Fairy with Squirrel
As I have said before, the Fairy People are friends with the forest animals. Or if the Fairy Community is in the desert then they are friends with the desert animals etc. This is a drawing of a squirrel who is friends with the fairy. The squirrel is taking a break from gathering acorns for the winter. The fairy was helping him so she too is taking a break.
Be careful as you color this rather complex drawing. There is a fern plant to the left and behind the fairy. Do not get the fern leaves mixed up with the Forest Fairy's wing or her hair. There is also grass behind both the squirrel and the fairy. Some leaves from an oak tree with an acorn on a branch that are hanging down above the fairy but a bit behind her. Notice that the grass is closer than the oak leaves, acorn, and branch. What you see above the squirrel is part of his or her curly tail.
If it bothers you that this fairy is not super thin, realize that not all fairies look like Tinker Bell. I think that there is beauty in all shapes and sizes of women. That, of course, would include fairies.
When we traveled to Paris and went to the Louvre museum we saw lots of paintings of what at the time they were painted were considered beautiful women. Those women were of many different sizes and some would be considered too heavy by many people's standards today. But those heavier women were considered beautiful back then. Now to be clear, there were also drawings of thinner women who were also considered beautiful. I draw people of differing sizes. I plan to take a class to improve my anatomical drawing. In any case, beauty can be found in many forms of people. Lets try to be kind and more open minded about beauty.
The Fairy World is made up of a subspecies of humans, but they are not mortal like we are. Fairies can decide when they want to be changed to eternal form and enter the Spirit Realm. The majority of fairies do this after they have turned 100, but some stick around for 4-500 years.
