¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo! coloring page

Today is May 5th, or Cinco de Mayo.

So I am reposting the drawing I did of the Battle of Puebla.

Battle of Puebla

In this battle, the Mexican army under General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguin defeated a far larger invading French army.  The victory was like what the Battle of Bunker Hill would’ve been like if the colonial army had not run out of ammunition.  In the battle of Puebla, General Zaragoza was brilliant, and his troops were motivated by the desire to defend their own country.

This is a holiday celebrated in Puebla, Mexico.  Americans, especially Mexican-Americans, celebrate Cinco De Mayo in a nod to Mexican culture.  Many Americans are of Mexican heritage.  I am not of Mexican descent, but I lived and studied in Mexico for a time.  So, at our house today, we had enchiladas, tacos, and posole for dinner.  I also showed my grandkids a video on the Battle of Puebla.

NOTE: This drawing is found in printable form for you to print and color... by clicking on the button labeled "Holidays" then scroll down to the Cinco de Mayo section.
