Happy Halloween!

Tonight, as we are spoiling the Trick-Or-Treaters I decided to re-post some more of my Haloween themed drawings.  I included some Fairies, Unicorns, and etc.  Magical creatures always feel like Halloween to me.  You can  find these drawings, in printable form  by clicking on the "Holidays" button up top and scrolling down to the "Halloween" section.   The dragons, fairies and unicorns are found by clicking on the "Fantasy, Myths, and Circus" button.  For those of you who visit my free coloring page blog, Halloween is a holiday in America where kids dress up and go door to door to say Trick-Or-Treat. . . and the resident of the home gives them candy.

Halloween Monsters

Here are a couple more new drawings for Halloween.

Halloween  Young Vampire

Here is a young vampire to color for Halloween.  He is out on Halloween night.  Like some nice vampires in more recent literature, he leaves people alone.  He prefers to drink the blood of elk, deer, and especially bears.  He is way stronger than normal people.  He can wrestle a large animal to the ground and he only drinks enough blood to satisfy himself.  Animals that are the source of his food are not killed.  In fact, the animals do not fight when he comes to "eat" their blood the second time, or the third time, etc.  By the way, young women think this vampire is terribly cute.

Halloween Friendly Monster

This young monster loves to prowl on Halloween.  He loves to scare people and animals, but he is actually quite friendly. . . . after he makes you jump.   He never hurts anyone.   He is an example of not judging a book by its cover.  In fact, before Halloween he is known for being a good resource for costume ideas.  All the parents in the neighborhood come to him for ideas.

Jesus in a Valley

Jesus going for a walk in a Valley

Jesus was and is our Savior.  No matter how alone you feel, Jesus is there for you.  I was once thousands of miles from home in a hospital in Boston.  I felt so alone.  My wife had been required to go back to work... so she had to fly back to Utah.  My surgery had failed and the doctors were certain that I was not going to make it.  Then one night, I suddenly just knew that Jesus knew how I felt.  His apostles abandoned him to the soldiers and the mob.  In the Garden of Gethsemane He suffered so badly that he bled from every pore. (I was just bleeding from my chest tube and trachea.)  Jesus suffered and paid the eternal price for our sins,  but he also suffered to know how we feel and to know how to succor his children.  We are His children in the sense that He is the Father of our Salvation.  Our Heavenly Father sent His son to suffer and die for us so that upon the conditions of repentence... we could return one day to our Heavenly Home.   I just knew that I truly was not alone.  I was with Jesus.  He was there for me.  He know about pain, and bleeding, and being alone.

I was cared for by kind doctors and nurses, but they were not family.  One day during that 3 month hospital stay my oldest sister surprised me by showing up at the hospital.  She had flown in clear from Nevada.  Nevada is nearly clear across the country from Boston, Masschuttsetts.

I should also mention that I could feel all the prayers being said for me by my large extended family, my friends, my co-workers, and my ward or congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I have said before that Jesus would often go on walks in Nature.  He created this planet and I am sure that he had a connection with everything in Nature.  During His ministry, for 3 years, he appearantly lived as an itenerant preacher and had no home of His own.  So He also knows what it is like to be homeless.  You might notice that he is carrying his bedroll.  He was living on the road so that would make sense.

NOTE:  This drawing was done LAST week during church.  (Today's church drawing did not work.)
I drew this first in pencil and inked it in tonight at home.   I have had a lot of pain today and tonight so drawing helps me cope.  For me, drawing is a good distraction.  Printable versions of this drawing are found by clicking on the right button up top.  Click on either. . . . All Printables. . . .  or . . . . . .
. . . . . . Religious . . . . .    Be sure to scroll down the drop down menu to the last entry.  New drawings are last on the list.  One final thought.  Jesus is drawn here with intense eyes.  I think that he had kind eyes but at time he could give people, or animals for that matter, "the look."  He was the Creator of this world after all.  I am so grateful that Jesus Christ came to Earth to make my repentence possible.  And I look forward to my resurrection when my perfected body will be reunited with my spirit and there will be no trach tube, nor R. Arthritis, nor diabetes, nor heart failure.   Jesus made the resurrection possible for all or us too.

