and all eternity in the Temple  Their children can also be sealed to them.  The family truly is forever.  

The first drawing at the top of the page was done Christmas Eve of this year. The second drawing, down below this writing, was done a few years ago. I think I am getting better. I am so grateful to still be here on Earth for another Christmas with my family! I am also grateful to Jesus Christ for coming to Earth and being sacrificed for my sins so that one day I can return to live with my Earthly family and our Savior and our Heavenly Family.

Have you ever considered that Jesus, the God of the Universe, was born in a barn? He created our planet and probably millions more like it. And he came to Earth to recieve his body, not in a palace but in a very humble place surrouned by animals. It is mind boggling if you think about it

Bird Fairies

Bird Fairies are so named because they have feathered wings.  Most mortals would see them as a hummingbird.  Bird Fairies are friendly with all animals, but they are especially friendly with smaller animals, like rabbits, rodents, and of course birds.  Bird Fairies, like all Fairies, wear flying belts to increase their speed and range in flying.  However, Bird Fairies have stronger wings than Fairies with butterfly-like or insect-like wings.  So a Bird Fairy can already fly quite a ways with no need of an antigravity belt.  Even so, most Bird Fairies are more likely to go out and about with their flying belt.  

Bird Fairies are often seen around fruit trees.  That is one of their similarities to birds.   Fruit Fairies like eating fruit.  They also help pollinate the fruit flowers in the spring, so the few fruit farmers that know about Fruit Fairies are not annoyed and the fruit Fairies haveing an occasional cherry or apple or pear, or plum etc.   

NOTE:  All of these Bird Fairies are juveniles.   That is, they are all little girl Fairies, not adults.  INn fact, they are all sistiers.  Also, these are pencil drawings that I chose to not outline in ink.  Because of this the copy is not quite as clear as inked copies.  For printable versions go to "Printables" . . . . or . . . . Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Coloring Page

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is an iconic figure of Christmas.  He was invented almost 80 years ago by Robert May.  He worked for Montgomery Wards, a department store and catalog company.  Rudolph was the title character in a book that was sold or given away at Christmastime by Montgomery Ward stores or catalog stores.  Johnny Marks wrote a great song about the story.  The 1964 Rudolph the Red Nosed Reideer stop motion animated story is really well done too.  The Montgomery Ward Company gave Robert May the rights to his story.   That was very generous of them.  

A couple of things to share about reindeer.  They, reindeer, are domesticated caribou.  Caribou make the longest migration journey of any mammal on Earth.  Even though the females or does are depicted in the TV show as not having antlers, caribou or reindeer are the only species of deer where both sexes have a set of antlers.   

Its funny, but if Ruloph, and the other male reideer were pulling a sleigh in Decemper, they would not have anters.  Male reindeer lose or shed their anlers in November or so.  Female reindeer DO keep their anlers in December.  So if you see Santa and his reindeer, and the reindeer have anlters, then the reindeer are all female.  Of course Santa has powerful magic that allows him to travel at 99% of the speed of light.  So if he has that much magical power, I suppose he could use that magic to have his male reindeer keep their anlers until after Christmas.   

By the way, Vixen is clearly a female reindeer,  (since Vixen means female fox).Dancer and Prancer are female too.   I am adding to this post a drawing I did a while back of Vixen, the Female Reindeer.  The above drawing of Rudolph is done in my style but it was influenced by the wonderful stop motion dolls used in the TV show.   The elf is my own version of an elf.   You can see Santa's castle in the background.

Corina the Singing Fairy

Corina the Music Fairy

Corina is a Music Fairy.  In particular she is a Singing Music Fairy.  She is seen here in her natural diminutive size.  She is a bit of a rebel and is not wearing her flying belt.  She prefers to go out during the day and sing in Nature.  She is kneeling on some low growing tiny ground plants.  She is somewhat concealed by the grass.  

Now if WE heard her we would probably not see her.  Her magic would make us just see a pretty butterfly.  Since most people don't know about nor believe in the Fairy Folk we are pretty easy to fool.  

If you are wondering about the bee.  This IS a honey bee, not a wasp. . . Anyway, if you are wondering about the honey bee there IS a reason I drew one in the drawing.  Queen Bees sing to their worker or servant bees.  A gifted vocalist like a Singing Music Fairy can mimic that song and attract honey bees.  You may be surprised to know that Music Fairies like to be helpful to us mortals.  They will hide in our gardens and sing to attract pollinators like this honey bee.   

I want to mention, like I often do. . . It is impossible for me to capture the true beauty of a lovely Fairy with these tools of pencil and ink.  This is especially hard when there is a real life model like in this case.  And this model has an amazing voice.   I would need to spend far more time than the hour this drawing took me to complete the above drawing to capture her true beauty.  Actually, she is a good and kind person and that has a lot more to do with true beuaty than physical appearences.  The model for this drawing is a beautiful young adult woman who is studying vocal performance in college right now.   This wonderful young woman ran into my wife and I recently.   She was one of our 7th grade Science students a few years ago. 

