Hi Everyone! Sorry for not posting for a few days.
We were on vacation in Denver.
Today's drawing was inspired by a statue I saw there in the Denver area.
Tree Fairies - Ariana the American Elm Tree Fairy
American Elms is a hearty tree that grows in much of the Eastern half of North America. This tree can grow to be up to around 140 feet tall. That's 43 meters tall. It is so tough that it can live through very cold winters with temperatures at -44 degrees Fahrenheit AKA -42 degrees Celsius. American Elm trees can live for over 250 years.
Of course, this drawing depicts an American Elm Tree Fairy in the summer. Ariana cares for American Elm Trees. She especially uses her magic to dissuade people from cutting down the American Elm Trees. She does need to defend against the disease carried by the bark beetle because American Elm trees are very susceptible to the Dutch Elm Disease.
Ariana is seen here at night. She is "magically" changing the number of chromosomes in the cells of the tree. I suppose you could it magic but remember that Fairies have powerful magic that is used with a high level of science and technology. Ariana knows that if there are extra chromosomes in the cells the American Elm can resist the Dutch Elm Disease beetle. The cells are easier to transform when it is cooler at night. Hence this is Ariana doing her magic at night.
NOTE: I had to pause putting this drawing into printable form under "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus. My wife needed to borrow my computer for her Primary lesson. "Primary" is Sunday School for children in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My wife teaches the four-year-olds. I will next add some other Elm Tree Fairies from previous posts...
OK, now I have posted the printable page on "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus." So click on that button and scroll down to the bottom of the list. New drawings are always at the bottom of the correct list. So, below are two Elm Tree Fairies from previous posts.