Stevoni and Allie the Elf Warriors

Stevoni and Allie the Elf Warriors

Elven wariors often work in teams.  Sometimes the team is a married Elven couple.  Sevoni and Allie are just such a couple.  Elves like these are human sized.  They live among us and hide thier pointed ears with a disguising charm.  Stevoni and Allie are seen here in full armor, minus the helmet.  They are Wood Elves and they are on patrol to protect the woods from evil intrusions.

Allie and Stevoni have several beautiful children.  Thier children take after their parents.  They are all very beautiful people.   They teach their children that true beauty involves being a nice person too.   This family qualifies as truly beautiful in every way.

NOTE:  In my defense, this drawing (done with a fine point marker over pencil) can not reflect the true physical beauty of this lovely couple.   This drawing, in printable from, is found by clicking on the top buttons labled either . . . . . All Printables. . . . . . . . or . . . . . . . Fantasy, Myths, and Circus. . . . Remember to scroll down the drop down meny to the bottom.  New drawings are found at the bottom of the correct lists.

Halloween

Halloween Beautiful Young Witch

I think it would be wrong to assume that all witches are old and wicked.  I am a big fan of Harry Potter books and movies and  the TV show Bewitched.  So there are good witches, young witches, evil witches and old witches.  But being old does not mean that one is evil.  In fact, in the real world that is true too.  And in the real world being a less physically attactive person does not mean that you are wicked or evil.   I know some beautiful people who would be called not attractive by many other people.  But beauty is in the whole person.  I also know some people who are very physically attractive who are also wonderful people on the inside.  And though I don't associate with them, there are some people I know or have met, who are very physically attractive... but they are very UNattractive. . . because they are not nice on the inside.

NOTE:  Below I am posting several other drawings for Halloween.  I want to add that I think Halloween can be a fun holiday.  I don't like violent horror movies but I like some fun comedy Halloween movies.  Remember that the drawings, like the beautiful witch... are found in printable form by clicking on the correct button up top:   . . . .. Young-Adult Buffalo

Young Adult Buffalo

This animal is also called the American Bison.  The term "Buffalo" is actually an older term, derived from the word that French Trappers used for this animal.  The Buffalo or American Bison is a large herding bovine herbivore.  It once lived on the Great Plains of North America in the millions.  Sadly, they were hunted nearly to extinction.  But the last few were saved and now there are herds in many places.   We have seen them most often in Custer State Park in the Black Hills of the state of South Dakota.  We have also seen them at Yellowstone and on an island in the Great Salt Lake.  The island is not called Buffalo Island, it is called Antelope Island.

.Buffalo can grow to be around 6.6 feet or 2 meters at the shoulder.  They can be 11 feet or 3.35 meters long.  The bulls or males are much larger and heavier than the females or cows.  A large bull can weigh up to around 1610 lbs or 730 kg.

This drawing is of a young adult female.  She is not near as big as a large male. . . nor is she fully grown.  She probably would weigh about 700 lbs. or 318 kg. at this stage of her life.  She may grow to wiegh around 1100 lbs. or about 500 kg. when fully grown.

NOTE:  Tonight my ward (congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) had a Truck-or-Treat and Chile Cook-off party.  I made Buffalo Chile so I got the bright idea to draw this Buffalo right before we left for the party.  I made 15 copies of the drawing for kids to color at the party.  There were crayons on the table.   Now, a Halloween party usually has witches and ghosts and etc. to color, not Buffalos.  However,  if you got between a female or cow buffalo and her calf you would be VERY scared, I guarantee it!   Printable versions of this drawing will be found by clicking on one of the top buttons labeled. . . . . . All Printables. . . . or . . . . Animals. . . . . . . Scroll down to the bottom of the list for new drawings.

