Happy Independence Day to my fellow citizens of the USA!
Today, in honor of Independence Day, I drew an
American Bald Eagle.
American Bald Eagle Fishing
The American Bald Eagle, or just Bald Eagle, is a large raptor or bird of prey. They have a wingspan of up to 7.5 feet. They primarily eat fish, so they are called fish eagles or fish raptors. In Alaska, where I used to live, the Bald Eagles feed on fish, especially the salmon. So, this eagle is about to seize a salmon. The salmon doesn't know what is coming. Bald Eagles can carry a fish weighing over four pounds. Sometimes another eagle or eagles will try to steal the fish in midair... that another eagle has caught.
Some of my best memories of the Fourth of July come from playing in the BYU Alumni Band. The director, Mike, and I would get up terribly early and decorate the float. Then the band would arrive. And we'd drive to the parade and be IN the parade. I especially loved playing the Sousa Marches. I should mention that our kids and spouses often helped with the float decoration, and my kids were also in the band for many years. So, I dedicate this Eagle drawing to Mike, who loves American Bald Eagles. I drew this for you, Mike!
NOTE: This drawing will be posted in the printable pages... after I watch the fireworks outside. So, click on the button labeled Animals and scroll down. New drawings are at the bottom of the list. I will also post this under the Bird list and the Holidays list.