You will notice, probably, that the above drawing is not inked in.  I know that you may prefer drawings inked in and I usually do. . . . but this looked pretty good in pencil so I did not want to mess it up.  Also, I am taking an Understanding Einstein Class right now, and helping with the prep for my daughter's wedding this month. . . so I've been kind of busy.

Down below are a couple of my detailed drawings done in the past at my Art Class at Artist Corner in Orem, Utah.  They are an Elvin Princess named Arwen, from the Lord Of The Rings movie.  The model for the first detailed drawing I am posting today is the beautiful actress Liv Tyler....and the other drawing is of a Forest Fairy named Laurentia.   The Arwen drawing is done with multilple pencils of different hardness and some airbrush.  The Laurentia drawing is done with pastel colored chalk.

Dragons

Medusa Dragon

Medusa Dragons are Dragons with horns that look somewhat like snakes.  In other words, their horns are not straight.  I understand that there are also some Medusa Dragons with snake-like horns that actually have snake heads on the ends.  I will draw that after I get a chance to see it.   

Signal Dragon

Signal Dragons are Dragons who are tamed by Elves or Fairies to work as signal makers.  They learn to signal with blasts of fire.  Morse Code was based on their signal method.  This Signal Dragon is working for Fairies.  Now don't assume that the Dragon is working under duress.  Not all dragons are bad and those tamed by Elves and Fairies are actually quite friendly.  Note the lack of smoke.  The Signal Dragons try to do short blasts of fire with minimal smoke.  This allows the signal to be seen from other mountains or down in the valleys.  

Fire Dragon

A Fire Dragon is a Dragon that is particularly fond of fire.  Most of them now days are under Fairy and Elf control,  however, some are known to be fire starters.  They don't attack urban areas, but out in the mountains or deep forest some of the fires that are attributed to lightning are actually caused by Fire Dragons.   Dragons that like burning things tend to get smoke stains on their wing, hense the darker coloring on the Fire Dragon's wings in the drawing.  I would NOT want to be in that forest that this Fire Dragon is thinking about torching.   IF you want, you could color this drawing with the woods already on fire.   

A quick note on how Dragons fly.   .   .  If you wondered how Dragons fly the answer is simple.  Hydrogen and Methane gas.  The Dragons have bodies that are large hydrogen balloons.  Hydrogen is the lightest element.  Methane is a molecule made up of only one carbon and four hydrogen atoms.  So methane has an atomic weight of just 16.  Hydrogen has an atomic weight of only one a.m.u. or Atomic Mass Units.  Both these gasses are way less dense than air which is just over 28 a.m.u.   So, along with hollow bones like birds and dinosaurs, the gas makes a dragon less dense than air.  

One more thing, a dragon that overeats is at risk of not being able to fly.   

They also have the ability to spit fire because they have an ignighter in their mouth.  This ignighter is actually their teeth.  They click their teeth together as they exhale methane or hydrogen gas.  This ignights the gas and poof... FIRE!  We call them Fire Breathing Dragons, but they don't actually inhale fire.  They blow flamable gas out and ignight it.  If a Dragon messes up and breathes the flame inside he or she is in almost as much trouble as most animals would be. Dragons only have partial protection from accidentally breathing in the fire.  That protection is particularly dense mucus.  I know, that is kind of gross but there it is.

Of course Unicorns and Fairies are almost always friendly with each other.   Both are creatures of light.  Or more correctly they are beings of light.  Both are sentient beings. and both seek to do good in the world.  You have probably seen a Fairy, but though it was a butterfly.  You have probably seen a unicorn but you thought you were looking at a wild horse, like a brumby in Australia or a mustang in North America.  

Fairies usually live at Fairy size, which is about 5 inches or 13 centimeters tall.  But Fairies don't always stay that size.  They can transform to mortal size. . . the size of us humans.  They can also use magic to shrink Unicorns to Fairy size, so the Unicorns can stay in an underground Fairy village.  

Some unicorns live in wild mustang or brumby herds.  They have a form of magic that conceals their horn from most mortal eyes.

I met River on Thanksgiving Day.  He is a nice old dog.  I don't know a lot about him and I started the drawing late at night so I can't bug the family until tomorrow morning.  He's a big dog with the kind of personality you want in your pet.  As you can see, River has a river of hair.

