Barbaridactylus the Pterosaur with Antlers coloring page

Welcome to my blog.  There will be two posts today.

This first one is of a very unusual Pterosaur

called Barbaridactylus.

Barbaridactylus the Pterosaur with Antlers

This Pterosaur, named Barbaridactylus, had a 15-foot wingspan.  That is 4,6 meters wide.  It lived in what is now Morocco in North Africa.  It was a fish eater.  Its most unusual feature was a very long crest that looked almost like antlers.  Of course, the crest wasn't REALLY antlers.  The large crest was probably for species identification and possibly for males to attract females.  But I don't think they have found female Barbaridactylus with smaller crests or no crest.

In this drawing we see three Barbaridactylus heading out to sea for some fishing.  They have just flown over a seaside cliff that is part of a small peninsula that juts out into the ocean.

NOTE:  This drawing, in printable form, is found by clicking on the "Paleontology" button and scrolling to near the bottom of the drop-down menu.  You will need to go to the bottom of the "Mesozoic Life" section.  Then click on the title and you will get a printable page that scanned much darker than the version of the picture on this page of my blog.  Have fun coloring!
