King David Dances before the Lord and the Ark of the Covenant

King David Dances before the Lord

King David was having the Ark of the Covenant brought to his city, the City of David or Bethlehem.  But a man named Uzziah noticed the ark wobbling.  He reached out to steady the ark and was struck dead.  Only the Levite Priests who were carrying the ark were allowed to touch it.  This kind of freaked David out.  He decided to have the ark taken to someone elses' house.

This man and all of his househould were greatly blessed so David decided to bring the ark to his place afterall.  I guess he wanted some of those blessings.  So, as they brought the ark into the City of David or Bethlehem... David or I should say King David disrobed and clothed himself in an ephod.  He then began to dance before the Lord and the Ark of the Covenant.  He danced very rambunctiously.  People were playing trumpets and other musical instruments and it was a great celebration.  The bird flying in the distance is a dove. . . representing that the Spirit of God was with David that day.

Now, I researched what an ephod was.  It is either a robe or a loincloth.  There are paintings showing it as either.  If you read what happened after David went home then I think is is obvious that King David WAS wearing the loincloth.

Afterwards, when King David met his wife at their home or palace I suppose... She, Michal, was furious with him.  She even mocked him.  (It is a bad idea to mock a king, even if he is your husband.)  She said that he had basically exposed himself to all the poeple and handmaids of the city etc.  King David reprimanded her and told her that he was praising the Lord and he'd do it again snd more.   He also never went in unto her agian and she never had any children.  This story is in
2 Samuel chapter 6 in the Holy Bible.

There is some argument that this shows that King David was not ashamed of his body.  I wonder if this is an example to us.  Our Heavenly Father created us and we, His children, are the reason for His Son creating our Earth.  Jesus created the Earth for us to come here and have a mortal experience and be tested.   Some of us are very critical of our own bodies, but all of God's children are beautiful to Him.  True, if we become wicked we displease God.  I even believe that no matter how beautiful or hansome someone is . . . if they are a bad or even vain and selfish person. . . they lose their attractiveness.  Conversely, if a person  is a kind and good person, even if they are not physically attractive to most people, are much more of a beautiful person because they are kind and good.

By the way, being considered attractive is a function of society.  It is also very personal.  Someone who you think is attractive may not seem that attractive to someone else . . . even if they are from your society.  I think that we all need to be more accepting of our imperfect bodies.  On that note, please pray for my messed up body.  I have some serious illness going on and I would like to avoid having to go into the hospital.  I am on two antibiotics and two different breating treatments.

NOTE:  I drew King David like an older vesion of Michaelangelo's David statue. . . with curly hair.  I also drew him dancing with a harp.  We know from earlier in the Bible that David could play the harp.  So King David was the original Lindsey Stirling. https://www.lindseystirling.com/ (She is a modern violinist who dances and plays her instrument.  I like her music and performances so I put her website address here.)David's feet are not touching the ground.  The Bible says he was dancing and leaping so this is a draiwing of one of his dancing leaps into the air.  For printable versions of this drawing click on the button up top labled. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