Минулого квітня ми відвідали національний парк Конгарі в штаті Південна Кароліна, США. У нас є кілька чудових членів сім’ї, які живуть недалеко від парку. Це невідомо, але глибоко в парку є поселення Ельфів. Це не крихітні ельфи. Подумайте Ельфи Володаря Кілець. J.R.R. Толкейн правильно писав про Ельфів. Зараз це потайні люди. Вони прекрасні і часто мають латинські назви. Ця Діва Ельфа названа Clarus. Це ім’я, яке означає яскраве і чітке.



Clarus має цікаву назву, враховуючи, що це ім’я означає світле та чітке, і вона живе в досить темному болотистому лісі. Але вам доведеться ДИВАТИ Національний парк Congaree, щоб знати, як це красиво. У нього є кілька найвищих дерев Східної Північної Америки, деякі з яких досягають понад 160 футів, або майже 50 метрів у висоту. Тут також існує багато різних видів дерев.

Ви можете помітити тварин. Є білохвостий олень, лисиця та олень. Удалині летить кілька птахів. Чи можете ви помітити тварин. Поскольку в последнее время многие из вас в России и Украине посещают мой блог, я перевел этот блог на русский и украинский языки

В апреле прошлого года мы посетили Национальный парк Конгари в штате Южная Каролина, США.  У нас есть несколько замечательных членов семьи, которые живут рядом с парком.  Это не очень хорошо известно, но в глубине парка есть поселение эльфов.  Это не крошечные эльфы.  Подумайте О Властелине Колец Эльфов.  Дж. Р. Р. где проживали Толкиен, к. был правильным в письменной форме об эльфах.  Теперь это скрытные люди.  Они красивы и часто имеют латинские названия.  Эту эльфийку зовут Кларус.  Это имя, которое означает яркий и ясный.

Last April we visited Congaree National Park in the state of South Carolina, USA.  We have some wonderful family members that live close to the park.  It is not well known, but there is an Elf settlement deep in the park.  These are not tiny elves.  Think Lord Of The Rings Elves.  J.R.R. Tolkein was correct in writng about the Elves.  These are secretive people now.  They are beautiful and often have Latin names.  This Elf  Maiden is named Clarus.  It is a name that means bright and clear.   

Clarus has an interesting name considering that the name means bright and clear and she lives in a rather dark swampy forest.  But you have to SEE Congaree National Park to know how beautiful it is.  It has some of the tallest trees in Eastern North America, with some reaching over 160 feet, or almost 50 meters tall.  There are many different species of trees there as well.  

The things sticking out of the water are rotting tree stumps from fallen or burned trees. The forest is also a swmap.  There are many species of animals living there too.  This is a great place visit when we did, in the spring, before the mosquitos come out.  

You may wonder about the Fairy drawing.  It is done differently in that I usally draw detialed drawings in pencil and then ink over the pencil.  I chose to only use pencil on this drawing.  The Fairy, Clarus, is shadowed on one side because it is sunrise.  She has been out all night.  Some Elves choose to be nocturnal or active at night.  This makes it easier to avoid us mortals.  

About the name Clarus.  It is the original Latin name, but it is Clarice in German, Clarisa in Spanish, Portuguese, and Itallian.  It is Clarissa in English, but it has also been altered into Clare and Clarisse.  Of course Clarice is also an English name.  

You might notice the animals.  There is a White-tailed Deer, a Fox, and a Deermouse.   There are a few birds flying in the distance.  Can you spot the animals.  There are also reptiles, including alligators in the Congaree National Park, but I did not draw any in this picture.  The alligators have trouble nesting there because of the frequent floods.  But there are lots of snakes.  There are also many species of mammals and amphibians.

NOTE:  IF you wonder about why Clarus is kind of dirty, well, she lives in a swamp.  She's been out all night.  You'd be dirty too.   IF you wonder about her outfit.  Well, it is pretty warm in Congarre National Park in the summer.  A few years ago it was 104 degrees Farenheit. That is 40 degrees Celcius.  So I drew Clarus with a light outfit.  Now, to find the printable version of the drawing you need to click on one of two buttons up top. . . . L'Annonciation de Marie était l'événement enregistré dans la Bible où l'Ange Gabriel est apparu à Marie et a annoncé qu'elle porterait le Fils de Dieu. Mary, une jeune femme très courageuse et digne, a compris que le fait qu'elle soit vierge rendait cela pratiquement impossible. L'ange Gabriel lui a dit qu'avec Dieu, rien n'est impossible.

Marie était si humble et acceptait la volonté de Dieu. Elle a dit: "Voici la servante du Seigneur; qu'il me soit fait selon ta parole."

Quelle merveilleuse jeune femme Mary a dû être. Et son fiancé, Joseph, était également incroyable. Quand Joseph a découvert que Mary était enceinte, il allait rompre la vie privée. Mais on lui a dit dans un rêve ce qui se passait. Il a donc épousé sa mariée mais a attendu de consommer leur mariage jusqu'à la naissance de Jésus. Certaines religions pensent que Marie et Joseph n'ont jamais consommé leur mariage. Les références dans la Bible King James (la Bible que nous utilisons) à propos de James le frère du Seigneur indiquent que Joseph et Marie ont effectivement eu des enfants ensemble. . . ou au moins ils ont eu un enfant ensemble.

