This is a free coloring pages blog. But I have also started to include Science worksheets with a reading. These assignments go with a video that is available by searching online. Today's post is Eyewitness Natural Disaster.
This video is really well done, like all of the Eyewitness Educational Videos. This video, Eyewitness Natural Disaster is about earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods and tsunamis. It also touches on mudslides or landslides and (snow) avalanches. There is also an excellent discussion and analogy on Plate Tectonics.
On a personal note. When the video talks about damages that an avalanche can do I remembered that there is this beautiful waterfall here in Utah. It is up Provo Canyon and it is called Bridal Veil Falls. In front of the falls on a grassy area is where my future wife told me for the first time that she loved me. That grassy area, along with a fish pond, a snack shack made from an old caboose, a gift shop, and a cool tram ride that used to take you in front of the waterfall and up to a restaurant at the top. . . those were all destroyed by an avalanche in the winter of 1996.
