Hi or Hi again! I am Robin Lyman and this is my free coloring pages blog.
I am a retired and disabled science teacher.
This blog has over 2700 free, printable coloring pages.
Today's new drawing is of a Sky Fairy.
Ciela the Sky Fairy with a Wedge-tailed Eagle
This is Ciela who is a Sky Fairy. She is from Australia Sky Fairies get their name because they love high-flying birds, like this Wedge-tailed Eagle. Since Sky Fairies are frequently up high in the air they got that name. Sometimes they are called Raptor Fairies. Sky Fairies even have raptor-like wings.
Wedge-tailed Eagles are the largest bird of prey in Australia. They can have a wingspan of up to 9 ft 4 inches. That is 2.84 meters!! Interesting that there are a dozen species of Wedge-tailed eagles. We saw this type of eagle on our tour of Outback Australia.
Sky Fairies, like Ciela, prefer to transform to a maximum size. She, like all Fairies, can transform to various sizes. A Fairy's natural size is around 5 inches or 12.7 cm tall. But Sky Fairies will often transform to a size close to 8 feet or 2.4 meters tall. The larger size and mass is conducive to flying in the high winds of the atmosphere at the altitude where raptor birds fly. Being any smaller makes it too easy to be blown far off course by the high winds. by the way, the Griffon Vulture can fly up to 37,000 feet high. They are among the raptor friends of Sky Fairies.
I think the next bird I draw will be a Griffon Vulture.

P.S. This drawing of a Wedge-tailed Eagle is not as accurate as one I drew and posted a few years ago... when we went to Australia. This current drawing will probably bug me enough that I will "fix" it and repost this drawing.
