Owl Fairy and Owls coloring pages

 Today we have two new drawings. 

One is a modified version of the first drawing. 

Both are of an owl.  ONE includes an Owl Fairy. 

Owl Fairy and Owl

This started out as a quick cartoon drawing for our 18-month-old granddaughter.  It is of an owl... probably a Great Horned Owl.  Owls are amazing birds.  They fly nearly silently.  They have an incredible sense of hearing.  They also have great night vision.  2/3 of an owl's brain is devoted to their sense of sight and their sense of hearing.  So that only leaves 1/3 of their brain for higher-level thinking or cognitive functions.  So that is contrary to the old view of wise old owls.  In other words, owls are actually not highly intelligent birds like a raven.  There are 250 species of Owl.  They live on every continent except Antarctica.  Some owls are native to islands like the Short Eared Owl of the Galapagos Islands.  

Owl Fairies are friendly with Owls.  As you can imagine, Owl Fairies are a type of Night Fairy.  Owl Fairies have extra-large eyes like the Nordic People tend to have.  This helps Scandinavian people gather light and see better.  This is an evolved adaptation because it is dark so much of the year in countries like Norway.  Of course, that is why Owls have large eyes too.  Owls are active at night and need to be able to see in the dark.  (By the way, my wife is of Norwegian ancestry and she has big beautiful Nordic eyes.  She also can see in the dark much better than I can.)

Just below this paragraph is my original drawing of just a simple owl.  It is less shaded and there is no Fairy in this drawing.  There is a star where I later added the Owl Fairy.
