Flower Fairies - May the Poppy Fairy

I am starting a new series of Flower Fairy drawings.  The first is of May the Poppy Fairy.  Most people know that poppies are the source of opium-based pain medicines.  But poppies are also used to make latex, cooking oil, salad dressings, and margarine.  

May loves poppies.  As you would expect, poppies are May's favorite flower.  Poppy petals are a brilliant red-orange color.  Poppies are one of my favorite flowers as well... namely because red-orange is my favorite color.  

By the way, Poppy Fairies, like May, can change to both Fairy Size (about 5 inches tall) and to mortal size.  Since May is a Child Fairy she is actually only about 3.5 inches tall when Fairy Size.  You might notice that May is wearing her flying belt.  Fairies actually have very advanced technology.  Their flying belt helps them to be able to fly long distances at great speed.  All Fairies can, of course, fly short distances using just their wings.