L'Annonciation est célébrée le 25 mars par plusieurs églises chrétiennes. C'est autour de l'équinoxe vernal de l'hémisphère Nord. C'est exactement 9 mois avant Noël.

Si vous voulez un mal de tête, recherchez la date de naissance de Jésus. C'est très débattu. Certaines preuves existent qui ont mis la naissance de Jésus au printemps plutôt qu'en hiver. Cela ferait l'Annonciation en juin ou juillet. Mais pour nous, membres de l'Église de Jésus-Christ des Saints des Derniers Jours, le jour exact de l'année de la naissance de Jésus, notre Sauveur, n'est pas vague. Nous croyons qu'il est né le 6 avril. Pourtant, cela ne nous dérange pas de célébrer sa naissance le 25 décembre.

Célébrer le 25 décembre nous convient. La saison de Noël est un moment merveilleux et si nous faisons bien Noël, nous nous souvenons que Jésus est la raison de la saison. C'est une période de l'année pour penser au don et à la bénédiction de notre Sauveur venant sur Terre pour nous sauver de nos péchés, aux conditions de notre foi et de notre repentir. Ensuite, son atomisation paie le prix de nos péchés et nous pouvons un jour retourner vivre avec Dieu.

Nous croyons qu'avant de venir sur Terre, nous vivions avec nos parents célestes dans une vie prémortelle. Jésus était là et il s'est porté volontaire pour être le Sauveur de nous tous. Jésus est notre frère spirituel aîné. Il nous aimait tellement qu'il s'est porté volontaire pour souffrir à Gethsémani et sur la croix pour payer le prix de nos péchés afin que nous puissions vivre à nouveau avec lui et nos parents célestes un jour.

Anunciação de Maria

A Anunciação de Maria foi o evento registrado na Bíblia em que o anjo Gabriel apareceu a Maria e anunciou que ela levaria o Filho de Deus. Mary, uma mulher jovem e valiosa, muito corajosa, entendeu que ser virgem tornava isso basicamente impossível. O anjo Gabriel disse a ela que com Deus nada é impossível.

Maria era tão humilde e aceita a vontade de Deus. Ela disse: "Eis a serva do Senhor; seja comigo segundo a tua palavra".

Que incrível jovem Mary deve ter sido. E o noivo dela, Joseph, também foi incrível. Quando Joseph descobriu que Maria estava grávida, ele ia privatizar o casamento. Mas ele foi informado em um sonho sobre o que estava acontecendo. Então ele se casou com sua noiva, mas esperou para consumir o casamento até depois que Jesus nasceu. Algumas religiões pensam que Maria e José nunca consumiram o casamento. As referências na Bíblia King James (a Bíblia que usamos) sobre Tiago, irmão do Senhor, indicam que José e Maria realmente tiveram filhos juntos. . . ou pelo menos eles tiveram um filho juntos.

A Anunciação é comemorada em 25 de março por várias igrejas cristãs. Isso ocorre em torno do Equinócio Vernal do Hemisfério Norte. Faltam exatamente 9 meses para o Natal.

Você quer uma dor de cabeça para procurar a data do nascimento de Jesus. É muito debatido. Existem algumas evidências que colocam o nascimento de Jesus na primavera, em vez de no inverno. Isso faria a Anunciação em junho ou julho. Mas para nós membros de A Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Últimos Dias o dia exato do ano em que Jesus nasceu nosso Salvador não é vago. Acreditamos que Ele nasceu em 6 de abril. No entanto, não nos importamos em celebrar Seu nascimento em 25 de dezembro.

Celebrar no dia 25 de dezembro é bom para nós. A época do Natal é uma época maravilhosa e, se fizermos o Natal corretamente, lembramos que Jesus é a razão da época. É uma época do ano em pensar em dar e nas bênçãos de nosso Salvador vir à Terra para salvar-nos de nossos pecados, sob condições de fé e arrependimento. Então Seu Atomement paga o preço de nossos pecados e podemos um dia voltar a viver com Deus.

Acreditamos que antes de virmos para a Terra, vivíamos com nossos Pais Celestiais em uma vida pré-mortal. Jesus estava lá e se ofereceu para ser o Salvador de todos nós. Jesus é nosso irmão espiritual mais velho. Ele nos amou tanto que se ofereceu para sofrer no Getsêmani e na cruz para pagar o preço por nossos pecados, para que pudéssemos viver com Ele e nossos Pais Celestiais novamente algum dia.
