Today's new drawing is of Joseph the husband of Mary and step-father of Jesus.
I think we should recognize Joseph for his greatness. He was the husband of Mary and the stepfather of Jesus. He raised Jesus and of course, he also saved Jesus' life. When Herod was going to kill all the children of a certain age Joseph was warned in a dream to flee to Egypt. He did so and took his family thus saving Jesus from death, Joseph was also kind enough not to publicly shame Mary when she became pregnant with the Savior. And when the angel told him that Mary's baby was the Messiah... Joseph believed, Then he finalized their marriage and clearly cared for Mary. He waited for marital sexual intimacy but I suspect he was kind and caring to Mary. He was also clearly a good earthly father to Jesus - even though Jesus was not Jeseph's biological son. Later Joseph and Mary had children. I drew Joseph rather stout and muscular. Not overweight, just powerfully built. After all, Joseph was a carpenter and would have been buff from lifting heavy beams, boards, etc. In conclusion, I would say that Joseph is one of my Biblical heroes.