Mireya the Science Fairy studying Lemurs

Mireya the Science Fairy studying Lemurs

Mireya was and IS a Science Fairy.  She was born tow or three hundred years ago.  She is from the Iberian Penninsula in what is now called Spain.  But way back then (as now) the Fairy community was way more advanced than we are. (Notice her flying belt for flying long distances at high speed?)   She learned to love learning at an early age.  She was particularly interested in monkeys and apes and of course lemurs.

Mireya went on to get what in the Fairy Education System is a Dominus Magister or "Master Teacher."  In our modern mortal education system this is the same as a PhD.  Her studies involved primates and often other animals and plants as well.  She could use her flying belt to travel to South America, or Africa, or Madagascar, or anywhere she wanted to study the life.  Here we see her with a tiny Mouse Lemur in Madagasacar.  This is a very small lemur.  It weighes only around 2 ounces or 57 grams.   A tiny Mouse Lemur is only about 2.5 inches long, or 6.35 cm. long, not counting the long tail.  It is the smallest primate.

The background in my drawing has two Elephant Birds.  They were the biggest bird ever to live.  Unfortunately mankind wiped them out in the 1700s.  Elephant Birds also lived on the island off the coast of Africa called Madagascar.  An Elephant Bird could grow up to 9.8 feet or 3 meters tall.  They weighed up to around 1,100 lbs or 770 kg.

The thing about Mireya is she was basically a Science Fairy.  She would travel to far places, like Madagascar, and she would study the plants and animals that she went there to study, but she would also find other forms of life to study.  That is what this drawing is depicting.  Mireya is studying the Mouse Lemur, but she soon will notice the Elephant Birds and she will study them as well.  It is from the love of learnig that she got from a very early age.

Mireya is still with us.  She is masquerading as a mortal.  She can hide her wings inside her back and of course as a Fairy she is very beautiful, so she moved to America and became a Miami Dophins NFL Cheerleader.  She looked like a young adult mortal, so she decided to get a mortal perspective and enrolled in college.

Fairies can trransform from Fairy size to mortal size or anywhere in between.  This drawing shows Mereya at half mortal size.  She is naturlly about 5 inches or 12.7 inches tall.  Like all Fairies, she ages very slowly compared to us mortals.  She went to mortal college about 20 years ago, married a mortal and has kids.  In fact, she is now a college professor and a National Geographic Explorer.  She keeps the part about being a Fairy very quiet.  Only her close family know that there is a Fairy Realm hidden in the nearby forest.  In fact, the closest Fairy village is in the Everglades.  Mireya lives in Florida, USA now.  Mireya is a gifted Fairy.  Not all Fairies are as gifted mentally as she is. . . but many are.  Her children are gifted as well.

Two more Unicorn drawings and Unicorn Water Horse and Seahorse

Unicorn Mommy & Filly

Unicorn Filly with Fairy Friend finding Flowers

Hippocamp Unicorn with Sea-unicorn

Here are a couple of quick and fun Unicorn drawings for little girls to color.  Not a lot of detail but good for younger children to color.  The last drawing is a Hippocampus or Waterhorse Unicorn with a Unicorn Seahorse friend.  The Hippocampus is NOT a seahorse. . . it is a mythological animal.  Adding the horn to the Hippocampus and the Seahorse was my unique addtion.

T. rex juvenile with Pteranodon Friend

T. rex jevenile with Pteranodon Friend

This is just a quick drawing that I did for my 2 year old grandson.  Then I souped it up to post it.  If you watch Dinosaur Train (the TV show) you know that there is a Pteranodon family that adopted a T. rex chick.  I have drawn here a T. rex 2-3 year old juvenile Tyrannosaurus with a friendly Pteranodon.  Both dinosaurs are female.   By the way, the female T. rex were probably bigger than the males.   Below is the drawing I did way back last year or before. . . of these two species from the excellent TV show Dinosaur Train.  Obviously this drawing below is not my own style.

