Flower Fairies - Aurora the Sunflower Fairy and other Flower Fairies coloring pages - and a Photo of the Northern Lights

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog!

Today's drawing is a Sunflower Fairy, a type of Flower Fairy.

Flower Fairies - Aurora the Sunflower Fairy

(new drawing)

Flower Fairies are involved in flower pollination and flower care.  This is the beautiful Flower Fairy named Aurora.  She has an affinity for Sunflowers.  So that makes her a Sunflower Fairy.  Remember that Fairies live a very long time.  If they choose they can be immortal.  So Fairies age very different from we mortals.  Fairies mature at the same rate as mortals... in their youth.  Therefore they are adults at the age of 18 years old.  But after that, they just don't seem to age much for a long time.  This Sunflower Fairy, who I met today, is one of those types of Fairies.  She is quite beautiful and looks to be a decade younger than her actual age.  Sometimes a Fairy that is married to a mortal will use an aging-appearance charm to appear to age like a mortal.  They generally use this charm when out in public, not at home with their family.

You may be asking how I met a Fairy today.  Well, Aurora is one of those Faires who choose to live in the mortal world.  She is married to a mortal.  She magically internalizes her wings when around mortals.  She can transform to mortal size or back to her Fairy size - which is about 5 inches, or 12.7 cm tall.  But Fairies can be any size in-between.  Here, in this drawing, Aurora is on pollination duty at a Sunflower.  If you know how big sunflowers are then you would guess correctly that Aurora chose to go to a size of about 2 feet tall.  That is about 61 cm.

This top drawing or new drawing is of Aurora the Sunflower Fairy that is wearing her flying belt.  Fairies are magical beings, but they also have advanced technology that we mortals lack.  So the average Fairy can fly, but not super fast and not for long distances.  Wearing the flying belt, or Balteaus Voantum, as they call it, gives them advanced flying abilities.  They can fly for long distances at speed when wearing their flying belt.

This is interesting that I met Aurora today and chose to draw her tonight (with her permission) because I just learned that the "Aurora" Borealis or Northern Lights are moving south tonight due to increased solar activity.  The northernmost states of the lower 48 states will see the Aurora Borealis tonight.  When I lived in Alaska I saw the Northern Lights. My wife and I also saw the Aurora Borealis in Iceland.   I took the below photo.  It was taken in November 2017.  The Northern Lights looked like a giant spiral or a spiral galaxy up in the sky!  It was awesome!
