Fairy Child with Aunt

Fairy Child with Aunt

Aunts are very important in Fairy Families.  If a female fairy child has an aunt then that aunt is responsible to teach the young fairy to fly.  Fairy aunts also act as a second mother to their nieces and nephews.  Most fairy aunts will be involved in teaching nieces and nephews how to take care of the forest.  I should say that the young fairies learn about taking care of the forest, IF they are Forest Fairies.  Other fairies live in the desert, the plains, the mountains etc.  Fairy aunts teach their nieces and nephews how to take care of Nature where they live.   They also teach Elusive Magic. Notice the wands in these two fairies' hands.   That is Elusive Magic is the magic that helps the Fairy World stay hidden from us mortals.  Of course Fairy Aunts are also a great source of fun for their nieces and nephews.  The Extended Fairy Families are tight knit and work and play together.

Fairies live a long time.  They CAN live to over five hundred years.  But when a fairy's work is done on Earth they are taken to, or choose to go to the Spirit Realm.  Since the great majority of Fairies are creatures of light they are almost always going to a wonderful part of the Spirit Realm.  Fairies are actually a type of human.  In fact, humans branched off from the Fairy People thousands of years ago.

As far a size. . . fairies can magically go to the size of us mortals but rarely see the need to do so.  Flying lessons are one time they do this.  All fairy children must learn to fly at human or mortal size in case they ever need to go to our size to defend Nature or their families or other fairies or even to defend themselves.  An interesting fact is that when human size a fairy can make their wings disappear.  Some fairies are among us.  They can fall in love and marry a mortal.  IF this happens the mortal must be a special human with a pure heart who will keep the Fairy World a secret.

NOTE:  This drawing is from a photo of my daughter and her niece. . . who is my granddaughter.  It is my 2nd daughter's birthday today.  The likeness is certainly not perfect for these two beautiful people.