Allosaurus vs Apatosaurus

Allosaurus vs Apatosaurus

A full grown Apatosaurus could have weighed up to 50 tons.  In this drawing a young Apoatosaurus is up against a pair of Allosaurus.  One Allosaur is in the foreground and the other
sub-adult is trying to grab at the tail of the much larger Sauropod.  Apatosaurus was a Sauropod, that is a long neck land herbivore that were the largest land animals to ever live on Earth.  Of course Apatosauus was not the biggest Sauropod.  But at 50 tons it drawrfed its predators, the Allosaurs of the Jurassic Period.  Allosaurs grew to around 40 feet or 12.2 meters long and weighed in at around 2 or 3 tons.  Some estimates put Allosaurus at a shorter length.

Some relatives of Allosaurus had larger heads, such as Torvosaurus.  All the Allosaurs lived in the Jurassic Period.  On the other had, some Sauropods surived and grew even larger in the Cretaceous Period.

Allosaurus found at Cleveland-Lloyd Quarry

At the Cleveland-Lloyd Quarry in Easter Utah around 46 Allosaurs were found.  It is thought that perhaps this had beena predator trap.  Maybe the Allosaurs spotted a dinosaur trapped in mud and ...thinking with their stomachs.... jumped in for what looked like free food.  But then the Allosaurs got stuck in the mud too.  This went on many times and the result was lots of Allosaurus fossils.  So Allosaurus is the state fossil of Utah.

Analysis of Allosaurus' brain case show a brian much like that of a crocodile, so jump in at the prey, ask questions later.  The result of this is those 46 Allosaurus found in the above mentioned quarry.

You will notice that the camoflauge markings of the dinosaurs make them harder to see up against the background of the forest.  Although that is not good art technique. . . it IS good science.  The Pterosaur is a Rhamphorynchus.

King Benjamin

King Benjamin teaches his people from the Tower

King Benjamin was a righteous king in The Book Of Mormon.  He was elderly and taught his people from a tall tower so more people could hear him.  He abdicated the throne to his son Mosiah.  Then King Benjamin taught his people about the coming Messiah.  He prophesied of the sacrifice and atonement of Jesus Christ and how that atonement makes it possible for us to repent and one day live with God agian.   King Benjamin also taught his people how to serve God.  King Benjamin told them that they serve God by serving their fellow beings.  This was over a hundred years before the birth of Christ.  Here is the quote about service:

I tell ye these things that ye may learn wisdom, that ye may learn that when ye are in the
service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God.  -Mosiah 2:17

You may wonder about my drawing.  As I have done a few other times, I put this Book Of Mormon story in the Mississippi River Valley area.  Or perhaps somewhere near there.  There is a theory that the events of The Book Of Mormon took place in North America and the Mound Builders are decendants of the people in the Book Of Mormon.  In fact, it is possible that some of the earlier Mound Builders or Mississippian peoples were the Nephites and Lamanites written about in The Book Of Mormon.  King Benjamin was a Nephite King.  In this top drawing he is on a wooden tower.   I did no draw in the people.  They are listening form inside their tents or teepes to keep cool or maybe to keep warm.   The Book Of Mormon tells of how the people brought their tents to sit in as they listened to their king.

The clothing I put drew on King Benjamin is similar to clothing and headress worn by an Iroquios Cheif.  IF the events in The Book Of Mormon took place in the Eastern and Midwestern part of North America, then that would mean that the Iroquois tribe would probably be decendants of the Nephites and Lamanites.  I guess I care about this especially or maybe it is cool to me because I am a decendant of an Iroquios woman... several generartions back.

This top drawing in printable form is found by clicking on the top button labeled Religious. . . or the top button labeled . . . . All Printables.   New drawings like this drawing up top are at the bottom of the drop down menu so scroll down to the bottom.   Below is an earlier drawing of King Benjamin that I did a while back.  It will be further up the list of drawings.   The below drawing is set in Mesoamerica.  The style and patterns on King Benjamin's clothing are similar to that of the Mayan People's traditional clothing.  The crown is also similar to a Mayan crown.  Note that it has some similarities to the Iroquois crown.   In the Mesoamerica drawing King  Benjamin is on a tower made of stone.

