Young Carcharodontosaurus coloring page

This is my free coloring pages blog.

My name is Robin and this blog has around 2700 free and printable coloring pages.

This is NOT a color online.  Having once been a kindergarten teacher

I believe that coloring with crayons teaches good hand-eye coordination and

is a good introduction to writing.

Today's new drawing is an amazing dinosaur named

Carcharodontosaurus.

Young Cacharodontosaurus

This is a young Carcharodontosaurus.  An adult could get to be up to 41 feet long.  That is over 12 meters.  It was the 5th largest Theropod dinosaur.  It lived in North Africa and was discovered before World War II,  but the fossils were in Germany and were destroyed during the war.

Chacharodontosaurus lived in what is now North Africa.  That was just under 100 million years ago.  It had a narrowing of the snout and a bite force that was less than that of a T. rex.  It fed on Sauropods.  It probably made a slashing bite or bites on a Sauropod and waited for it to weaken.  It did NOT have a crushing bite like T. rex.  But it was just under the size of a T. rex.  Sauropods were mostly much larger than a Carcharodontosaurus so bites to the side or legs or even tail may have caused bleeding that may have weakened the huge herbivore.

The name "Carcharodontosaurus"  means "Shark Tooth Lizard."  This is because the teeth look remarkably like the teeth of a Great White Shark.

NOTE:  This drawing is found in printable form by clicking on the button labeled "Paleontology."  Then scroll down to the bottom of the Mesozoic Life section.
