Savaniah the Healer Fairy gathers Watercress coloring page

Welcome to my free coloring pages blog.

Today's new drawing is a Fairy Healer named Savaniah.

Savaniah the Healer Fairy gathers Watercress

Savaniah is actually working on becoming a Healer Fairy.  Part of her duties includes gathering helpful herbs for the Master Fairy Healer to use.  Of course, the gathering and much of the herb preparation is done by the Master Fairy Healer's assistants.

Savaniah is a people person... or you could also say a "Fairy Person" in that she's friendly and truly cares about her fellow beings.  The interesting thing about Savaniah is that she is choosing to live a double life.  She spends time in the Fairy World on weekends... but she is studying to become a nurse in the mortal world during the week.  Some very intelligent Fairies choose to attend mortal college and learn mortal knowledge.  Their true identity is almost always unknown to most mortals, but you can sometimes spot them because they are particularly beautiful and also particularly caring about others.

Savaniah is working a job in the medical field as she studies Nursing in mortal college.  She also is studying with the Fairy Master Healer on weekends.  She may meet and marry a mortal and choose to live in the mortal world, but she will probably eventually, with her husband, retire in the local Fairy village that is located near a beautiful mountain lake about 33 miles from where she is attending mortal university.  I would not be surprised if she chooses to go on to become a nurse practitioner or even attend medical school.  Fairies are actually often very very intelligent.

The watercress that you see Savaniah gathering is important more in disease prevention than disease treatment.  Watercress has been shown to be very dense in its nutrients.  It is high in many vitamins and minerals.  It helps prevent the onset of cancer, lowers high blood pressure, and has vitamins that are very good for eyesight.  Watercress is high in antioxidants that can lower your chance of getting a chronic disease.  In fact, it has been suggested that the Fairy long life span may be because most Fairies eat lots of watercress.  Watercress is also good for your heart. The minerals and vitamin K help prevent osteoporosis.  The high vitamin C content in watercress can help boost the immune system.  There is also some evidence that watercress can boost physical or athletic performance and assist people to lose weight.

Fairy Healers use watercress as an actual dense nutrient treatment for the rare Fairy patient with a chronic disease.  Also, elderly Fairies, the ones that are well over 500, sometimes need an infusion of watercress to keep their health.

You might be surprised to learn that watercress is native to the OLD world or Europe and Asia.  It has been imported to pretty much all the other inhabited continents.  It is sometimes considered an invasive species or non-native weed.  I will admit that, but I am happy that it was imported to North America.  My mom making fresh watercress bread and butter sandwiches,,,  is one of my favorite childhood memories.  We usually ate her homemade whole wheat bread, but watercress sandwiches were always made with store-bought white bread.  We'd do this while camping or visiting the nearby canyon that had a freshwater spring that was the headwaters of the creek that ran down the canyon.  Watercress grows in shallow and very clean creeks and ponds with moving water.  I can still remember my mom's watercress sandwiches.   MMMMMMMMMMMMMM....

One last thing.  Notice that Savaniah is wearing a flying belt or "Baltaeum Volantes."  The majority of Faries wear flying belts so that they can fly long distances at great speed.  Without the flying belt, a Fairy CAN fly, but not as fast and certainly not as far.  Fairies have very advanced technology and that would probably surprise most mortals.  In fact, Fairies are naturally only about 5 inches or 12.7 cm. tall. . . . (or 5 inches short).  But Fairies have a combination of magic and high tech and thus can transform sizes.  Savaniah, in this drawing, is mortal size and out gathering watercress from the nearby creek up in the mountains near her Fairy village.  Being mortal size helps her gather more watercress.  She will transform to Fairy size when she returns to her village.

IF you noticed Savaniah's unique wings, they are similar to the wings of a mayfly but Savaniah has an extra pair of wings.  All Fairies have wings and each Fairy has wings that are unique to them.  Some Fairies have butterfly-like or moth-like wings.  Some have dragonfly-like wings.  Some Fairies actually have feathered wings.  Also, like many Fairies, Savaniah likes to wear plant-based Fairy clothing when out in the woods in the Fairy Realm.  Fairies can transform the grass and herbaceous leaves to form a type of green cloth that is light and holds up well.  But some Fairies just use a more minor charm to fuse the plant matter to make their clothing.
