Jesus begins to Suffer for our Sins in the Garden of Gethsemane - coloring page

Welcome to my Free Coloring Pages Blog.

Today I did a drawing of our Lord and Savior in

the Garden of Gethsemane.

NOTE to my English Readers:  I will be posting this in multiple languages.

Jesus begins to Suffer for our Sins in the Garden of Gethsemane

I want you all to know that I know that Jesus truly is the Son of God.  He came to Earth, to teach us how to be kind to each other and to serve each other.  He also paid the eternal price for our sins.  This made repentance possible for us all.

When Jesus' ordeal began He left Peter, James, and John, his chief apostles, at the gate.  Then Jesus walked into the Garden of Gethsemane and the Holy Bible says that He fell on His face.  He prayed that the bitter cup would be taken from Him, yet he also said, "Not mine, but thy will be done."  So Jesus took upon Himself the terrible price for all of our sins.  In this drawing, Jesus has fallen, prayed, begun to suffer terribly, and is pushing himself up to stand or kneel up.  Soon an Angel will appear to strengthen Him.  Notice that drips of blood are coming off His brow.  The Bible says that He bled from every pore.  Jesus next went through illegal trials.  He was tried illegally at night.  He was unjustly sentenced to die by crucifixion.  He died and His Spirit left his body.  His Spirit went to the Spirit World and He started the preaching of the Gospel of Repentance to spirits who had already lived on Earth and had passed through death.  Then 3 days after His death, Jesus was resurrected.  He retained the scars of His Atoning Sacrifice to help us identify who He was.  Because He was resurrected we all will one day also be resurrected.  Besides paying the price for our sins IF we repent, Jesus broke the bands of death.  When we return to live with our Heavenly Parents we will have perfected and glorified resurrected bodies, not the mortal scarred or injured or ill bodies we have now or that we had when we died.

Let me explain how this all started.  Billions of years ago our Heavenly Parents had billions of children.  We were their Spirit Children.  Jesus was our older brother.  He volunteered to pay the price for our sins.  Satan was another of our Sprit brothers but he rebelled against God and got 1/3 of the spirit children of God to follow.  These spirits who joined Satan or Lucifer were cast out of heaven... along with Lucifer.  They were cast down to Earth without getting bodies.  They also did not pass through the veil of forgetfulness that the rest of us pass through when we are born as mortals.

When we are born our spirit inhabits our physical body.  Our memories of our pre-mortal life blocked out so we can be tested while here on Earth.  We are tempted and many times we will succumb to the temptation and sin.  When we sin there is an eternal consequence or punishment.  That punishment says that we can non return to live with our Heavenly Parents and our elder brother Jesus.  So Jesus, knowing this, volunteered to pay the eternal price for our sins so we could repent and one day return to our Heavenly Home.

We will be able to live there with our Heavenly Parents, our Elder Brother Jesus, and our worthy family members from our mortal life.  Of course, we have to repent of our sins and try to do better. . . and we need to serve God by serving each other.

When Jesus was born he was the literal Son of God.  His mortal mother was Mary.  So he was half-god and half-mortal.  He was a perfect man in that he did not sin.  He never gave into temptation.  He was able to pay the eternal price for our sins.  He started to do this in the Garden of Gethsemane.  He suffered in a way that none of us mortals could have done.  Since He was the Son of God he was actually able to do great miracles.  He was not a helpless victim of the leaders of His people and the Roman cruelty.  He could have stopped his execution at any time. He was offering Himself up as a willing sacrifice.  But it was the most difficult thing that anyone has ever done in the history of the Universe.

Jesus was half-god when He came to Earth... but He was also the God of the Old Testament.  He was the creator of the world.  He was Jehovah.  Jehovah was his pre-Earth life name.  If you read the New Testament part of the Holy Bible you will see that he was seen by the Martyr Stephen... and what Stephen saw was Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

We members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints believe that Jesus and Heavenly Father are separate and distinct personages.  Again, Jesus is our Spirit Brother... but He is also our Savior who paid the price for our sins so that we can repent and return to live with our Heavenly Parents.  Yes, we also have a Heavenly Mother.  Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother are the parents of our immortal Spirits.  The Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit is another separate and distinct individual who is also a member of the Godhead.  He is a personage of Spirit and does not have a physical body.  His body is made of Spirit Matter.  Our Spirits are also made of Spirit Matter.  But our Spirit and Physical Body together constitute our Soul.  In our Eternal Home, we will be able to progress eternally.  We will be able to become like our Heavenly Parents.  In our mortal life, we can grow up, marry, and have children.  This is like the eternal principle of how we will be able to live with our family for time and all eternity if we are sealed for time and all eternity to our spouse and children.  This is why members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints build Temples.  To do those sealing ordinances.  Of course, we also have to keep our covenants, serve God by serving each other, and keep God's commandments... and since we are all imperfect, of course, we also have to repent throughout our lives and try to do better.

So, when we die we go to the Spirit World.  There we teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and learn of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and wait for our resurrection day.  Things in the Spirit World are organized pretty much by families.  You will have your loved ones who passed on around you.  We DO continue on and those relationships continue on as well.  I expect that broken relationships will be able to heal. The nice part of the Spirit World is called Paradise.   Of course, those who refused to keep God's commandments will have to go to what is called Spirit Prison.  There they can repent to at least some degree.  IF they willfully sinned and refuse to repent they will have to wait for a thousand years after the return of Jesus to the Earth to be resurrected.  The Spirits who have accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be resurrected at the beginning of the Millenium.  The Millenium is the 1000 years of Peace with Jesus ruling the Earth.

If you wonder why I posted this drawing with all this writing about Heavenly Father's Plan of Salvation then realize that the Atonement of Jesus Christ was the key event in the Plan of Salvation.  The olive press can be seen in the distance on the right side of the picture.  The trees are olive trees.  The olive press has a heavy stone to roll over the olives to release the oil.  I think there is some symbolism in the Atonement commencing in an olive garden or olive grove.  The lilies in the foreground are a symbol of Christ.
