Dinosaur Patterns and Markings

Tyrannosaurus rex with Blood Python Pattern

Modern reptiles an birds often have colorful patterns.  This is a drawing of a Tyrannosaurus rex with a pattern of scale coloring based on the modern  Blood Python.  It is not unreasonable to hypothesize that T. rex dinosaurs had different coloring.  In fact, some patterns of different colors have been identified by chemical analysis of both fossilized scales and fossilized feathers.  So even though elephants and rhinos are a rather drab gray, don't assume that just because dinosaurs were bit that they were a drab single tone gray.  Have fun coloring the drawing.

Note:  My art teacher, Tim Bird, of Artist Corner was drawing a T. rex in class today.  He was drawing it for his grandson.  I was inspired by his drawing so I drew this dinosaur from his drawing.  Remember that the printable versions of the drawing are found by clicking on the top buttons . . . either click on the button labeled:   Paleontology   or   All Prntables.   The new drawings are found at the bottom of the lists.

Below is a photo like the ones I used to help me draw the pattern.  It is from  Ball-Pythons.net

I am now adding some addtional older drawings . . . so these below drawings are from previous posts... so they will be found further up the lists of drawings when you click on the buttons.  Notice that the patterns are done in different ways.  These drawings of several species.