There are also theories that Mesoamerica is where the events of The Book Of Mormon took place.  By the way, the full title of the book is:  The Book Of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ.  We members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believe that the Holy Bible AND The Book Of Mormon Another Testament Of Jesus Christ are both holy and true books of  scripture.  The latter is a record of God's dealings with His people somewhere in the New World and it was written by prophets.  The first, the Holy Bible, is the dealings of God with His people in the Old World. l l

White Swiss Shepherd

River the White Swiss Shepherd

The White Swiss Shepherd is a beautiful dog from Switzerland.  In Switerland it is called a Berger Blanc Suisse.  It is a beautiful white dog that looks like a whitewashed German Shepherd.  They have several characteristics that are similar to a German Shepherd.  Their fur is quite white. Swiss Shepherds are known to be very good with children.  They are also known to be pretty mellow around new people.

Which brings me to River.  River was at Pine Creek Station in Australia.  Hea or she. . . I'm not sure what sex the dog was. . . Anyway, River was very friendly to me.  And I was just a stratnger in front of the store.   By the way, a station is a ranch in Australia.

Even though I met River in Australia, I set the drawing in Switzerland.   It seemed appropriate.

Wambat

Wambat Out and About

The Wallaby is a type of small marsupial found in Australia.  There are two genera and several species of wombat.  They are also found in Tasmania.  In Australia they found in the Southeasat mountainous and heathland areas.  The wombats weigh between 44 and 77 lbs.   That is 20-35 kg.   Wombats are about a meter or 3 feet 3 inches long.  They are a gray or grayish brown in color.

The wambat in today's drawing is looking at some spinofex grass.  Wombats eat about any plant.  They eat both grass and shrubery.  They also eat at plant roots.  They have an interesting defense.  They have a rump that is tough and mostly cartiladge. When attacked they dive into a burrow and block the entrance with their tough rump.  If the predator tries to come after them they will sometimes let the predator get its head by and then the wombats use their tough rump to crush the predator's head into the side of the tunnel.  This will sometimes crush the predator's skull.  Predators on wombats include dingos and Tasmanian Devils.   Invasive species like foxes also prey on wombats.

You can see eucalyptus trees and spinofex grass, and Wichetty Bush.  Wichetty Bush is a type of Acacia tree or shrub.   I'm actually not sure which of the pictured plants are eaten by wambats.  Wambats do eat snow grass, kangaroo grass, and wallaby grass.

Wambats eat 3 to 4 hours a night.  They are nocturnal animals.  They have a very slow digestive system taking like ten days to fully digest something they ate.  Even though they have a slow metabolism and walk quite slow, however, when threatened they can run at like 25 mph or 40 kph.
Then, as mentioned, they dive into a burrow and block the tunnel with their powerful posterior.

NOTE:  This wombat was drawn while we were in Australia.  It is a better drawing than my first attempt.  We saw wambats at the zoo, but not in the wild.  They are nocturnal and very secretive.  I guess this drawing is of a wambat that is about to go to bed.  It is approaching dawn and already you can see a bird flying in the early morning sky.   Printable versions of this drawing are found by clicking on the top buttons labeled . . . . All Printables. . . or . . . . Animals. . . . or . . . Australian Animals.

Jesus walking in the Mountains

Jesus walking in the Mountains

Jesus, as told in the Bible, sometimes went on walks up in the mountains.  He did this to apparently clear his head and certainly to be close to God.  I think that He took those walks also to be close to Nature.  After all, Jesus created the Earth and I think He enjoyed being in and among His creations.  Before he came to Earth and received His body, Jesus, as a Spirit, created this planet we all live on.  He did it under the direction of His and our Heavenly Father.  We all lived with our Heavenly Parents before we came to Earth.  Jesus volunteered and was chosen to be the Savior for all of us.
I am sure that He loved the animals and plants.  All four gospels tell of Jesus going up to the mountains to be alone.   This can been read in Matthew 14:23, Mark 6:46, Luke 6:12, and John 6:15.
