Karlie Kloss as a Grass Fairy

Karlie Kloss as a Grass Fairy

Grass Fairies are small but they have attitude!  They also have powerful magic.  If you have read my posts on Fairies before you will notice that I mentioned that they have what would be magic to us, but it is actually higher technology that involves both devices and mental power.  Do you see the belt she has on?  That little belt captures neutrinos and uses them for flight.  The Grass Fairies tend to be slightly built and tend to have this kind of "lacewing" type of wings.  They are also known for being able to fly very fast for short distances.

Like all Fairies, Grass Fairies can communicate with animals and since grazing animals eat grass, the Grass Fairies are actually often good friends with those types of animals.  You know, of course that that means horses, cattle, bison or buffalo, and of course unicorns.  Grass Fairies recognize that the grazing animals keep the grasslands healthy.  They mourned when the Woolly Mammoth were wiped out by early Man.  They also mourned when the American Bison or Buffalo were nearly wiped out.  Many Grass Fairies live in Custer State Park in South Dakota, USA, and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, USA.  There is a large herd of American Bison at both parks and Grass Fairies are secretly and quietly involved in helping to care for the Buffalo.

This may surprise you, but Grass Fairies live underground.  They are also good friends with Prairie Dogs and so Grass Fairies have trained the Prairie Dogs to dig out elaborate subterranean homes near and in Prairie Dog Towns.  Since Grass Fairies, like all Fairies, can become invisible if they don't want you to see them, they are rarely seen by humans.

A note on Karlie Kloss.  I saw her in a Superbowl ad yesterday.  Quite honestly, I had never heard of her before.  So I looked her up on Google.  She is a fascinating person.  She is a successful model as well as an entrepreneur and a philanthropist.  She has always been into technology and computers.  Her charity organization is called Kode With Klossy.   It is a STEAM organization.  It helps girls learn how to code in computer languages.  There are 50 technology camps for girls in 25 cities!

I also admire Karlie for taking a two year break from her very successful modeling career to attend New York University.   She also trained in Classical Ballet and that may be why her runway walk is so unique.  By the way STEAM stands for Science, Technology,  Engineering, Art, & Math.  Being a retired Science Teacher and also an Artist I am pleased that there are good, financially successful people, like Karlie Kloss, helping others succeed in those areas.

I really admire this young woman.  She recently got married.  She uses her money and influence to promote STEAM education of young girls.  This matters to me for several reasons.  My wife was one of the first female Geologists.  I raised two girls and always told them that they could do anything they wanted for a career.  When  my niece asked me I advised her to go to Medical School.  That niece is in her residency as an Emergency Room Physician now.  Another niece is currently studying computer programming and electrical engineering in college.

Finally, This drawing was inspired by one of the outfits Karlie wore in a  Victoria Secret fashion show.  I clearly did not draw her in that outfit., but that outfit DID have wings and that is what made me think I could draw her as a fairy.  I want to point out that my drawing is certainly not perfect.  It is impossible to capture the true beauty of such a beautiful young woman with a fine point marker.  But I wrote about Karlie because she is far more than her physical beauty.  She is a true beauty because she is beautiful inside and out.  She is a truly nice and good person who is trying to make a difference in the world.

NOTE:   The printable version of this drawing is located by clicking on either the     "All Printables" or the   "Fantasy, Myths and Circus" buttons.  The buttons are located up at top of the blog.  Scroll down to see this new drawing.  New drawings are always at the bottom of the list of printable drawings.  I hope you enjoy coloring Karlie the Grass Fairy.
