Today's new drawing is of an M1 Main Battle Tank and an AH-64 Main Battle Tank.

M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank &

AH-64 Attack Helicopter

The M1 Abrams main battle tank is one of the more modern tanks.  It is one of the heaviest tanks at 68 tons.  It is 32 feet long, if you count the length of how long the tank is if you count the gun when it is pointed forward.  The hull itself is 26 feet long.  This tank has been in service since 1979 and has had several upgrades and there are 3 models... The M1, the M1A1, and the M1A2,  The M1 Abrams is 12 feet wide.

The main armament of the M1 is a 105 mm rifled gun.  Later models have a 120 mm gun.  The tank also has 3 machine guns.  One machine gun is a 0.50 caliber and the other two machine guns are 7.62 mm guns.  The main gun has a tank-killing range of 2500 meters or 8200 feet.  Some versions of the M1 have depleted uranium in the armor.  Uranium is very very dense and if it is depleted it is no longer radioactive.

The AH-64 Apache is an attack helicopter.  It has been produced since 1975.  Many analysts think it is the best attack helicopter.  There are many versions of this attack helicopter.

The Apache has the armament of a 30 mm cannon.  It also can carry 70 rockets and some Hellfire missiles.  The most recent version of the chopper is called the Longbow.  The Apache is 58 feet long so in this drawing, the helicopter must be somewhat in the distance.  The helicopter is NOT right above the tank. The radar dome tells us this is the most advanced version called the Lingbow.

The AH-64 Helicopter will apparently eventually be replaced by the V-280 Valor. The Valor will also replace the Blackhawk helicopter.
